- Riding my New RETRO MTB!!!! yesterday i got a Team Saracen 1999 / 2000 downhill Bike Setup! Today we take it to the BIKE park for a Ride! Berms & jumps do feel quite crazy, somewhere between Scary & Amazing. Im so excited to go session some freeride stuff on this Bike this up coming week! i think the future of the old school DH Rig will be amazing on DH freeride lines and features and small jumps!

Love this bike! This looks so cool! I still like those retro bikes more in terms of looks and style than modern bikes! Maybe because my best time on MTB was in the 90s :-)

Them are old school Marzocchi Bombers! love the bike I had a specialized like this shape before. You can tell by the M marking formed in the cross brace above the tyre.
Don't forget Manitou used to do this too. Marzocchi forks from that time frame used to use a really beefy leg brace,although I guess the forks could be slightly newer than the frame?
They could be junior t’s those weren’t stupidly beefy like the monsters
Absolute nostalgia trip! This is my old bike Harry! I can't believe iv saw it again! That was my first DH mtb build from a Saracen frenzy frame I got. It looks and sounds exactly how it did few years ago! 😃 That brought back memories. Miss that little gem.

LOVE IT!! I just finished a complete rebuild and paint on a 2002 Intense Tracer. Changed it to a 26/27.5 mullet.
I have one exactly like it in blue, bought as a frame, and I am building it up putting all modern parts on it including a full Sram drivetrain, DMR and raceface components and Michelin tyres.

you can tell its a marzocchi fork by the M arc on it, also that M is from 2001 models onwards, i own a marzocchi Z1 fork year 2000, they didn't have the M design yet, still rides smooth as hell, such a perfect fork... absolutely love your vids Harry

Saracen, Norco and Avanti all used variations of the same frame for a few years. My first downhill bike was an Avanti Moto Pro, followed by a 2000 Norco VPS 1 with Marzocchi Monster T'.s. I still have it hanging in the shed and was going to restore it, but the rear chainstays have cracked around the lower pivot points, and the upper crown has cracked on the Monster T's. Probably worth checking the chainstays and frame on yours for cracks too.
Can't beat a saracen, still riding them now, been riding them through the 90s, also got hit off a car on one in 2003, but still have the love for them 🤣
Did ya check the oil in the forks and check the tightness on coil bolts. Or tighten up any bolts.

Norco VPS Buzz approx 2001. Marzocchi Jr. T. Usually came with Fox Vanilla rear shock - looks to be replaced by a Stratos Helix - don't see many of those. Wheels look sketchy af - be careful.

Loving the fact you got a retro DH bike. Recently got a 1998 Giant ATX DH very similar looking frame to your Saracen. Those forks look like Marzocchi Bombers btw. Put it back to retro spec man.

the forks look like marzocchi super T, the rebound can be adjusted i think. Rebound damping on the rear shock looks like it needs cranking up haha

Cut seat post. To keep it from hitting the coil I own a pro Intense M1 2003 a Intense M6 fro 2014 or 2015. How ever they are 26 medium. Frames. Sick bikes. And I still shred them I a big fan of the old rigs. Nice to see ya sporting one. Maybe do a video on upgrade or new parts for the old rig

Harry Main yeah I got the m1 I tore it all apart and rebuilt the entire bike. The M6 I did the same just to make them my way to ride.

Loving the new bike, First get some new wheels. Mavic 321 rims on hope pro2 hubs, these are bullet proof and will last 10 years if looked after . or Halo Vapours, light but strong, and in loads of cool colors. You could put on some coil,Fox36 forks. to go single crown. or look for some original Rockshox Boxxer forks. I have both that I could sell. all these will greatly improve the bike

The forks are Marzocchis you can tell by the M shape of the lower crown

Forks are definitely Marzocchi, they look like JuniorT's. They were considered UK downhill spec at the time of release even though they are proper flexi with a quick release axle (so dual crown not triple clamp). I have them on my 2001 Orange Patriot LT and I'm currently refurbing them - or trying to.
As for the bike, Saracen were not in their prime in 2000 and their full sus in the 90s was fragile. Saracen's history was high quality, light weight stuff. They were not known for actual MTB and therefore a bit behind everyone else (Intense, Giant, Orange, GT) in the early 2000s.

@Harry Main Get a set of 99 or 2000 Manitou DH forks, an Elka shock, XTR rear mech and a set of Hayes HX8 brakes, keep it all old school. And if you can find them, some orginal Deemax wheels.
I had one of those, it was bomb proof.
