Anna Torv is amazing in this scene. Just the way you you see her smile fade when she realizes what Peter is telling her. Heartbreaking.

Even Peter didn't understand that statement would hurt her..
He was just objectively stating the differences to try n prove that he was tricked.
But that was tht worst thing he could HV said at that moment.
Especially bcus its so freaking true 😅

Olivia's subtle reaction was perfect as well. She got defensive for a brief moment before continuing to listen.
@@jeffescanto He definitely played into the "stupid men" stereotype a bit there haha. Too much objectivity and too little thought of the effect his words would have.
The look on Peter's face after she says "my mail was opened"...He knows he has to break her heart. One of the best episodes.
So many years later and all that resolution - and I still can't handle the angst in this scene!!
This is my favorite series of all time and I just finished another rewatch this week. The way Olivia says "does everyone know" shatters my heart into pieces EVERY TIME. She's so embarrassed! She made herself vulnerable, she opened up and admitted her feelings... And then Fauxlivia stepped in to capitalize on the happiness our Olivia should have earned from that. And Liv knows, she just KNOWS, that everyone is going to look at her with pity. Everyone who watched her come out of her shell over the years, everyone who knew why she was so determined to get Peter back, everyone who watched Peter love being IN LOVE with her... It's crushing.
She is such a great character. You can tell she tries so hard to forgive him and understands the circumstances of his being tricked, but the hurt is still there. Such pain can be overwhelming when the damage is done to your life and you start to lose trust in others or what makes you you.
She's my favorite fictional character and one of the best examples of a "strong" character in my opinion, male or female.
Urgh, the acting was just so perfect. The way her wide smile faded with realisation and the somewhat fractured P/O score in the background was so emotional. Just WOW.
Agree. AnnaT is wonderful. JoshJ is the same goofy actor no matter what. It's like Pacey talking to Joey trying to decide how to tell Dawson their together. Same bad acting, lol
I love how well Anna Torv says "It's fine" in such a way that it feels insincere. This drama was the great understated type the actually exists between people, holding themselves and others to different standards and thinking more or less of them as a result. God I want to rewatch this show, it's been so bloody long.
I've watched the whole thing on a binge (I think it was only the second time after the original TV viewing) and wow I was amazed how I've liked it *even more*. I'm not one who usually comes back to tv shows so there's that. Now I'm buying the blu rays because this is something to treasure, definitely.
"I'm here now." And his face falls.
But it's a little different for Olivia. She actually thought she was someone else, but Peter could, at least subconciously, tell the differences between the two.
This scene breaks my heart.
Anna is an amazing actress. Everything about Olivia's demeanor is near perfection in this scene. The way you can see the exact moment she understands what Peter is trying to tell her is utterly heartbreaking. The way she tries to downplay everything and justify it to herself in order to avoid the reality of the situation is incredibly realistic...and also heartbreaking. This whole episode is heartbreaking.
this was the most comprehensive series i ever watched , it was totally and uttery brilliant

Sad...I don't think Olivia has smiled this much in all seasons combined together as she did in the first 10-12 minutes of this episode...until 2:11...it all goes downhill from there. Great acting from both! Loved this episode. Less than two weeks to go unil Jan 21st!

When she says "I'm here now" and "You belong with me", you just know it was gonna hurt twice as much! :(
"My mail was opened" i wanted to scream right then cause she doesn't realize that she did so much more. This scene breaks my heart Peter was so honest and brought a new meaning to the phrase "the truth hurts". It's sad cause Olivia actually thought she was Fauxlivia and Peter actually noticed the changes and did NOTHING
He noticed that she was happier. He thought it was because of HIM.

I give Peter 10 points for attempting to reveal all from his POV. He started out well.
I wish they would have let us see Peter's face when he said, "for you, for us."

I do not believe that Olivia would have slept with the other Olivia boyfriend because her love for Peter was to powerful.
I don't either. She kept seeing Peter the whole time. She didnt even kiss that other Olivia man.

@mupty Jus' look at her smile fadin' away bit by bit..So heart-breakin'..If someone doesn't cry with that it means they're dead on the inside..
This episode had an even better ending, but this scene was excellent..just watch Olivia face fall when she realizes what Peter is telling her. She tries to reason it away, but you just know it bugs her. And it keeps bugging her more and more as the episode goes on, until she unloads on Peter. And really, what could Peter really say to make Olivia feel better. No matter how he explained it, it would not sound comforting..
Anna is fantastic ! This is just heartbreaking, I'm so crying rigth now...
everything he said about her was good, not what she's gonna want to hear from him. omg, anna trov is awesome!!! this epi. all the excuses that she comes up with, are heartbreaking bc you know she knows they aren't true, she admits it later to him that is the opposite of what she did, that he was the only thing that got her through it

I love her eyes at 1:57 and his at 1:58. Those are looks of love.
as hard hard as that was to watch (not for lack of superb acting or anything) I think it was vital that Peter admitted what happened and I think it will help in the end.
Just one of the many amazing scenes between Anna and Josh in this episode.
She was in a little bit of denial
I believe Anna said that this was her best work on the show. I find it hard to argue. Bascially, by the end of the show, she was essentially playing 3 different versions of herself, including one that was...well..not herself..:) That can't be easy to do.
@shaun3701 I agree, what the hell was Peter thinking no woman wants to hear about all the good things u saw in the other woman.

think about it..our olivia was in AU, if bolivias boyfriend wasnt out of town to help with smallpox patients, they wouldve slept together, so i dont think that she should be angry at peter. he did nothing wrong
Olivia didn't just jump in bed with men though. She was way more cautious. And she was still her. I don't know that she would have.

@MayBrainLee1 Thing is that judgin' her for the fans' opinions is stupid (no offense).From the beginnin' this show has shown us nothin's black or white only.There's a lot o'colours in between.That's what happens here,'cause none of'em is to blame but they're both sufferin'..That's the thing,how complicated it is.
