it doesn't use a membrane or domes for tactile feedback. The reason this keyboard feels so much better than that horrid overpriced Razer ornata is the Ornata was literally just a regular dome membrane keyboard with a clicker installed on the keystems. This is pretty much just a cherry mx style system with a two hard plastic sheet membranes standing in for the contacts. A springed plunger is why it can activate the switch before bottoming out, unlike the ornata, and clever routing of the sheet is how it does more than the usual 2 press of a cheap dome board. Also this thing uses clickbars like the coveted Kailh box switches, much better than the nasty shaking legos in a box experience of cherry mx blue.
I’m deciding between the Apex 3 or Apex 5 but I want to know if the keyboard has one usb head for the cable and has a usb in the keyboard so you can plug in the mouse to the keyboard. Great video 👍🏻
Thanks. For both the Apex 3 and 5 the cable is non detachable. There is also no USB port in the back of the keyboard for your mouse. Out of the two I would personally pick the Apex 5 as I much prefer the feel of a mechanical keyboard to a membrane keyboard
That's weird, the magnets held mine on pretty well. If I picked it up it would fall off but I could move it around the desk a little bit without it coming off. How bad is it?
@@Tekify Its just that one side attaches and the other side is hanging off a bit, not that bad but its very irritating. If I try to force both sides on, the magnets still force one on and one hangs a bit.
Hi great video! I also have this keyboard but I noticed there are 2 variations of a keyboard layout- the one with the bigger enter key ( the one you have) and the one shown in photos on the website. I have the same type as yours but the software puts me on the other one so some keys dont work- do you know any way to get past this as you have the correct software?
Thanks. Check the windows keyboard layout matches your keyboard, so if you press shift and the number 2 for example if you get a different character come up to what is on the keyboard then the windows settings might be the issue. If you have a big enter key it is likely to be a UK keyboard, so try changing your windows keyboard layout to UK. Let me know how you get on and I can try help more if that didn't work.
The keyboard was on UK layout. I saw a guy on reddit who had the same problems with the same keys but he had a apex pro. I did his method which was reboot the keyboard but it didn't work
Yeah I know, being on camera isn't something that came natural to me. I think I'm alot better in my newer videos but still obviously have alot to improve. It's not as easy as it looks, at least it wasn't for me

Loads of great info, really helpful review there!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it
1:36 sound test
Great review. I appreciate that you acknowledge things that are "cool but completely unnecessary". Feels like not enough people do that.
I’m buying this keyboard because I enjoy Steelseries products and I also have a weird obsession with the sound of the blue switch lol
My brother has this keyboard and when i used it it felt really responsive and it sounded nice
I might consider buying this now. Thanks!
Defenatily should
Really enjoyed this. Thanks
Tekify our comments are really helpful!
2:18 ig it's to make it's easier and bc they are people on ps4 and xbox
I just ordered one and wanted to make sure I made the right choice. After watching this I’m sure about it. Thanks!
Me too can’t wait
Me three
me 4
Its membrane
@Shelea it’s nice I like it! It is loud tho but the quality is great!
Great review bro but slow down Jesus
What do you mean
@@Zx_on_1 he means he’s talking too fast
Yeah I’m from the south buddy. I had to playback at 1/2 speed just to understand. 😁✌️
If you want blue switch and reg size get apex 5
super cool review
Thanks
I was thinking about buying it not knowing anything about it this was really helpful so I’m gonna ask for it
Hi mate, have you bought this keyboard? If yes, are you happy with it?
This man bought a keyboard for 150 dollars and a rival 3 for 30?? Cmon dude.
I have to use mice to review them
Good point
@@Tekify does this keyboard have a ripple effect i was going to get it
It has a spring . Its mechanical . Trust me . On the other hand look at razer ornata chroma. That has a membrane.
how did you do your name on the little screen
cool review i also did a review on the ducky one 2 sf but it wasnt that good lol
Would you recommend this or the razer ornata v2?
this
Thanks for this review, I almost fell for the gimmick.
so, the sound clicky from this keyboard is still not loud as the real cherry mx blue keyboard ??
I don't have them side by side to compare but from memory I would say it is as loud, or at least nearly as loud

what about the typing test??
how did you get the wrist rest to stick on? Mine keeps falling off

It sounds like one of the magnets might be broken, you could try contacting SteelSeries and see if they would be willing to send you a new wrist rest.

why is the enter diffrent ?
I'm in the UK so mine has a UK layout
is it as reactive as a normal blue switch ?
There's no noticeable difference but theoretically it could be slightly less (I think anyway)
Its membrane
what keycaps will fit this
Anything because they have Mx stems lfor be this board I have it myself
@@joshuaallan2880 Can you switch out the switches on this keyboard or does being hybrid prevent that
You can't no, unless a keyboard says "hotswapable" then the switches are soldered in
@@Tekify Thanks
The screen is nesasery because this keyboard is compatible with console so they can customise their keyboard
Thx
What of case is that
?
cheers
Is it mechanical or not
Partially, if you will only accept a yes or no then yes it is mechanical. But it is a hybrid mechanical keyboard. Hope that helps
Tekify yes it does
Tekify overall do u think it’s a good keyboard
Yeah I didn't have any problems with it, I think it's quite good for the price too
The switch pushes on a layer of membrane
broo nice pc case
Thank you
IS THAT A-A ASTON MARTIN!
It is indeed
Put sounddd
that is actually a membrane board
No its not
No the apex 3 is
I can guarantee that it feels better than "true" mechanical. My older Logitech G513 was shit compared to this. I absolutely love it.
How about talking just a little bit slower and more natural next time...
Yeah I know, being on camera isn't something that came natural to me. I think I'm alot better in my newer videos but still obviously have alot to improve. It's not as easy as it looks, at least it wasn't for me
@@Tekify hey bro, i think you're talking is perfect speed and you are very talented with these videos 👍
Not that great of a review. You're being a bit too nit picky. it shows in your room.
