I'll never forget that Martinsville win Ricky got when he overheated and had to be pulled from the car. He couldn't stand and was on oxygen for the victory interview. What a stud.
Still NASCAR's Ironman. Never missed one race for 25 straight years! Won at Richmond in 1984 with his eyes taped open, and endured the intense heat at Martinsville in 1998 to extend his streak of consecutive years with a win.
Ricky was presented as tough, quiet and fair. I liked him a lot and some of those rides with Yates were really good. He was a great driver from what I could tell.
Ricky left you know choice bt to respect him on the racetrack. You knew what you were gonna get racing or talking to him. Tough no frills polite and respectful nothing bt a race car driver whose gonna finish what he starts❣️
No disrespect but somebody doesn’t know much. The guy was called the rooster for a reason and he got in the multiple altercations. All you gotta do is go to UA-cam. Rusty Wallace and Dale Earnhardt both had run-ins with Ricky Rudd that were pretty well known and long lasting intense ones.
I always pulled for Ricky , he was well liked and respected among fans for sure. And one tough individual!

I remember sometime in the mid 90's that tide car making laps at Huntsville Speedway.. Beautiful car!!
