theres also Variants for it: the friendly yellow ones and the "I'm gonna murder you, your family and your whole country just because you looked at me funny"-red ones
Every time I see a Lalafel sprint past me, I always feel this need to chase them. Like “Ooh look, a Lalafel! Where you going, little fella?! Where you going?!”😂😂😂 It can’t be just me
My character that I've gone through all the expansions with is my Male Roegadyn White Mage. Really loved the idea of a gentle giant healer, and I haven't had the heart to fantasia him, I've gotten so attached lol
That's pretty much why I enjoy being the shy, comfy, pink and pastel Au ra who can sometimes be a brat (Dark Knight aka Brat Knight) or hyper hopper Dragoon. And my name is Suzume and I'd often have people say "Suzume has the zoomies again." Get it? Suzume Suzoomie. XD Even though it's still pronounced Suzu-may.
Not very far in the video, but I just wanna approve of the Hyur part. I just really like the idea that, in a world where everything is possible and whatnot, you choose to be a human, which I think is special in it's own way. That aside, I just like them in general. There's nothing particularly special, but also not much wrong with them, which is pretty nice.
IMO, I prefer playing the "human" race because it's just far easier to roleplay as XD There's also the fact I still wonder to this day how an AuRa sleeps without tearing or poking holes into their beds and pillows...
@@SilverNightbane I showed my bf this comment and couldn’t stop laughing. I always wonder how fuck do they sleep? Or even kiss with horns that go inward. This made my day. 😂
@@SilverNightbane Hey congrats! 🎊🎈 💗💗 I married aura male. We both broke for actual wedding. Now I imagine just the bedsheets wrap around their bodies covered in holes. Hope you have great marriage. 💗
I'm 5' 10", which I'm well aware is above average height for a woman, so when I was choosing my race as a new player, it was between fem Roe, fem Zen, or Viera. My sister was a fem Roe at the time and I didn't want her to think I was copying her (except, she is a fanta addict and soon changed to a female Au Ra), so I considered Viera. But their starting Victoria's Secret lingerie wasn't my style, and they had really limited hairstyles and couldn't wear headgear. So I went with female Elezen, and I haven't fanta'd since. I only used my ARR fantasia to make myself max height and change my voice (I initially picked voice 7, which is, uh... bad). My experience as a femzen has been a rollercoaster. On the one hand, I get genuine compliments for being pretty and having nice glams. On the other, I got bullied in my old FC for being an "ugly giraffe". As an introvert, I don't like being the center of attention, so playing one of the races that most people gloss over is good for me. A couple months ago during an Orbonne run, the male Duskwight dragoon in my party rather suavely asked for my digits (I was playing monk, he only gave me dragon sight) and I was like... wait, you mean me? He flirted a bit more and I was just... so flustered. Anyway, thanks for not shitting on Elezens like most other people who do the ranking thing do.
@Sonder Sorry you had to go through those weird experiences. > I get genuine compliments for being pretty and having nice glams Yeah I won't lie, as a FElezen player, it's both so funny and surreal the amount of times people have /tell me either complimenting how my Elezen looks, or the glam. I tried FMiqo, FViera, FHighland and FRoe in the past, but they've never felt right, and something always felt off so I always swapped back to FElezen And @Jordan in this comment thread mentioned their necks being a problem, and eh I've never found that to be an issue myself since my char is always wearing either the Wayfarer's Necklace or the Goatskin Choker, or just having puffy cute glam. yes im an average height guy who likes tall women, sue me lol
@@KajsaWanderer What a coincidence. I just finished tanking expert roulette with three female Elezen players from different servers. I don’t think out of the thousands of roulettes that ever happened before.
9:22 The funny thing about Female Viera being taller is that it also makes sense based on their pre-existing race lore in other games they exist in. The women are supposed to be the ones out there being badass amazon warrior women while the dudes hold down the home front, so it makes sense that the average Viera woman is taller than, and is generally stronger than, the Men of their race, who tend to spend more time at home taking care of the kids/community they live in compared to being out and about doing the fighting on the front lines. This attention to lore details is something I appreciate, especially when it leads to very cool diverse races like this.
@@Jake38nine After a bit more digging, turns out we’re both kind of right? The guys live alone (think Tarzan-style) while the women live in settlements. The women look after kids until they show gender-specific traits (Viera kids apparently can’t really be identified as male/female until they hit puberty). This is because since men are supposed to live separately and because viera generally appear fairly uniform at the outset, it’s safer to keep the kids in the women’s communities until their gender is determined. They contact males specifically for three reasons and otherwise both groups stay separate, barring serious problems of course (those reasons being To Mate, To Collect young who have been found to be Male so the Males can train them, and for Trading purposes). Thus, the women do spend more time “on the front lines” while the men tend to be more like lone commandoes who try to deal with problems solo and who teach young males how to be more self-sufficient. This does mean the guys tend to be the ones to stay back to deal with more internal threats while the women are more readily able to strike out in groups to deal with more external problems. Otherwise the two groups stay as separate as they can.
@@TheMongral Seems like that may be the way our society is headed towards in evolution. Lol. Women are more independent and they rarely date down their financial level. Eventually women will out earn men, then kick them out, and only allow them in their communities for the reasons you gave. It's very eerily similar to the way our society is headed.
It's funny, when I started playing I was planning to make a male Miqo'te, then I looked at Lalafell and thought "...you know what'd be funny??" It has been funny, playing Lalafell was the third best decision I've made in this game Second was playing Summoner and first was picking up the game in the first place Everything is 10 times more fun and adorable because Lalafell
i usually play Human in fantasy settings, sure, i'll play one of the more fantastic races later, but i'm a big fan of the "Badass Normal" trope. so if my character is about to face some mysthical creature, all i can say is, prepare to be defeated by the race version of oatmeal and water! i almost take pride in the fact that, despite all the weird and crazy things i could play as in games, i'm content with being plain and boring by comparison. also yes, i also like the Bunnies. but i need my big bushy beard, so i stay a highlander hyur.
I gravitated super hard to Roegadyn when I started FFXIV, the concept of playing what is essentially a Jotunn ripped straight out of Norse mythology is just _peak_ for me. I was kinda sad to see how few there are compared to the others, I plan on an alt for each race, gender, and clan (gotta try a lil' bit of everything, y'know?) but honestly I might make more than one Roegadyn. They just have a certain feel to them that I absolutely adore. Also Merlwyb is the only Grand Company leader to consistently _get shit DONE._
We once cracked a joke at someone in our FC, because she fanta'd from female Hyur into a female Mi'qo because she didn't want to be generic anymore. The joke being that we laughed at her for fanta-ing into what is literally the most picked and most generic race/gender combination and that she would struggle far more to stand out as a female Mi'qo than she would as a Hyur. I fell out of touch with her about a year ago, but last time I saw her, she was still a Mi'qo so at least she stuck to her guns. One of our other running jokes is that if we lose a Mi'qo in the FC, we can always pick up another 'stray' from 'literally anywhere in the game where players like to gather'. They're a dime a dozen. They are very pretty and their emotes are excellent, but you see so many of them, after a while you just kinda stop thinking they're special. Sorry, fem mi'qo players, but you know it's true. If you're anything like my former FC mate, you won't give a shit and just keep doing you if that's what you love to play.
Am i weird in saying that i never found the female Mi'qote's pretty? Meanwhile, i only found one face from female Midlanders that i like. And nothing from the female highlanders, personally. And despite preferring female midlander, i gotta admit that. in my opinion, the female Au'ra have no bad faces. All 4 are good.
One of the worlds in my server (or maybe every world have em) has this preset pony tail (+ribbon) legend fem miqotes, standing side by side in Limsa. I would always laugh my ass off because it looked so hilarious as they all look the same just by the idle pose, glams, etc. 😂
I play a male elezen, min height with the soft boyish face. He's the sweetest healer and I adore him, and I can't imagine ever changing him from being my main. Originally I played a male Miqo as my first character, but I'm glad I made Esmont instead, he's far more unique to me. Though I laughed at your mention of finding your NPC dad as a Hyur, this happened to me too! There's a new NPC in Ishgard housing that looks just like my boy save a few tweaks and a bit of hair dye.
Thank you for affirming the Hyur love! I tried going bun boi when it dropped for Endwalker but it just didn't feel right so I went back and was immediately happier having my long time character back.
Ah, I remember entering the character creator for the first time back in March. Debating between the potato and the catgirl, I was sold the moment I saw scales. Also I did a complete 180 in concept for my night-themed fem Xaela from planning some edgy personality to turning her into absolute gremlin by just giving her the highest voice available. Now Glitter is my most treasured baby. Gotta love the cute feral Paladin.
As someone who started out as a Midlander Hyur when I began... I never expected that I would end up being a catboy. But then I got more into the lore of the world in which FFXIV is set... and both Y'shtola and G'raha Tia turned out to be excellent ambassadors for the Miqo'te race. It was G'raha Tia who finally had me sold on the idea that this race is cool. Then when it came to what I Fantasia'd into... I ended up thinking of a cat I once had... he was one of my favourite pets I had ever owned. As a Russian Blue, this determined the dark blue colour of my catboy's hair. In Fire Emblem Three Houses, Seteth is my favourite member of the Church of Seiros, so it certainly helped matters that there was the option for my catboy to have a beard like his. I wanted my character's name to be lore friendly out of respect for the lore and story I have come to respect so much... so I looked into it. I was able to come up with J'vehf as his first name... it kind of sounds like my IRL first name, and the J Tribe, apparently mostly residing in Gyr Abania lent itself to some headcanon I could lean into... since Gladiator was my original class at the start, I could concoct the backstory that he came from Ala Mhigo to Ul'dah, hoping to follow in the footsteps of his hero Raubahn, who made his fortune fighting on the Bloodsands before it became apparent that Hydaelyn had other plans. Tia being his second name... well a male Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te is either a Nunh or a Tia. Since my guy is not the leader of his tribe, he's obviously a Tia. Yes I'm a nerd. No I'm not ashamed of it. Nobody should be ashamed of being a nerd.
Love seeing some Miqo'te lore friendly players out there! In my headcanon I like to believe that there are Sects of tribes stemming off a larger one. My catboi is from the V tribe himself and I like to think he is from a smaller sect of the larger tribe. That's because I have no clue as to where the V tribe is largely located so I just kind of went off of being inspired by other headcanons. There is about 4 V tribe Miqo'te I know of in game which is V'kebbe, V'mah Tia, V'nbolo, V'mellpa and two of them can be found in Limsa while one is from getting them through the Grand Company Squadron and the other was actually in the Scions! I haven't actually flushed out his story much besides him wanting to see the world and coming back to visit his tribe bringing souvenirs and whatnot from his travels...at least its a bit of something Xd Also no need to be ashamed of being a nerd I call myself a nerd as well!
I have a theory about male au'ra. They have wider hips and chests so their center of gravity is lower (sort of like women). And my theory why they have that hour glass figure: Because they have fought so much their bones are denser. They protect pretty vital organs so they're just harder to break. It also explains the scale placements, they're on easy to break places.
My opinion on all races: Midlander Hyur Male: They are very cool, can fit almost any scenario and are generally good looking Midlander Hyur Female: They are very cute, they can fit almost all scenarios and look very good in glams. Highlander Hyur Male: They are muscular men, great for the tank/melee fantasy. Highlander Hyur Female: They look really good in a lot of glams, are more visually interesting than their Mid counterparts and their animations are great and lively. Elezen Male: They have a lot of facial diversity and great RP potential and one of the faces can be seen as very androgynous, especially with longer/feminine hairstyles. Elezen Female: They give a royal vibe, their emotes are beautiful and elegant. Some of their faces are more androgynous and look very good. Lalafell Male: Small and cute, very popular for their size and can fit very well in a more mage-y aesthetic. Lalafell Female: Small and cute, very popular for their cute glam potential and like the males they can fit a more mage aesthetic. Miquo'te Male: They are the small and cute boys that everyone loves. Their facial diversity is good and they have one of the best /sit in-game. Miquo'te Female: They are very pretty, can fit and look good in a lot of glams and their faces are really nice. Their animations are very cute and lively! Roegadin Male: They are the biggest and strongest. They are perfect for a more berserk/tank-focused fantasy. Roegadin Female: Love them, their models look amazing, their animations are expressive and cool and they are one of the best-looking females in the game. Au'Ra Male: The spikiest and edgiest of them all! They look great and the horns and tails are really cool looking. Definitely a good choice for an anti-hero fantasy. Au'Ra Females: They are on equal standing with Miquo'te Females, they are almost indistinguishable. The way to tell them apart is one is a cat girl and the other is a lizard girl. They look great in glam, but their animations are more reserved and restrained, unlike the cat girls. Viera Males: They are the most beautiful male models in the game. Looking amazing and cute in games and their emotes are good. Viera Females: The most beautiful female race in the game, looking amazing in all glams and having the best starting gear out there. Their emotes are just ok. Hrothgar Male: Adorable big lion dudes that look like they give the best hugs. They are precious and have the cutest sitting pose in the game! Hrothgar Females: Are not yet in-game, but when they will I will update this post.
@@TheGamingPanthorax Ask and thou shall receive! Female Hrothgar: Absolute perfection, with a strong and lithe build they can fit comfortably in any job fantasy! With their built muscles they can fit perfectly the tank and melee fantasy, but the more animalistic look gives them an air of mysticism which fits amazingly with the mage and healer fantasy. Their emotes are a combination of proper and silly giving them a more approachable demeanour. They have a very muscular body with visible muscles, however, they do not come off as blocky or unappealing, the designers gave great care in creating a female counterpart to the males that holds the essence of the race while keeping them appealing and pleasing to the eyes! Overall I would say that they are absolutely a success!
2013: Make Highlander (F) character 2013-2021: Be annoyed at animation issues 2021: Fantasia to Midlander (F) and change name 2022: Fantasia to Wildwood Elezen (F) 2022-2023: Be happy.
I play male bun but I agree with hrothgars they aren’t only good players but they are actually the nicest people ever I have never came across a rude one if I wasn’t so awkward I would befriend every hrothgar I meet lol
"Tall women beautiful" jump cuts to my twink bunnyboi in pink gear while you say "only bottom people play male viera", Kou you spoil me as you describe me and my bunnyboi perfectly XD
I think every race in ffxiv is great. Honestly if youre in depth with how you would be as a character, then ya bound to pick what you feel is right. For me it's all about the energy/vibe/personality...and i believe Fem Thighlander has one of the best personalities out of most races....also the default dance is THEE BEST DANCE IN THE GAME!!!!...i even made a music vid about it. haha
Same! :D I appreciate the love we're getting in the video and thread; usually it's just "You're a furry". That's like going to read a horoscope, and the entry just says "Taurus: You were born in the spring". It's true, but not what we came here for.
In seriousness, I am a major fan of Vieras as well. Love the aesthetics of them. Male Au Ras get nothing but love from me, especially if they are played legitimately and are well designed. Thank you for repping the FemRoes and Vieras, especially the males. :)
Before becoming a perma lala...I ran around for a month and a half as a Magnai cosplay. I was pleasantly surprised how many people loved seeing that. He gets a lot of crap from the player base but I think he is hilarious.
The balls on this guy for showing he plays Koikatsu. A man of culture 😂 As an all around Au Ra enjoyer, really loved the video! Loved seeing the classy Au Ra 👀 I approve of the statement made about having the option to change the male run…please Yoshi 🥺
I used to play a basic ponytail female miqo'te, but then I came to my senses and fanta'd into a male miqo'te. I straight up made him look like an Original Character Do Not Steal right out of Deviantart and I love him for it. While he has the basic pvp hair his lion tail and dark blue skin makes him unique. (Seriously though, why does NO ONE use the lion tail, it's so fucking CUTE!)
male miqo'te player here and the lion tails are so cool! i myself use the big floof tail but have mad respect for the lion tails! i cant see myself fanta'ing though, because i love my ear wiggles and tail swishes too much lol. kinda nice being min height catboi though, when i'm 5'11 irl XD
I like Thighlander women for the decently big tall, but also those goddamn emote animations. They're so full of personality and I fell in love with them the moment I saw them doing that silly little dance of theirs
I main a max height male Hellsguard Tank, and have since the day I first started playing the game. Occasionally I consider switching to a Wrothgar, but every time I see this absolute unit in a cutscene, decked out in platemail, it just.. it FITS. I try to play him as a dude who bases his opinion on others entirely on their merits and actions, he doesn't scoff at a Lala for not reaching his knees, or female Aura for having almost no muscle mass, and he's always ready with a smile, a laugh or a joke. Serious when he needs to be, but mostly just a big, cheeky goblin. And people seem to appreciate that. I'm still a Sprout, haven't even been playing for a full year, and I've almost hit 500 commendations. The first few, I'll grant, were during ARR when people saw the symbol next to my name and gave them to me as encouragement, but now I notice then when there's an opportunity to interact with a group, to joke or tease or be cheeky, that's when I get the most. Basically, I think this is just a longwinded way of agreeing with your assessment. I don't have Culinarian as my character, but just being a genuine dude and enjoying what you do when you're size of a barn door and by all rights could throw everyone else around like a caber, seems to make people happy, and that makes ME happy :)
When I started the game, I was drawn to Miqo but refused to pick one because I knew everyone views them as the most basic of basic... so I picked a Duskwight Elezen woman. She was fine but considering IRL I'm a cat mum of two and I'm also cursed with the human version of The Zoomies™ (ADHD), I eventually re-started the game as a tanned skin, ginger haired Moonkeeper Miqo. And I ADORE her. The feisty little grin that shows her teefs, the way her lil' ears droop down when she's sad, the huge intense pupils that shine when she's gazing at Aymeric... I mean at Haurchfant... I mean at G'raha.... ugh. She's just so cute. But still manages to look pretty badass in damn near all her outfits, as well as when she pops an LB. I guess it's all about what characters fit the way you want to envision your WoL! I love all the races though. My husband is a Bun Boi, so hearing that he's a bottom...heh. I will have to investigate >w>
I originally picked Lala because I wanted to try and make my character as much like vivi as possible and wanted to be as different from myself as possible so I chose short. Best decision ever he was a blast to play for years, there is nothing more entertaining then a Lala tank with a party of Ros, happened once and only once but it was my best memory. Recently though I finally got board of my appearance and decided to switch races. Was really hard to pick but I chose Giraffe girl. I'm honestly loving how elegant and stylish she is. I think I set her hight to my irl hight and she's on the shorter end.
Lalafell player here, I don't use voice 1 I tend to use Voice like...12? It's shared with the Elezen. That aside, a fun summary and I appreciate the fact you didn't make them out to be a joke like so many others seem to.
i think they are really cute. my very first made character in the trial version was actually a lalafell.. i decided to pick the game up again (cuz the first time i played i tried upgrading but it didn't work i also made 2 characters one for solo play and one to play with a friend cuz i didn't want to progress on my own) but for some reason my lalafell from the trial is now just gone. so i am left with just my cat girl (aint bad ether but i tend to gravitate to the tiny races in games..like in Tera where my main was an ellin who used a bow) so now i'm torn between making a new lalafell or making a rabbit boy.. i do also like the dragon like ones though.. but idk atm
Yeah the only reason I've never race changed to viera is actually pretty simple. My glamour chest for hat slot is COMPLETELY FULL! I have a hat collection that makes some developers probably shriek in fright. Nearly ALL of them can't work with viera...😭😭😭 So...staying Au ra raen until Squeenix gets rid of the hat limits on viera.
I like a bit stronger body on my character. Female roegadyn, viera and highlander all look good to me. But viera are too reserved in their emotes. Not sure why I disliked highlander, maybe too generic faces? Roegadyn just balances it all out: they way their body looks and moves and the emotes. If only they could get a muscular booty to match the rest, they would be perfect. (Seriously what's up with all the races having a pretty much non-existent booty?)
me being a bottom and purposely made my male Viera be able to top me because im a bottom? Yeah. Bottoms play male Vieras there's no two ways around it lol
I actually do like hyur a lot. Especially middies are so cute and adorable, I honestly prefer them over any fem'ra or miqo. I think it is because about 90% of them run around without barely wearing any armor, if you get what I mean. And tall buff femroes? absolutely adore them
Hrothgar main, I'm always worried folks might get frustrated with me being clueless dps in duty finder so I spend way too much time practicing my rotation, openers, watching dungeon/boss guides and keeping my ilvl up. So far no one's gotten mad tho!
I just want to say thank you from a midlander hyur through and through. And honestly I think there's not many of us out there. I always see other races but hyurs are kind of difficult to come across.
For males, Hyur is actually the most played race (end game) followed by Miqote! For females it's mostly miqo and aura girls, followed by lalafell, viera and hyur being very close in numbers! Then Elezen and Roe are the forgotten step children that no one gives love. :( So fret not! You're definitely not alone.
I thought we were going to get past the male Au Ra without mentioning the run cycle animation, and snuck in right at the end! Elezen are such a rarity that either you only see one, or you see twenty because they all know one another and have to stick together, I love that about the players.
on my duskwight, i added every duskwight player i saw to my friends list after i saw how few and far between we were that group on my list was a grand total of about 20 people after seven years ksdjksjksj
Then you have us lalafel, where we immediately are friends with each other after just saying hello...and will be friends with everyone else shortly afterwards. It is honestly great for an introvert like me cause everyone approaches me lol. I have helped elezen people find each other completely by accident. I stand around ul'dah semi often when I am waiting on things. Saw an elezen so I climbed up on the planter behind them (they were sitting on a bench) and hung out with them. Well, a lala interacting with people invites other lalas by default...and a group of lalas interacting with people immediately causes others to come over. We had a group of like 30 elezen in one spot, I was legit shocked to see so many of them in one place at one time!
Being a lalafell, receiving cookies and head pats is both gratifying, and insulting. On one hand IM A POWERFULL PALADIN GOSH DARNIT 😒 on the other hand, mmmm cookies and affirmation☺️☺️☺️❤️❤️
Femroe (Hellsguard) player here since 3.0. I was immediately charmed by their animations. And those noses. Back when I started you could go weeks of playing without seeing another femtoe, I think they are a bit more common now.
I started as Au Ra because they're like special. Idk maybe because it's not like everyday I'm going to see scale characters (with less scales) that are beautiful and bunny and cat girls were overrated 🤣 as for Lalafel a lot of rpg games have smol potatoes. But after HW until end of ShB I was among the fantasia addicts, I kept changing (to all) races more than I should have in a month which led to almost 3 months of sub lol. But I sticked to Hyur the longest because she was beautiful and I was broke to change race Until I finally put my hands up and saying well I met Aymeric as Au Ra so Imma go back to as Au Ra lol 😆
Aymeric is such a simp to au ra though xD It's most likely bias, but I don't see Aymeric try to be so hard romantically with any other race besides Au Ra females.
i was contemplating fantasiaing to catgirl after 2 years of viera...this made me not want to anymore and made me realise just how top tier viera are, thank you v much
I had someone come up to me in game and DM me "Glad to see someone else who plays female Elezen, there's not enough of us, we're dope" and I've never felt so seen. I also designed my character sight unseen as a gentle, stoic giant who looks way scarier than she is, and the fact that the game then makes you basically limited to nodding at people and smiling meaningfully felt like it was designed for me specifically
I've stayed Miqo the longest, but switch it up occasionally to Au Ra and Viera. I just can't stick with one forever cause I love them all. But... once female Hrothgar is released, I am absolutely upgrading from cat girl to lioness woman cause OMG how could I NOT?!
us hrothgar gotta represent, its so funny cause everytime i have any contact with another one it just feels like a sort of automatic brotherhood between us i dont know what it is but its pretty great to be one, but yeah i cant wait to see how the females turn out XD
I do wonder sometimes, I play Hrothgar myself(I just find it the most likable, with male Elezen as a close second), if we sometimes get some actual hate for no reason, I know that it's runs counter to what you said, but like yesterday, I was running some dungeons as Astro, I did everything right with heals, buffs etc, although I did make some mistakes in mechanics(was the first time doing that dungeon and no one died) but afterwards one of the party members started spamming /slap at me for no reason, a catgirl, I honestly don't know why and it's not really the first time either. Still, for the life of me I can't race change to anything else, I love my Hrothgar to much, some more hairstyle and other options would be very much apreciated though.
I didn’t finish the video but I was heart broken to hear that the Xaela race was being used for edgelords and went I choice that race I was like “I’m gonna be a dragon, call me a dragon borne”. I’m definitely gonna try my best to add more color to my precious dragon boy also I agree on that running animation, I was like “does all characters run like this, it looks weird” so I do hope that they changes some things slightly for that animation.
This was a great video to watch. Been waiting for the day to be uploaded and I couldn't stop smiling the entire time. Also was a great pleasure to be the edgy Highlander in the background during the Hyur part.
I play a Viera, played an Au Ri, I love everything about Au Ris, their animation set, their looks the lil tail that moves when you run. But there's only one thing that makes me stay Viera, the height. I love being a tall character and the tallest Au Ri is still shorter than most Miqot'es and I just can't with that. If Au Ris could be tall that'd be my dream race ngl.
I've played more than one race in the game, but I always go back to my catgirl. Just, the expressive emotes really do it for me. I also have a hard time giving up my fluffy tail. The bun girls are just too reserved for me. Au Ra girls are reserved, but have an innate "cuteness" to them which makes them charming. Bun boys though, they have more personality in their emotes and I could totally make a boy band with them no problem.
I really liked how the female viera look and move, but their emotes felt really flat to me. So I am sticking with female roegadyn for my main, because I am not a fan of the girly cuteness. of the female aura and miqote. Though I did like miqote emotes, lots of energy :). Your comment got me thinking about trying out bun boy for an alt though.
I use a Hrothgar..honestly because If I select any Humanlike Race I get the compulsion to make it actually look like me IRL so..yeah I kinda just like to not have that compulsion and not risk someone going “Wait-a minute..I know you.”
I started the game in late HW. I knew nothing about it, just that I loved Final Fantasy. I went in planning to make a Hyur, even designed one, then thought I should at least take a glance at each combination. So I selected male Au Ra, it didn’t grab me, and thought, “Wow, I bet a female of this race looks imposing.” That was it. I was hooked. I’ve been a Xaela dragon girl since.
I looked at male au ra, wasn't really feeling the finished product. Switched to female and thought the designs were good. Then I found out they were short and all the emotes were cutesy. Despite these misconceptions I haven't fantasiaed.
@@TheSpicyLeg I wanted to play a rough and tumble xaela warrior, so the short, hip-cocked, pigeon-toed stance with the demure emotes really didn't fit. The overall look is too nice for me to criticize though.
I've used fantasia to look like Godbert before I've started Heavensward's Manderville quests. Maybe not 1 to 1 clone, but close enough (especially glasses). But oh boy, had a best laugh in a while to see 'twin brothers' in one cutscene (slightly shorter than the original tho).
don't care if im basic, I saw the base form of the keeper of the moon miqote and I'm pretty sure my eyes sparkled. Something about the slightly cheeky grin just clicked. And nothing can make me change my mind. the little twitches, the small movements just fit- it probably helps that when my sister and best friend saw me in game, both of them took one second of me looking up at them with a cheeky grin and a slight twitch of the ears and both of them said in sync "Yea, this fits you all too well". I like all of the races but I think my only other choice would have been lalas, and I already struggle with climbing due to my height, no thanks! (plus I just find it funny how clothing reacts to my ears and tail) prolly helps that my sister is a bun bun and my best friend plays a hunk of a highlander already.
Hyur: basic Male au-ra: funny run Female au-ra: she's adorable and I just want to protect her Male miqote: meh Female miqote: weeb Hrothgar: the rockstar of ffxiv Highlander: a taller basic Elezen: meh Roe: wow, big lady Male viera: oh right you guys exist Female viera: step on me mommy
i used to play as miq'ote and au ra (really wish roegadyn was avaiblie back then) and i really enjoyed your video. it's nice to see that the fandom is still full of mostly positive players.
I don't care if it's considered basic, I made a dark-skinned blonde braided ponytail catgirl monk and I love her. I love character creation in games, I have about 300+ characters created across the 15 games that give me CC. The Soul Calibur games alone have at least 150 or so. I rarely use them as avatars, I like making backstories for them. The thing I don't like is when a game gives you a million CC options but only 3 character slots (looking at you Monster Hunter World) every game with character creation must have least 25 slots minimum on one world. I don't like that each world is limited to only 8 character slots, I like to use 1 of each race, each tribe, and each sex. I use this approach on all games with CC if the game lets me.
i started as a male hyur in 2013 in the beta and at the start of the game. after a LONG break i came back and restarted as a catgirl and stayed that way until endwalker. I switched to female hyur (mid and highlander) a lot. I have a hard time staying as a highlander cuz I have a hard time making a nice looking face. I love the look of viera but im not big on the ears and tail. atm im a female midlander but i've been wanting to switch back to catgirl for a little bit. i've got 3 or 4 fantasias left so i might be making a switch soon....
I have always had a weird kind of respect for players in games like FFXIV, WoW and alike, that, of aaall the choices of races and combinations available, they chose to be Human. There is just something special about it, and I honestly vibe with that
All the races in 14 are basically just humans... You've got normal humans. Bigger humans. Smaller humans. Human with cat ears. Humans with rabbit ears. Humans with fur. They're all basically identical...

And my name is Suzume and I'd often have people say "Suzume has the zoomies again."
Get it? Suzume Suzoomie. XD

I went with WAR fem viera because Fran from 12 really impressed me when she went full-on berserk and smashed fully-armoured troops to bits, haha.
that has always been one of my favourite tropes in media.
A big, burly man that's just a gentle soul. Makes one feel it's all going to be worth it.
IMO, I prefer playing the "human" race because it's just far easier to roleplay as XD

He said: "Female au ra are the love of my life!"
And I felt that.
I'm also a 5'10" woman, but I chose Miqo'te -- partly to *not* be tall, lol. But I always like seeing Elezen.
Female Elezen are actually the best looking females in the game. The problem is their necks.
@Jordan Breon Which is nothing the right necklace or a high collar can't make look proportionate!
@Sonder Sorry you had to go through those weird experiences.
> I get genuine compliments for being pretty and having nice glams
Yeah I won't lie, as a FElezen player, it's both so funny and surreal the amount of times people have /tell me either complimenting how my Elezen looks, or the glam. I tried FMiqo, FViera, FHighland and FRoe in the past, but they've never felt right, and something always felt off so I always swapped back to FElezen
And @Jordan in this comment thread mentioned their necks being a problem, and eh I've never found that to be an issue myself since my char is always wearing either the Wayfarer's Necklace or the Goatskin Choker, or just having puffy cute glam.
yes im an average height guy who likes tall women, sue me lol
I thought the males were like excluded and only allowed in during mating season? That's typically how amazonian/Matriarchal communities are depicted.
It's very eerily similar to the way our society is headed.

i usually play Human in fantasy settings, sure, i'll play one of the more fantastic races later, but i'm a big fan of the "Badass Normal" trope. so if my character is about to face some mysthical creature, all i can say is, prepare to be defeated by the race version of oatmeal and water!
i almost take pride in the fact that, despite all the weird and crazy things i could play as in games, i'm content with being plain and boring by comparison.

Yep, no complaints there!

Playing a maxed height roe is hilarious because half the time they're barely fitting in a cutscene 😂

I came in with eyes narrow and left with a smile. Was an honor to be one of your featured midlanders 💕
Bruh
i was torn between femroe and femra tbh
When I saw Au Ra my literal reaction was "Dragon girl?! DRAGON GIRL?! We gotta be dragon girl, ya? YAS!"
I haven't actually flushed out his story much besides him wanting to see the world and coming back to visit his tribe bringing souvenirs and whatnot from his travels...at least its a bit of something Xd
Also no need to be ashamed of being a nerd I call myself a nerd as well!
I like this lore.

My opinion on all races:
Midlander Hyur Male: They are very cool, can fit almost any scenario and are generally good looking
Midlander Hyur Female: They are very cute, they can fit almost all scenarios and look very good in glams.

Like no lie, the first race I picked after fully activating my sub for FF14 was a Viera. And haven't once thought about changing.

That aside, a fun summary and I appreciate the fact you didn't make them out to be a joke like so many others seem to.
i think they are really cute. my very first made character in the trial version was actually a lalafell.. i decided to pick the game up again (cuz the first time i played i tried upgrading but it didn't work i also made 2 characters one for solo play and one to play with a friend cuz i didn't want to progress on my own) but for some reason my lalafell from the trial is now just gone. so i am left with just my cat girl (aint bad ether but i tend to gravitate to the tiny races in games..like in Tera where my main was an ellin who used a bow) so now i'm torn between making a new lalafell or making a rabbit boy.. i do also like the dragon like ones though.. but idk atm
@@litchtheshinigami8936 Make what makes you happy, your trial tater may be gone, but perhaps they can reborn anew.
As a wise man once said “Catgirls are the basic beaches of ffxiv”
Yeah the only reason I've never race changed to viera is actually pretty simple.
My glamour chest for hat slot is COMPLETELY FULL! I have a hat collection that makes some developers probably shriek in fright. Nearly ALL of them can't work with viera...😭😭😭
So...staying Au ra raen until Squeenix gets rid of the hat limits on viera.
Demon Slayer looks gorgeous, the animation is superb, and the music slaps but the story is just a typical shonen plot
I went with a female Roegadyn and I think she looks sooo good. Was a bit surprised that they are pretty much non existent :-(
I like a bit stronger body on my character.
"If you're a Huyr irl hit me up"
Damn, I'm a Lala irl :(
uh oh
My respect for you went up when you praised the Hrothgars^^
Hrothgar needs more hairstyles and i'd probably stick to that race, they have my favorite body proportions for various outfits..
I got into this game to play as a manly colorful male viera until I realized the lalas are really the master race. They're too powerful.
Each pet for a lalafells gives a perma buff
@@Kougaon when I play as a bunny boy I feel guilty for everything, but when I play as a lala, I feel like a God.
me being a bottom and purposely made my male Viera be able to top me because im a bottom? Yeah. Bottoms play male Vieras there's no two ways around it lol
The amount of bisexual panic in this video is immaculate.
So far no one's gotten mad tho!
tried bunny boy and i felt dirty
Elezen are such a rarity that either you only see one, or you see twenty because they all know one another and have to stick together, I love that about the players.
on my duskwight, i added every duskwight player i saw to my friends list after i saw how few and far between we were
that group on my list was a grand total of about 20 people after seven years ksdjksjksj
I love the edgy look of male aura, but I just can't get over the way they run.
Elezen players form packs.
Being a lalafell, receiving cookies and head pats is both gratifying, and insulting. On one hand IM A POWERFULL PALADIN GOSH DARNIT 😒 on the other hand, mmmm cookies and affirmation☺️☺️☺️❤️❤️
"Jojo Part 4 is the best" yeah, thats just facts
"Demon Slayer is mid, SpyXFamily is top" Yeah. Still facts. That's just objectively right.
I concur.
Agreed, even though Joseph Joestar is my favorite mc.
But I sticked to Hyur the longest because she was beautiful and I was broke to change race
Until I finally put my hands up and saying well I met Aymeric as Au Ra so Imma go back to as Au Ra lol 😆
Aymeric is such a simp to au ra though xD
It's most likely bias, but I don't see Aymeric try to be so hard romantically with any other race besides Au Ra females.
i was contemplating fantasiaing to catgirl after 2 years of viera...this made me not want to anymore and made me realise just how top tier viera are, thank you v much
I had someone come up to me in game and DM me "Glad to see someone else who plays female Elezen, there's not enough of us, we're dope" and I've never felt so seen.
I also designed my character sight unseen as a gentle, stoic giant who looks way scarier than she is, and the fact that the game then makes you basically limited to nodding at people and smiling meaningfully felt like it was designed for me specifically
Hard same. Fellow elezen female here haha
#ElezenSquad
5:35 There Are Always On There Shit!
Oh Do I Have A Story For You!
Either that or they're giving you the ol' slap on the rear for being a good sport. 😂
@@fairlyenjoyable haha I didn't know that was a thing
"Bottoms unite" as someone whos never played this game im genuinely concerned things are getting outta hand here.
I stopped listening after you said bunnies are master race. How about you take this helm and wear it...oh wait you can't. :3
nmMMMMMMMMM YA aura girls LOVE MY GIRL XIELA she'll beat me up and throw me across the continent while giggling with her high pitch voice WHAT OF IT
I didn’t finish the video but I was heart broken to hear that the Xaela race was being used for edgelords and went I choice that race I was like “I’m gonna be a dragon, call me a dragon borne”. I’m definitely gonna try my best to add more color to my precious dragon boy also I agree on that running animation, I was like “does all characters run like this, it looks weird” so I do hope that they changes some things slightly for that animation.
I learned nothing about what race I picked says about me lmao 🤣 this is gold but maybe rename to "how much sexual appeal kougaon sees in each race"😂😂😂
As an Elezen player, I take exception to being called a giraffe. The proper term is “Dhalmel”, as giraffes as we know them do not exist in Eorzea!
I use a Hrothgar..honestly because If I select any Humanlike Race I get the compulsion to make it actually look like me IRL so..yeah I kinda just like to not have that compulsion and not risk someone going “Wait-a minute..I know you.”
omg this video was an absolute joy to watch
I started the game in late HW. I knew nothing about it, just that I loved Final Fantasy. I went in planning to make a Hyur, even designed one, then thought I should at least take a glance at each combination. So I selected male Au Ra, it didn’t grab me, and thought, “Wow, I bet a female of this race looks imposing.”
That was it.
@@joshuayung5158 To this day, the hip sway with scale tail still is hypnotic. Haha!!
@@TheSpicyLeg I wanted to play a rough and tumble xaela warrior, so the short, hip-cocked, pigeon-toed stance with the demure emotes really didn't fit. The overall look is too nice for me to criticize though.
Those hot takes at the beginning instantly made me a subscriber. And I don’t even play FF 14 lol.
Part 4 master race
literally your best video yet kou
:D
Once I tried making a fem Au Ra with Heavensward launch, there was no going back, I am SO gay for them
I've used fantasia to look like Godbert before I've started Heavensward's Manderville quests.
(plus I just find it funny how clothing reacts to my ears and tail)
prolly helps that my sister is a bun bun and my best friend plays a hunk of a highlander already.
Hyur: basic
Male au-ra: funny run
Female au-ra: she's adorable and I just want to protect her
Male miqote: meh
Female miqote: weeb
Hrothgar: the rockstar of ffxiv
Highlander: a taller basic
Elezen: meh
Roe: wow, big lady
Male viera: oh right you guys exist
Female viera: step on me mommy
i used to play as miq'ote and au ra (really wish roegadyn was avaiblie back then) and i really enjoyed your video. it's nice to see that the fandom is still full of mostly positive players.
Thank you for pointing the male aura run out because it is the only thing that turns me off from playing the race. It's so stiff 😭
We need a playable canine race
I respect Hyur players because they have the courage to do what I and so many other players couldn't.
i started as a male hyur in 2013 in the beta and at the start of the game. after a LONG break i came back and restarted as a catgirl and stayed that way until endwalker. I switched to female hyur (mid and highlander) a lot. I have a hard time staying as a highlander cuz I have a hard time making a nice looking face. I love the look of viera but im not big on the ears and tail. atm im a female midlander but i've been wanting to switch back to catgirl for a little bit. i've got 3 or 4 fantasias left so i might be making a switch soon....
vieras don't have a tail
I have always had a weird kind of respect for players in games like FFXIV, WoW and alike, that, of aaall the choices of races and combinations available, they chose to be Human.
There is just something special about it, and I honestly vibe with that
lalafels are 2000 calories each
All the races in 14 are basically just humans...
You've got normal humans. Bigger humans. Smaller humans. Human with cat ears. Humans with rabbit ears. Humans with fur.
They're all basically identical...
