- Was your refund returned to the IRS?
Can you see that you were due a refund but the IRS but you never received the check? Maybe your check was returned, lost, or even worse...destroyed.
You can still get your refund if the refund statute date has not expired. You need to fill out IRS Form 3911.
Your first resort should be - Where is My Refund? and then pulling your IRS transcripts - www.americasfa...
If those have failed, check out this video so you can get to the bottom of what's going on with your refund as soon as possible.
I faxed the form yesterday. How can you know if they received the form and process it? And how long does it typically take for them to process? Thank you!
@@AmericasFavEA what’s number should I call to confirm the fax is received?
@@TrnTipsy your fax machine gives you a confirmation.
@TrnTipsy I did one for a taxpayer the week of May 15th and they received the check this week.
Nice. Did they have dd or paper check? @@AmericasFavEA
My wife did an aduit and on her transcript it's supposed to be a 9,100,000.00 or 9.1 million sent in a paper check from form 8888. She never received the check. I would love to have a conversation about this if at possible
@gnett1022 my assumption is that the Allocation of Refund form is incorrect with an amount like $9.1 million. But if that's accurate and less than 3 years old by all means please book a consultation at www.Bowenstaxsolutions.com
Hi there. Thanks a lot for the video. It helped a lot. But I do have a question that if my refund check is lost, will I only get a new check rather than changing the type of refund as direct deposit? Thanks for you time!
You're welcome! They'll send it via check again.
@@AmericasFavEA Thanks! I just called IRS and sadly I couldn't change refund type 🥲 That's so annoying especially when you know check will be easily lost 💔
@@PatrickGuanKKK 😢
What if you are divorced and your ex does not want to sign the form that you filled jointly?
😭 is it possible they already received the refund? There's no way (other than court) to make them sign it.
Is this form can be use to federal and state refund? Or I need fill up one for each?
This is for your Federal refund only.
Hi. Thanx for info. I filled one out over 60 days ago. FInally got a rep on the line and they say they never seen it. Told me they wld turn one in for me themselves. Now they hang up when my number calls. Any advice??
It's a rough time to have to do phone communication with the IRS. When you mailed it did you send it certified? If not that's my recommendation so you have proof that you sent it.
@@AmericasFavEA hi! So got another rep online and they say they stated my 3911 search over 2 weeks ago. So hopefully i get a check soon.
@@CerseiLannister999 that's great! Thanks for the update.
If one does not remember the "Date Filed" in line 7, what should one write there? I only remember the month and year I probably filed. Please help 🙏🏻
You can get the date from your account or return transcript online.
Do you have to put any information at the top of the sheet? EIp
If the IRS didn't send it to you pre-filled you won't fill that part out.
Is there a way to check that the Form 3911 has been received and is being processed?
You can confirm it was received if you sent it certified. The most recent one I did for a client took about 29 days from the day I mailed it until they received their refund.
I received the first stimulus check. never cashed it and it expired. i filled out a recovery rebate credit for it (which the irs told me i shouldnt have). The lady on the phone told me to fill out this form and fax it. Does that sound right to you? am i still eligble? should i select the "lost" box in my case?
Sounds right, however I believe the deadline for the first one has passed.
Trying to get my 2020 refund am I to late
@@gionnemmac unfortunately, yes you are.
So if its a paper check i don't need to fill out banking info?
