You have made my childhood amazing. I may be a teenager now, but I still watch these videos, you don't care about prices or foamers getting mad, your just having fun. Mad respect.
I thought of a way you could ACTUALLY make it drive on the ice in like a legitimate path. Submerge the track just below the surface so the rails are just barely exposed and then place some kind of spacer against the inside of the rails made of like flexible resin or something and then let it freeze. After the ice has formed remove the spacers and then the train can ride on the floating (or supported from below) rails on the ice, or take like a tiny saw tool and a tape measurer and carve out even spaced gaps in the ice for the train to ride on, the thicker the ice the better. Since your train doesn't need track power and is remotely controlled the second option would probably be the more 'movie accurate' version, but this is still pretty close. Cool vid.
few possiblites to make trains move on ice is to maybe have some spikes that can deploy on the inner wheels and using sand but idk we need a simulator to try and see
hahahahah you are sure having a hell of a lot of fun, that's what a hobby should be. Battery and remote engine I see. I have seen that for O gauge too. No electricity in tracks.
in the polar express, there is a thin layer of snow above the ice, combine that with the locomotive being heavy enough for the flanges to dig into the ice and act as cleats would give the locomotive at least a bit more traction than thought
@@DORM-dv7yv the bigger problem with the scene is that to my knowledge steam trains are not capable of clutch breaking or neutral steering, so even if you could move on ice there would be no way of controlling where you were going.
@@Shaun_Jones During the movie, the engineer is seen multiple times releasing the throttle and using the reverse to its turn the locomotive, the locomotive's forward momentum combined with the icy surface and the metal wheels would not give the loocmotive enough traction to go completely in reverse, but since not nearly as much energy is going into the locomotives sway to either direction, the reversing motion would turn the sway in the other direction before it would reverse the entire locomotive in the opposite direction
This guy knows what models are made for. my older brother threw all my aicraft models out the window to see if any of them would fly, for the longest time i hated him for it, but once the notion of letting go for even more fun became apparent... well, I'm here, for whatever it's worth.
i think the bridge collapsed before christmas but the track didn’t break, and was just stuck in the water. THEN when winder came around, the water froze, therefore trapping the track underwater

The entire hobbyist community except u and 8 people consider them moving models due to realism price point and the intricate scenes the modelers set up some scenes taking years to complete a toy is battery powered not realistic plastic track or wood and usually has the cheap triangle-U couplers
Wow this is different this like the version of the polar Express but instead the polar Express it’s different steam engine from the union pacific I saw the logo on its tender cool
@@patriciohe9273 This is an electric train, not battery powered. But the engine does have to be in contact with the track, which is electrified. The guy has figured out some kind of work around…and I’m curious what he’s doing.
@@ShadeIsLikely that's what I'm saying, probably a demonic way to set up a lithium -ion battery on the tender or the engine in a way that it provides electricity to through the wheels (or directly attaching it through the cables that are potentially connected to the wheels

I agree with everything this man just said. (Accept for the fact that I ain’t a teenager)
FINALLY SOMEONE RECREATED POLAR EXPRESS IN REAL LIFE
we makin it to the north pole with this one 🗣🔥
So flipping cool, especially the shot of the loco going back onto the track from the ice
Congratulations my firend, you have done something that everybody and their father WISHED they could EVER do on ice!!!!!
He recreated the polar express without that annoying nerdy kid
"LEFT, RIGHT!" said the polar express conducter calmly.
“Calmly”🤣💀
“RRRIGHT! LLEFT! RRRIGHT! LEEFT!”
GET US THE BLAZES OUT OF HERE!!!

How did they get a complete circuit through the engine with the tracks under the ice?
It’s a battery powered engine I bet
Oh
GET US THE BLAZES OUTA HERE!!!!!!!! 0:40
That was one of the conductors voice lines when the polar express was on the ice
Nice Polar Express reference

The real " polar express" 😂😂😂😂😂
The polar express!?
How it should have ended.
It’s a magic carpet on a rail, never takes a rest. Flying through the mountains and the snow~

So the Polar Express was BS??
Yes and no. Yes in the sense that train wheels don't have much traction on the ice. No in the sense that this train runs at a slower pace.

Polar Express in the style of model-era Thomas the Tank Engine.
all of this seems very familiar
I can see why

I gotta see if model trains can fly, thanks for the idea :)
@@crazytrain525oh no….
Wait that’s not a good idea
Why?
It’s like that scene from the pool express
I meant to put polar express

Really really you actually tired the polar express move lol 😆 lol 😆 🤣 nice.
That took guts, lol. You must have been really careful retrieving it; not like you could step out on the ice to get it!
Polar express anyone?
Hell yeah
Just like the old days
Express of the Polar :3
Ah yes polar express he'll yeah!!!!!
Sir, I just have one question, why does your track lead into the water?
i think the bridge collapsed before christmas but the track didn’t break, and was just stuck in the water. THEN when winder came around, the water froze, therefore trapping the track underwater
Polar express 2 be like:
That's very chaotic. I like it!
Don't worry if Polar Express taught me anything you can do this!

Sweet it’s a remake of the train on ice scene from the Polar Express. Good job man 👍
But but but..... it worked in the movie. 😂😂😂😂🤘👍
Do you think if there were steering actuators on the bogie trucks that they could act like a rudder to steer the locomotive across the ice?
I’ve seen this before somewhere
Imagine you turned the Polar Express into a theme park ride just because of the ice
Straight up Polar Xpress
Uncle Fester eat your heart out!!!!! Someone call Gomez he gotta see this!!!
Hold on, that isn't the Polar Express
Awesome video Crazy tain 525, I hope the fish are OK.
Oh ya the fish are chillin, I had a few of them for over 5 years outside
I bet you could replicate that scene by using frosted glass and magnets like ones used for cars in some setups.

How is the engine getting electric power when all of it’s wheels are sitting on the ice?
Good point
Probably there is a battery inside what should be the boiler
