Hello Phillip, thanks for an informative presentation. I am not getting freeware in my country. How about Telesin Hybrid Nd-Pl 3s pack and can it be integrated with Gopro 9 Media Mod. I would love to get feedback from you.
Hi Phillppe thank you for all your reviews and advices to help us to get better at filming, puloting drones etc. Does these Feeewell ND can be use underwater at 5 m maximum ? Regards
Thank You Arnold! I trust PolarPro and Freewell. I’ve tried others but was not happy with the glass quality, stick to the best when you put glass in front of your lens.
I wish someone would produce filters for the Max Lens Mod. The way it stabilizes the horizon would negate the need for Hypersmooth if I'm understanding this right and then you could enjoy the benefits of the ND filters without the need for a gimbal. I'm probably going to go for the push-on Telesin hybrid filters. They're just easier and quicker to use but I can appreciate the upside of having the least amount of glass in front of the sensor. Maybe it won't turn out to be a big deal.
Hi. Did you go for the telesin ones? I've just ordered a GP Hero 10 with Max Lens mod (comes tomorrow) and had the same thought as you. I'd be interested in your experience.
@@MobilePW Not yet. I'm still undecided on the Max Lens and with the crappy weather here right now there's no real rush to capture anything. After watching various videos I decided to use a gimbal to smooth the image and mitigate the jerky low light issues some. Although I haven't tested this out yet the gimbal should allow me to turn off/down HyperSmooth altogether and improve the capture quality. Of note, if you aren't already aware, is that the recent firmware update added a SuperView 5.3K option that's closely equivalent to the Max Lens view and also to some degree addressed the jerky low light video when using HyperSmooth. In light of the new firmware I'm less inclined toward the Max Lens but I might quickly change my mind if they were to add 4K capture capability. So, for the moment, I'm just going to stick with what I have but will probably add a bite mount and the new battery eventually. I'm very satisfied with my choice of the GPH 10 and I hope you enjoy yours.
@@MobilePW Hi Paul. Thought I'd give you an update. A couple of days ago I finally got decent weather and an opportunity to experience some sun and snow on a slightly windy hilltop as I gave the H10 its first real test. Based on that experience I've decided that ND filters will be my next purchase to slow the shutter down and possibly the Media Mod to reduce wind noise. On the auto shutter setting I was getting a slight stutter if I panned too fast so I need to slow it down. And with the wind reduction on auto, I was still getting more wind noise than I wanted. I tried putting a lower quality type of fur on my previous H9 and it didn't work extremely well. I think the Media Mod will improve that while adding audio level meters and an easily accessible USB-C jack for charging and file transfer. I'm still undecided on the type and brand of ND filters. Did you ever buy any? How do like your H10?
@@markwornom1050 Hi. I purchased a Freewell ND1000 for daytime timelapse, but havent had time / conditions / suitable location to test it. Have tried two sunset timelapse without the filter, but not happy with with either. Still need to work on understanding the settings better.
@@MobilePW I haven't tried a rising or setting sun timelapse yet but as I understand it the key is to use manual exposure and set it to expose correctly for the halfway point of the duration you're capturing. Or, something like that. I'm still learning a lot myself.
Thank you for sharing! Freewell ND's are second to none. My biggest problem is that you really need to have Hypersmooth off in order to use ND's with these little sensors in bright scenes. Maybe some Hero10 tests will be a little more on the positive side but, I doubt it Thanks again. 😊👍
Great vid! So with these hybrid filters, can you "turn off" the polarization and effectively get the same ND only filter look the freewell ND only filters offer?
Hello Philip I bought the nd/pl filters from freewell and I’m loving it on first use.one simple question, do you think we need a nd filter aspect on Gopro if we keep the shutter speed auto? Does it make any difference compared to a single pl filter if you keep the shutter speed auto, I don’t want motion blur.
It'll keep the shutter down that's for sure, but for me the ND filters are mainly so I can have full control of the shutter and camera settings, I wouldn't use them with auto settings.

Cracking video, I was looking at the other filters after your last video, but will definitely be looking into these, I was looking to see if I could just get a PL in its own, are there any about? I know there was one in the other fikter kit.

@@mikhailbogatyrev1233 They're used to make your footage look more cinematic due to darkening your image, allowing you to achieve natural motion blur, this greatly affects stabilisation, as stabilisation (the digital kind) needs a lot of light to work well.

Sure! The best thing to do is use the Freewell ones and leave the iso on auto, whilst limiting it to say 100-800 iso, that's how I roll to keep the size down.
The problem with ND filters on a GoPro 9/10 is that it creates vibration on Hypersmooth when you are moving. It is only good if the GoPro is standing still on a tripod and not moving.

Does the 180 degree rule only apply to nd filters or to cpl as well? and I understand that the stabilization in go pro with the cpl filter installed does not work?
I hope I'm not too late to save your camera from disaster, but the Amazon description on the link he provided says they ARE NOT WATER RESISTANT. To establish a reliable seal in a rotating circular polarizing lens would be difficult, so I don't think I would trust it even if it told you it was waterproof...which it clearly says it isn't.
Actually, the camera is waterproof without the lens, so the lens makes absolutely no difference. The lens has a tiny rubber seal to stop it getting fogged up, that’s about it. As long as all doors on your GoPros are closed securely you can film underwater with the lens off and it will still be waterproof.
