After seeing the 3rd row review, it was already positioned back as far as it went. There in NO space for teens/adults if they’re 5 ft 7+. I was really trying to convince my wife that we could make this work for our family of 6. But dang, can’t seem to stretch it out. Unless they were to extend this Toyota “Grand Sequoia”! We would undoubtedly make it our family purchase! Hopefully Toyota is listening and knows that families want to truly adventure. NOT in a “Highlander” either.

For real. Was considering this as a replacement for my Volvo XC90 but the cargo area is terrible. Doesn't look useful for stacking heavy items (bags of top soil, etc).
I think it’s one of the most attractive SUV’s on the market and if not for its short comings,it would be sitting in our driveway, but now we’re waiting for real world reviews on the new GHL

Now if the rumors are true (Dropping the Hybrid version of the Sequoia which will give it a fair amount more space, then we'd have to consider trading the Grand Highlander for one of these, I just really like the looks:)

It should always be kept on the highest level which will not only make it easier to reach for stuff through back glass window but will also make it anti-theft since you'll be able to put important stuff underneath the shelve, hiding them from thieves.
this vehicle makes no sense, Captains chairs on already constrained platform in useable space? Better make it a 5 seater and delete the third row. Seems like you're better off with a 4runner in that case. This thing has 2 extra seats with all the compromises. I don't think people are going off-road and overlanding with a family of 7. Else you need something bigger anyways.

Just canceled my order (deposit) for a Platinum Sequoia. Picking up a ‘23 Lexus GX460 tomorrow. It’s rear storage sucks with the 3rd row but when I’m not using it the rear is perfectly flat which is what I want.

Stopped by my Honda dealer yesterday and they only had new Pilots to drive with no stock. Everything requires an order. Getting a great deal on a GX460 for a vehicle that will last as long as I keep it or want to have it. If I go to sell, I will get more money back on a percentage basis vs just about any other vehicle on the road except a 4Runner and Tacoma.
It’s very interesting that the other full size truck based SUV’s never really had wide stances with marker lights and optional tow mirrors so the competitors really need to do the same treatment on their full size SUV’s as the Sequoia TRD Pro.
The cargo area is a deal breaker for me if it had more cargo room I’d buy it if Toyota want the sequoia to stay competitive they give u more cargo room they should’ve made it longer

A pretty competitive product. I guess the super heavy weight (6000 lbs) meant the hybrid approach didn't yield great results. A lot more complexity with a Hybrid compared to a V8, and that old V8 Sequoia had legendary reliability. This system will be jam packed with non-redundant sensors, and can't possibly last as long.
it's crazy to own something that big and it only sits 7 max (and not 8, anything sedan or bigger can sit 5 for perspective) and also have limited cargo space with or without 3rd row passengers because the seats are bolted on and are 3 inches thick folded down and stays above the floor. Just horrible design with extremely limited use case useless use case is compromise on everything 24/7/365.
@@PWCDN You do realize that this is a common trend with higher-end trim levels right? Most of the time the lower-end trims in any 3 row comes with 8 passenger set up. Once you get into the mid-level and above they come with 7 passenger as option then standard on high-end trim levels. The Tahoe, Suburban, Expedition, Explorer, Armada, Highlander, the new Grand Highlander, Traverse, Durango, Yukon, Palisade, Telluride, CX-9, CX-90, Pilot, Escalade all follow this trend. I can keep going but that would be redundant. 7 passengers is fairly common in all of them when you opt to pay for one of the higher-end trim levels.
@@PWCDN You have brought up a salient weak point in the Japanese product mentality, which is to tread the compromise path for characteristics. No sharp corners, no unreliability, no leaks, good solid engineering but always being bland. If you want a bland, compromise vehicle, you will end up with a Tesla or other skateboard Chassis EV, as it has the fewest moving parts, and simplest structure. For an ICE vehicle going forward, it better be very tailored to a purpose, like the Ford Bronco or Jeep; it pushes out into a set of uses very far, and it isn't compromised. This Sequoia is going to be a very expensive product, and i think you are right that it will not dislodge the Tahoe at $70k price point.
The hybrid setup ruined the new Sequoia. Same with new v6 two turbo replacing v8 in Lexus line up. Hardly Toyota's fault since it was force upon them by our tyrannical government.
love the sequoia! id rather have it compared to the Tahoe bc hands down reliability. ive personally known a few people have trouble with the Tahoes the past several years. however, if this sequoia engine is as good as the last. I know people who have 300k+ miles on them with very little problems.
@@Juliannn.n I believe it's close to 80% built in USA correct? Some parts are manufactured in Japan are shipped to US and are assembled here, but those parts originated in Japan. Still very impressive at 80%. Last time I checked a number years ago, Tundras had the highest percentile made in the US than any other manufacturer to include; Ford/Chevy/GMC.
But that’s just the thing I work at a Chevy dealership in sales and people wanting a Tahoe get a Tahoe people who want a sequoia got a sequoia thhey don’t cross shop the two they are both for different family sizes and uses ! I am a Toyota Guy who owned a 2023 4Runner,but id take the Tahoe-it seems like the new Toyota models fit and finish is not as good as it used to be and with turbos and batteries long term i do not believe they will be as dependable as Toyota used to be

This is the best looking SUV hands down…. BUT… the price is outrageous and they took away the V8 for a turbo V6 and still have basically the same MPG’s… it’s a deal breaker for Me. Big mistake Toyota
As a current 2018 sequoia limited 4 x 4 owner there is nothing about this new one that says trade in your tried-and-true vehicle for this. It’s not only smaller but it barely gets better gas mileage than what my current Sequoia gets. I don’t care if it has nearly 500 pounds of torque it doesn’t matter my venerable 5.7 L V8 is incredible and I don’t need anything more than that. not only that I paid just over $40,000 for the Sequoia at one year old how can anyone justify $80,000 for this vehicle?
Toyota really screwed up with this redesign. It has zero third row room with the seat up. The seats do not fold flat. Finally, the leg room in the third row is abysmal. Looks wise, it is on point!

This Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro is my Favorite Toyota SUV Worlwide specially in that Orange Paint. The Chevrolet Tahoe is my Other Favorite Full Size SUV

It’s not only smaller but it barely gets better gas mileage than what my current Sequoia gets. I don’t care if it has nearly 500 pounds of torque it doesn’t matter my venerable 5.7 L V8 is incredible and I don’t need anything more than that. not only that I paid just over $40,000 for the Sequoia at one year old how can anyone justify $80,000 for this vehicle?
I will go with Platinum package. Wider wheel and higher too

And the range is much different for the Sequoia (600 miles) vs the 4Runner (350 miles).

Toyota really screwed up with this redesign. It has zero third row room with the seat up. The seats do not fold flat. Finally, the leg room in the third row is abysmal. Looks wise, it is on point!
