Blackspot Tuskfish sighted over the side of the boat in clearer than usual water outside of the Dampier Archipelago and successfully speared in 10 metres of water.
Fish spotted at a slow 1-2 knot cruise with the electric trolling motor whilst looking over the side of the vessel. The dive gear was quickly donned back on, and sure enough, the fish was still right where we hoped it would be when I slid on in!

Monster tusky (bluebone). Was he sunbaking or sleeping ?coz you wont get an easier shot well done mate 10m too fair effort
Cheer Greg 🙂 I've personally never seen a Tusky sleeping during the day, so I assume he was just resting on the small bit of structure he was on as there were very few places around to rest or hide. Much to my luck, I was very happy that he didn't move after I spotted him and got that easy shot like I did. Great moment 😁
@@BurrupAndAway i shot a decent one at Tamala Station shark Bay in a similar fashion, just sitting there sunbaking idle in a small bit of limestone. I think the profile pic with me holding the two tuskies in my hand might be one of them, mind u it was only 2.5m not 10m depth
@1greghawk yeah awesome mate! I find the Tuskies in the Gascoyne to be bigger than the Pilbara models, and they certainly don't discriminate on depth either. If you can get them in shallow water, by all means, saves ya diving that extra depth, much easier and safer 😁🍻
