$76k?! Man these numbers on vehicles now a days are just insane.
Wonder what the profit margin is on this one…
We live in different times..get ur money 💰
@@johnblack4915 The USA and its fiat dollar will collapse
I love this sequoia have always been a fan but your 💯 % right ….. not many can afford it especially with mark ups can you imagine what this is really going to cost ??
Everything is costing more but wages are not increasing? Hmmm? I wonder how long before the s**t hits the fan?
anyone else get a bunch of sequioa reviews in their feed? interesting that every reviewer has a different version
We got the best one!
@Red yes it’s called a press or media embargo. Pretty common.
@Red you are correct!
@@watchreport 💯 agree with you!
Yes 😂
the face n grill really does go perfect for the Sequoia, can’t imagine how more more badass the Highlander will look
Tell me about it!
How about the 4 runner
Tacoma
New Highlander already debuted in Europe. It doesn't look badass at all. Just as much of a soccer mom van as it ever was.
Highlander targets more women drivers. It'll have a softer/less agressive design so less badass.
I bought a 2021 highlander and wish I would’ve waited a year for this bad boy . Although I absolutely love my car, this one is a an absolute beast
I know how you feel! You still did well.
you can afford it anyway
That SUV is Perfect
I’m glad you are digging it!
TRD floor mats give an extra 5 horses hahahHAHHa, thats the spirit
Lmao thanks for letting me share the laughs with you
@@RaitisRides Thanks, great channel!
Love the what Toyota did with the redesign … and everything is better when you add those three letters TRD !
They really hit this one out of the park.
@@RaitisRides how did they head it out of the park? Lol. Take a look at the back seat, that folds and gives you zero room and you can't remove them?
Sequoia has major value advantages over the Tahoe/Yukon and Expedition:
Best engine: Costs $58k in the Sequoia. $66k in the Tahoe. $70k+ in the Expedition
Fuel Economy: 20-21 MPG in Sequoia. 16 in Tahoe/Yukon. 18-19 in Expedition.
Towing: 9500 lbs in Sequoia. 8300 in Tahoe/Yukon. 9300 in Expedition.
Good way to put it out there like that.
@@Jbs6187 Tahoe looks like hot 💩. Stubby front.
My 2004 legacy 2.5GT still the best with $100K in the bank ready to buy stocks when the market dip.
Sienna has 36 MPG; I'll take that with the insane gas prices!!!
Just watched the Capstone video and he said “6-8 at 7am we’ll be driving the TRD”…. Wait… that’s now! Perfect follow up! Great job joe!
Talk about perfect timing Jay!
That is the coolest SUV I've seen in a while.
I'm highly impressed with this vehicle. I'm digging the color too.
Same here man!
I think im going to grab one of those I am going to let it soak 1 year just in case anything like the wastegate issue comes up but thats a perfect size truck for me and it looks great.
Sounds like a plan.
If you’re waiting to see how reliable the new set up is, should probably give it more than a year.
serious question, historically has Toyota ever released a new car that was plagued with significant issues? I think you are pretty safe buying a new vehicle from them (although the market will probably be more favorable in a year anyway)
@@TypicalToyReviews Normally I'd say you should be cautious of any first year production vehicle. I've never owned a Toyota personally, but do recognize that the Sequoia has been around for a long while and has a proven track record of great reliability. Combine that with the knowledge that Toyota is a leader in hybrid drivetrains and basically added hybrid to pretty much everything they build these days, I'm going to oddly suggest that the 1st year of the Sequoia Hybrid is going to be fairly problematic free.
I've been cross shopping a bunch of vehicles and the Sequoia looks interesting, but since they are hiding the MPG numbers right now I'm not entirely convinced. I'd love mid to high 20's for a vehicle this size, but have my doubts. I'm guessing closer to 20mpg at the high end.
@@slandshark Yeah I hear you on the whole first year thing. A complete new model probably best to let other people test it out, but a name thats been in the lineup for what two decades youre probably safe. With the size of this monster I'd be very surprised if it sees anything with a 2 in the leading number for MPG lol
Nice Sequoia, now we’ll see this design for the next 15+ years
That’s an awful thought, this design is horrendous
@@tommy516 you’re one of the only people who think that
@@bnorvs5929 the sequoia went from having the largest cargo space to… less than a Highlander. It’s trash
Pretty much! LOL
76k used to be price of a LC but everything is so expensive these days.
That is so very true!
@Red That is a great point to take into consideration.
@@RaitisRides yes it is. Most reviewers are too opinionated when they review cars. it's always "at this price point, it should have this" or in this day and age, it should come with this standard. That raises the price of base trim adding all those tech and convenience package standard. Best to review objectively and talk about the features the vehicle reviewed have. e.g. If a sport coupe have heated seats but not ventilated, just say this vehicle is equipped with heated seats. No need to mention what it doesn't have. We need reviews of what the vehicle have, not what it doesn't or should have.
@@stevornrichards1380 I disagree. A thorough review takes into consideration all aspects whether it fulfills its objective or is lacking.
Oh sweetie you didn’t even add mark up yet.
Orange is definitely the color for this😁😁🔥🔥🔥
It really works well on this one.
The nicest SUV out rn. Too bad I’ll never be able to afford it. Lol

This is a beautiful ass truck man. I know I’m growing cause fast cars don’t even really fascinate me as much as trucks do
That is so awesome Antonio! I am so glad that I could share it with you!
Man the extra 5 HP coming from the floor mats got me laughing. Ahahaha.
Thanks for letting me share the laughs with you.
Forget the sequoia, I want that Bison Texas Calzone! Haha
Heck yeah!
No car reviewer has ever had more genuine fun doing a ride review than Raiti.
Thanks for letting me share all of the fun with you!
Solely based off this front corner angle in the opening of this video, This new Sequoia looks like the back half of the last generation grand Cherokee and the front of the new Tundra had been mashed together. I like it
This gets me hype for the next Gen 4Runner and Lexus GX
I know right!
Yeah anxiously waiting on the new 4Runner and taco. Hopefully they give the taco something cool over the tundra. Maybe a front locker finally?
Was really interested in this until we saw the price released today. I was expecting it to be low 70s. 12k price increase over the 22 seems insane.
Things are not cheap anymore.
Yeah, these are 40-50k vehicles 3 years ago now going for 80k. There will be a huge recession hit where these will eventually be sitting repossessed. The market will eventually correct itself and many will be hurting who made these foolish purchases.
That color is awesome!! Won't buy one until they come with an auto 4wd option. Can't believe they didn't offer that when all of the competition has it.
That’s a very good point.
Auto AWD? As in let the computer do it for you? I rather have it manual where you can engage it on or off. But I like my cars to be more old school tech than new software driven stuff.
Technically Toyota 4wd with the center diff unlocked is like auto 4wd. It can send power to any of the four wheels at any time while keeping the diffs open so you can drive from little traction surfaces to dry pavement without binding anything. Lock the center, front, and rear and get full 4wd.
@@ClintDaniel009 The Sequoia doesn't have the same 4wd system as the Land Cruiser, Lexus LX, or GX. It is part time. When you put it in 4wd high, the center diff is locked with a 50/50 split.
@@wademoore2101 that is incorrect, on the first and second gen Sequoia 4wd leaves the center diff open. There is a separate button to operate the center diff lock. ua-cam.com/video/8IXs-SKAqC0/v-deo.html
It is expensive but I would buy it. It is gorgeous.
So would I!
Thanks Joe for your detailed review. You guys are awesome. For $76k I honestly feel like Toyota is ripping off. The interior materials (except for the seats) look like cheap plastic. I also feel like Toyota should've done a better job at providing more cargo space even with the third seat row in use. I was disappointed to hear that the second seat row does not slide, but I wonder why? Any idea? I didn't like the fog lamps position either. Given that Toyota designed this vehicle for off-roading, the vehicle is expected to bump into a ton of debris, hard rocks/materials etc, and as a driver of this vehicle, I'd be worried about breaking the fog lamps during my "off-roading". On a 1 to 10 scale, I'd give 7/10 on the exterior, 5/10 for the interior. Bottom line is I am willing and able to spend $76k on a vehicle but I feel like I'd wasting my money on this Sequoia.
The hybrid battery effects the sliding. This can would be cheaper and sell much better if the dropped the hybrid and sold it as a twin turbo 3.5 like the base tundra.
Solid review as always Joe/Lori. I do overall like the new Sequoia TRD Pro, but the cramped rear may be a deal breaker. 76k for a full size SUV that is basically a 4 seater (captains chair configuration) is ridiculous. If Toyota really wants to be competitive in this segment then they should release a "XL" version of the Sequoia with the independent rear suspension, which will allow for extra room in the third row as well as the cargo area.
This about to worth 100k in 10yrs….it is what it is
Agreed, no point in half assing “full size”. Has as much cargo space as a subcompact. I currently have the expedition EL, and have been looking to upgrade to something newer and more off-road capable, but the cargo space on the toy is not going to cut it.. might just have to go with an expedition max
Oh shut up
Great videos as always. A small tip, get a light source like a small LED to view dark areas. Most areas that you’re trying to show off don’t show up on camera because it’s too dark. Keep up the good work though.
Got a 2020 4runner TRD ORP now and am looking forward to upgrading to the Sequoia in 2 years. As always, first started checking your channel for excellent and reliable reviews. Go Toyo!
Unless you're one of those chasing new look interiors, tech. & features, your 4 runner looks nicer than this.
There is 128 cubic feet of storage (utility) in the original, this one has 87. It’s incalculable the number of times and amount of stuff I have carried in the back of my Sequoia which would now be impossible. The rear floor is completely flat and you can camp in it even if you are 6’3”. 4x8 sheets of plywood. No problem. Now 1/3rd of storage gone. Forget about camping in it, hauling a ton of stuff, etc. Then there is the rear power window, gone. It was the coolest addition ever! You could not only eliminate the wind vortex with just a crack of the rear window, but you could roll down the rear window and carry/wedge anything long like a kayak, 4x4x12, anything. You also had a near open air type vehicle for those beautiful summer days, gone. Finally, all this talk about a dinosaur, but you know what? Every time I walk out into the garage in any season with any adventure or job in mind, after 280,000 repair free miles and 19 years, I reflect ‘what a great vehicle! Now you have a vehicle that gets terrible gas mileage (yes like the old one), can carry nothing, oh… but I have a stupid screen to make up for everything I lost.
I always thought the sequoia were ugly but I want the one in this video. Love the new design and that color is awesome.
They did a great job with the redesign.
LMAO! You said asteroid and I nearly spit out my coffee all over my desk. Raiti you’re the best!
Thanks fir letting me share the Sequoias & the laughs with you!
I rarely see Sequoias on the road where I live. I see Rav4 everywhere, but I don't think I remember the last time I've encountered a Sequoia. To be honest, I forget they exist.
Toyota nailed it with the new Sequoia! 3rd row is for kids and is worth the solid axle
That is an excellent point.
Gorgeous car! Love the car, but I agree, that third row is absolutely a disappointment!
Lol I love the snacks jokes. You know it’s coming but its always the delivery that makes you chuckle
Technically speaking this is the most powerful Japanese SUV ever made. Fun fact.
Badass SUV. Toyota is killing it
These things are SIIIICCCCKKKKK! Test drove one two months ago and it’s well put together! Everything is thought out and we’ll appointed. The crappy thing is the cargo space is non-existent. It’s severely lacking in that department
Early morning vehicle review and a behind the wheel test drive experience ? Raiti...are you making up to your loyal viewers for that short Toyota Camry Nightshade review???
I always try to bring the best when I can. The new vehicle unveils usually are not allowed to be driven.
Maaaaaaaaan Toyota nailed it with this redesigned Sequoia!!!...nearly...That third row definitely needs to be retweaked to be more competitive and more comfortable. Maximum respect to you and Lori for bringing us this beast!!!
Let's be honest--no one is off-roading a $76K SUV. If you had enough money to not care about destroying the SUV offroading you'd buy a better off-roading vehicle. The lack of folding flat rear seats is a deal-breaker for me. Too bad because I really wanted to love this SUV
Awesome review and just noticed the 800K subscribers!!! Couldn't be happier for the BEST car reviewer (and photographer Lori) on UA-cam. Congratulations! 🎉🎈 Well deserved. 👍
I really love this new design language and styling that toyota's taking for their trucks but I'm going to hold out for the new 4runner. The price of this is just a bit too much for me, but assuming the 4runner trd is 20-25k less and a mini version of this then I could dig it!
Lol ya right. TRD pro will be $60k min
I would highly suggest investing in a current generation 4Runner or Tacoma instead of waiting for a redesign.
The reliability of the naturally aspirated engine as well as the relative simplicity of the powertrain as a whole is being completely replaced. The new TRD Pro Sequoia and Tundra both now have a twin turbocharged V6 with a hybrid motor as well. This allows for so many more points of failure. It also makes it much more difficult to do any work on your own vehicle.
If you don’t plan on keeping the vehicle past 80k miles or so this shouldn’t matter that much though
@@michaelrichmann8399 Agreed. They totally screwed the pooch. I'd be more excited if they made a supercharged V6 or V8 without the hybrid crap. Or just bring back the naturally aspirated V8 & find a way to put the starter where you won't have to take apart the upper half of the engine to to get to the starter if it goes bad.
The Capstone edition has heated and cooled seats in the mid-row 🤔 for $76k I was hoping this edition did too.
I guess they focused more of your cash going towards the off road equipment.

It's sad that people even would even joke about selling an organ for a damn car. Sad that it would have to come to that to reel prices back into reality.

99% of these will be purchased for suburban moms for hockey/football practice and will never be within 100 miles of anything resembling “off road” lol.
Toyota is the source of trust and reliability
I’m 💀@$76k price tag 🏷 for the Pro, plus mark ups. Guess I’ll wait another 10 years for the next gen to come and then I can finally afford this gen Pro
I'm really really against Toyota ditching the reliability aspect. Their 5.7 V8's were 👌! Instead of just throwing EPA garbage, turboing everything etc. I just wish they would develop newer transmission's, tinker with gear ratios, and cut back weight!!!! The new Toyota's look pretty cool, once they dropped the 5.7, I won't buy one. 🤷♂️
At $80 grand I can’t afford any twinkies for my center console! 😔
Great review as always! 😊
10:26 I love the physical buttons there. Faster and quicker decision making.

Why couldn't Toyota have made the front end of the Tundra look that good ? I've driven Toyota since 1983 but I am building F 150 Powerboost online for my next trade in a couple of years.
I guess they were saving it for the Sequoia.
I like the part at the 8:00 mark where the Toyota guy is holding your hand. I read his lips and he said "please don't tip our beautiful big orange TRD".
