Honestly I think this is one of the best Rick & Morty episodes. Not so much because it's extraordinarily entertaining or funny, but mainly because it brilliantly encapsulated some really thought-provoking ideas within a time span of only 20 minutes. I thought this episode was quite deep, but maybe it's just me.

I haven't seen any comments pointing it out, but the first fascist bit with fascist Morty wanting 'classic Rick and Morty adventures' was the creators calling their own fans fascists for constantly making demands of the show.
i was also thinking the multipule fascist universes was about how so many countries are becoming super right wing all over again
The first half of season 4 is pretty much just a big middle finger to fans that expect certain stories from the writers. Makes me enjoy them even more lol

The movie references usually either tend to be simply thematic or just a few at best if any. Edge of tomorrow was like Groundhog Day but he was a like space marine or something and could save everyone. I think it was several of them that were Groundhog Day and they had to meet up again each death.

I don't think it's the creators aim to keep topping themselves. Around season 3 they were commissioned for 70 more episodes and so they want to return to the more standalone format of season 1 with more subtly. They even have the characters say this at the end of season 3 and the beginning of season 4! I think you guys will enjoy Rick and Morty more if you stop comparing and just engage with the ideas they present each episode. The show wants to surprise you with occasional serialisation but the fun is in its creativity

So for some reason I didn't really like season 4 first time around so didn't finish it nor watch reactions to it. I'm not sure why because I rewatched it and enjoyed it! So I binged season 5 too and am all up to date with 6. I've been catching up with various reaction channels but left you guys until last as I feel you have the best reactions. Despite seeing it many times, the lunch scene with the wasp familly is so weird to watch.
Wasp-Rick respecting his familly, being polite and considerate, accepting Morty can't go with him ... That's so far away from what the Smith Familly is ... That is so ... strange.

I'm inclined to believe that the Beth that stayed on Earth is the original she experiences "Imposter Syndrome" and runs off seeking some kind of reaffirmation, which the other Beth doesn't seem to have any emotional connection with her family. And while Jerry is kinda dumb, he is the one that actually knows Beth on a emotional level. The real Beth couldn't turn her emotions off and totally disconnect herself from her family, because- unlike Rick or whatever he might think- she's not a psychopath. But that's simply my take on the matter...

I must put in a slight warning. Historically the Rick and Morty fandom had become beyond toxic during the break between season 3 and season 4 and there were some allegations brought up against one of the creators Dan Harmon on certain actions.
That Dan Harmon accepted and actually went to work on fixing them in his personal/professional life.
Rick and Morty, then went out and hired female writers and staff members to balance some of those issues out.
The fandom in parts (very vocal, very quippy) did not accept that and did what the internet does, when small children get upset at the playground when all the *"other"* kids are not playing right.
This season is the Creators response to all of that.
*not color or gender or orientation, but the battle between what they considered "Real Fans" and what they considered "Fake Fans" and they were lumping everyone in, so in their hatred of things, it was at least all inclusive....hahahaha

The parallels found in Rick's clone hopping story line are jaw dropping. Rick bounces between fascist dystopias to then end up in the wasp dimension. WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant) also being the acronym for white Americans who descend from "old money" read abhorrently racist money. It is here that the outright idea of fascism is shunned and mocked, and Rick has found a lovingly family unit of insects. However, in the following scene we are subjected to the WASP consuming, alive, an insect iteration of the show's most recurring black character and his offspring, an allegory to the savagery of slavery, jim crow, the civil rights movement, private prison industry, the ever present police violence against black bodies and the politics surrounding it, etc. All grave atrocities that wealthy white Americans
have benefited from for centuries.
The upper white elite of America, or WASP, may no longer ascribe to the outright proclaiming of fascism or racism, but still benefit from and support systems and structures specifically designed for the disenfranchisement, torment, and suffering of minorities and their offspring.

We got to see a lot more of Morty's evil side in this episode and that he's a fascist in an alternate universe.
I really really disliked most of season 4. The first episode was one of the highlights for me. Having said that the last couple of episodes were pretty good in my opinion so it picks up at the end. Hang in there.
The last five episodes of the Season or going to be different from any other episodes
the episode parodies arrival and edge of tomorrow, one movie about a linguist that comunicates with aliens and prevents a war after telling the chinese general his wife's last words after learning the alien's language to see the future, and edge of tomorrow, a combination between groundhog day and independence day
don't you think is very interesting how morty literally had his fate on his hand and holo rick was helpless in doing anything, and he died just after he became a god?
BTW, the nazi universes are a critic of the toxic fans that want the show to be episodic again and less political, morty matured into being more assertive but not as much as rick, he didn't cared about the massacre he did for jessica, which is very justified morty kill those asshole bullies, as seen on the death crystal, there is no pacifist way out of dealing with that serial killer on the making
If only yall knew how real this episode is. Its insane it even got the pass to be aired. Luckily everyone just thinks its a joke. But this episode is essentially the dark version of opening your third eye. The ability to literally control your universe by understanding decisions, understanding reading signs and manipulation of that to your will. Just a theory in a way, no way to really prove it

The first half of season 4 is pretty uneven, in my opinion. It's still better than most shows, but it's like Interdimensional Cable 2 compared to the rest of the series being Interdimensional Cable. Luckily the 2nd half of the season returns to form. It actually feels like the creators aren't enjoying the work anymore in the first half, and want to take it out on the fans, but once they have their fit, they're okay.
This season isn't bad but its definitely the worst season. It gets a lot better in the second half though
Season 3 is the worst out of all of the seasons, except for the 1st episode of season 3..
I personally didn't like season 4
