      Haha. thank you. And it's not an every wash day thing. I usually do it on special occasions, when I have a little extra time, or when I just want really defined curls!

      Sparkle LaBelle. Same! If I want a really defined look I gel the whole section smooth and use a paddle brush for the last couple passes. Then I watch all my curls clump up and form that way.

      Ciera Johnson did you use the same shampoo and conditioner that she used ? Or different products to get the shingles

    • @ProduCiera
      @ProduCiera 8 років тому +3

      Sade Garrett I used different products. I used VO5 Tea Therapy Vanilla mint tea Clarifying shampoo,and coconut oil and Aussie Mega Moist conditioner as a deep-co. For gel I used the ORS Lock and Twist gel because it has a cream moisturizer mixed into it,and seal everything in with the Jamaican black castor oil. Also,I put a shea-butter,coconut oil cream(naptural85's recipe) on my clean hair 😧 it sounds like a lot,but the results are beautiful. Also also 😅 Mahogany Curls made a fb page for a healthy hair journey,you should check it out,she just made a vid about it ☺

    • @sadegarrett7793
      @sadegarrett7793 8 років тому

      Ciera Johnson lol omg that definitely sounds like a lot ! I follow mahogany on UA-cam, Instagram & I have joined the Facebook group ! I am actually transitioning rather than doing the BC. I really want to achieve this look but I definitely do not want to try so many different products you know ? But in order to find what works best for me, I have to for now lol. & I know it will most definitely take time. Thank you so much.

    • @ProduCiera
      @ProduCiera 8 років тому

      Sade Garrett No problem 😊 I transitioned for a year,and got fed up and cut it. I'll say this:go through the TWA phase,short hair is fun,and you can actually do a lot with it. Good luck in your journey 👍💖

    I found this looking for a quick tutorial video to send my textured clients for home styling- this is exactly one of the methods I use as a stylist, behind the chair, to set up the base of a textured style. You're adorable ❤
    Try using a diffuser to create the product cast, on the end of your dryer, if you don't have one you can actually use a sock!!

    Great video - thanks for sharing! I agree this is more for special occasions for me because it takes SO long with my hair. I saw in a comment below you said it takes you about 30+ min to do this style. It takes me 30+ min to style my wash and go on detangled hair so this would take probably 1-1.5 hours on my 4 a/b/c textured shoulder length hair (but still easier to me than a twist out!). Also I find the opposite for drying is true for me - blow drying makes it frizzier and a bit dryer and air drying keeps it more defined. Thanks again for sharing!

    I know that this is an old video but I started shingling my bangs for practice. I am eventually going to do my whole head. This method works and it lasts better than a twist out. A hairstylist once told me also to diffuse my hair to set the curls.
    In the mornings, I shower with no shower cap and my curls rejuvinates with the water😊. I love being natural. Didn't know my hair could do what it does. 😊😁

I would straighten my hair and then do braids and now I just want to know if you have done the Dutch braid with your natural hair not straightened and if it's easy to do because I want to try it without having heat damage on my hair and I'm also trying to learn how to do Dutch braids on myself.

    1 thing I noticed, not hair related, and NO shade, but you may want to try the Clearasil 12 hour face wash. It really helped me out with acne. plus ur a pretty girl who doesnt need to cake on the make up any way. I hope this doesnt come off shady at all because thats not my intent but i know some overly sensitive broads may reply trying to make it out to be something it wasnt😒.
    Keep up the good work!

      Aaliyah Green I thought my hair would NEVER do this and was told by black, experienced hair dressers for over a decade that I could never have this hair. Straight rudy huxtable.. giant super long, thick z strands that twist and braid so well but with NO curl definition is what I had for years. As I got older, stopped straightening, did protective styles occasionally, and periodically trimmed off a few inches of damage, no big chop, no joke--- I all of a sudden had ringlets exactly like hers. Cut off all hair that hangs limp and lifeless, even if it has no split ends and straightens beautifully. It had become permanently straightened from heat and training. I stopped pulling my hair back tight, only loose wavy buns, loose afro puffs, and flat twist styles, and over time the roots came in BEAUTIFULLY. I get definition exactly like this but have little time. Lately I've been doing the finger coiling method while soaking wet, apply cantu products for shampoo, leave in and styling and for looser curls do chunkier sections to hold the pattern, use leave ins, low heat to seal and bam. done. I do get lazy sometimes and have frizzy but not tangled roots. Detangling is so fast and easy, but I also always sleep in a long silk scarf. I had 4c hair growing up and now it's 4a, it could be hormonal as well, but i think it's training. Twists and braids protected it so it grew crazy long, but they don't let the natural curl do their thing. Flat ironing also does nothing for a curly style. So having her hair isn't impossible. It really is just a choice.

    Your hair turned out gorgeous! What kind of pick is that , and where can I get one? I like that one better because the teeth are bigger and more spread apart, I can imagine that would create less pulling and less damage on the roots. Thanks

    Your natural hair is so gorgeous. Sometimes I wish my hair was as curly as yours! But it seems like a lot to maintain. Love it though!

    Love this! judging from the comments, it seems like aint nobody got time to do this every couples of days a week 😂
    so may i suggest the prayer hands method as a lazy alternative to achieve defined curls?! I tried it last week and got far better results than just raking the product through my hair.
    Can't wait to try this technique though!!

    OMG!! That's so much work and products... I just use shampoo and conditioner in the shower and then let it air dry. Thank god my hair is low maintenance I wouldn't have the patience for all this.

    Shingling with gel works for my 4B hair, but the excessive shrinkage drives me nuts! I wish I could put weights on the end of my hair while it's drying to get elongation!! 😂😂

      Flower Power Try banding method for elongation. Nap85 has a video on that.

    Awesome video, just what I needed to assist with my curl definition. Do you utilize a bonnet at night to maintain it, and how do you refresh it the next morning?
