Did Someone Drop My Train? - PS3 Upgraded PRR G5s

  • Welcome back to the train room for another review. In this video I’ll be explaining my findings while upgrading this beautiful MTH (originally PS2 5V) locomotive to PS3.
    My conclusion is that this appeared to have been dropped on the nose or on the front of the model damaging detailed parts. The biggest issue was the bent rear wheel set that disabled the engine entirely.
    Locomotive was repaired utilizing small hand / model tools. The engine still runs rough, but is starting to smooth out with further operation.
    Hope you enjoyed this review style video,
    Happy Railroading!

    Congratulationa on your marriage Nick! All the best to you and your bride and many, many years of happiness together!
    That's some outstanding work you did on the G5, and I love the look of FOUR classification lights! If the PRR didn't use a configuration like that they should have!
    Thanks for posting!

      Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching. Funny story about the lights, I later googled the PRR marker light colors and they use to do some goofy schemes. Green up top , red / yellow about the plow with the same lamp but different lenses. Who knew?! lol

    You gained some valuable experience repairing that locomotive, too bad the condition of the engine was not accurate.

    I wish you had entered that in my "Save the junk challenge" since it is such a good save. It is a nice looking engine as well. Your cinematographic skills have really improved as well. Great video

    Nice video, Nick. Congratulations on the nuptials. That is a cool locomotive. Too bad that it came in such bad shape, especially since they stated that it was working. They probably put some power to it and the wheels moved a bit and that was it. I've read some good things about Trainz, but I've read some real horror stories, also. The least that they should do is send you a new wheel and reimburse you for the bell. Either way, a fine review. It is nice to see it run, especially with those old-style heavyweight passenger cars. An excellent video, as always. Keep 'em coming.

      It seems to be a common occurrence… I had a PS1 GP7 arrive DOA because they never changed the white battery… how can you test it and say it runs if the battery is 25 years old and is dead?!

    I was surfing on trainz about a year ago and came across what was advertised as a 2 pack of those scale die-cast PUP trailer flat cars for a really nice price. Turns out when I got it there was only 1 car with the 2 pack box and I thought I screwed up. Like maybe I didn’t read the listing thoroughly or look at the pics closely.
    I went back and reread the description and took another look at the pictures, and no, I was correct. I got into contact with Trainz and they at least made it right by refunding me 50%. I know they sell a large volume but they need to be better with their listings.

    • @NixCrossing
      @NixCrossing  3 місяці тому

      I think the turn over and volume is so high , they really don’t check everything as they should. I’ve also noticed a change on where things ship from like consignment so to say. Not sure what is going on with the engine department. I haven’t had any issues thus far with rolling stock

    • @NixCrossing
      @NixCrossing  3 місяці тому

      Hey thanks for watching! Search “Evemodel” on Amazon.com and you’ll see all sorts of LEDs. The markers are wired in parallel with the headlight leads which are 5-8VDC but if you use AC , do not crank more than 16VAC
