Another alternative to remove old nasty grease I’ve found to work well is pb blaster / wd40 on a rag. They are actually detergents that break down grease. Cool project!
that's for me a super bike, love how you took care of every bolt on the bike, might not be as fast as a new giant glory or specialized demo race, but older bikes are always fun with good maintentance and correct parts.
I rebuilt a 2004 specialized enduro, Bought the bike for 250.Just like you and put about $500 Into it without counting the dropper post. Ended up rebuilding or replacing pretty much every part on the bike, It Took me over 2 months because I have to keep waiting for parts. I want to put a 1500 W mid drive system on it next.
Went to Snowshoe with three friends back in 1997. We were seniors in high school. Drove all night from Windsor, Ontario. Got pulled over in Ohio - state trooper let us off with a warning. We were all on hardtail XC bikes. Me on a Norco Torrent. Snowshoe wasn’t as developed or as popular as it is now. We pretty much had the place to ourselves. They had ProFlex bikes for rent - I ended up buying a ProFlex 757 frame when I got back to Canada.
A much different time. Things have come a long way. I saw a guy on an on rigid, 90s Stumpjumer when I was there. I can't see myself bombing down that mountain with rim brakes. lol. We're spoiled with all the new tech.
Haha those original bearing races look identical to some ones I've pulled out of resto 70s and 80s Schwinns! 😮That was a fun build! Looks great. Sidenote: You and I have almost identical resto approaches, even down to the Flitz and Bel Ray grease
@@AdrenalineIsLife they are not inferiour to a pure Magura setup thats for sure. I took XT levers ,sold my Magura MT5 levers on ebay and came out allmost even . I would change my MT7 levers too but my wife gifted me some self designed and custom made covers for them, so its a no go to change them.
@@AdrenalineIsLife the old Matha SL brakes had such awesome grips.. these plastic ones are a shame in my oppinion but I guess Magura went full kapitalistic. They still work but they are fragile as hell, so changing them was a no brainer and the full metall ShimanoXT levers gave me reach adjustment too 🙂
Doing the same thing with an old Intense M3. Although I bought a frame and building it up, forks are proving very expensive. Build will take longer. Hope mine turns out as good as yours. Wanted one when they came out 2004 and 20 years later finally get to build an M3
My two downhill bikes are intense brand a M1 04 edition and a M6. Both are 26 inch wheels. Love em. It’s the bread n butter of downhill. But is downhill mtb bikes in the past like 26 inch wheels ? I’d downhill fading out since all the e-bikes. ….it changed the whole bike scene. Along with all the 29rs Where is mtb going in 2024?
Those cranks came out fantastic. Nice job!
Thanks!

"Solvents", not detergents.
I love your videos man! I watched this one around 20 times already! I want to overhaul my dad's old Kona Downhill bike now!
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying the vids 😁 Bike restorations are fun. You should definitely consider it.

Agreed. They are more for fun factor these days. It's such a fun bike to ride!
Wish i had a bike like that
Nicely done sir!
Thank you!..and thanks for telling me about this bike?🙏
ur acc needs some more recognition man! keep it up!
Thank you!
Is that a big crack inside the headtube @ 5:26?!?
I was wondering if someone would notice that. No, it's just a black stain that wouldn't come clean.
I was looking for this comment xD Like wtf is that
dude i love watching these vids seeing like the before and after, Keep it up man :)
Thanks! 😁 Glad you enjoyed it. I'm planning more of these in the future.
Классное видео, поздравляю с велосипедом 👍

Those are my favorite types of projects. The mid drive motor idea sounds pretty interesting.

Beautiful restoration, these vintage DH bikes are really worth saving in my opinion. Take care Blessings from a Brit in Berlin. 👌
Thank you. Have a great day!
Really enjoyed the build!
Great video, keep going. I started my channel from scratch uploading what I enjoyed, and now I just hit 10k subs.
Thanks! Congrats on 10k! 🎊
Love a cheap but rad build
@@chrisball8178 This is one of my favorites.

Haha. We have an old school approach.😀 Glad you enjoyed the video!
Wow ordering those rubber protectors from the UK... I would have used an old inner tube lol
Haha. Yeah, I thought about it, but this looks a lot better.
Dzięki za swietny film
Szacunek za prace i
I switched to Shimano levers on my MT5 .. I heard those are called Shigura's or Magmano's they work like a charm
@evemaniac I haven't tried it yet, but lots of people seem to rave about them.

I still ride 26 inch on my 2012 bike still runs like new

Those old Instense M bikes were awesome. I hope you find a decent fork to put on it. Prices have been ridiculous. Good luck with your build!
This looks awesome,i alwasy wanted to ride a downhill bike but i dont think using it in the city too will be good, plus these bikes are very expensive!
Cool bikes but a nightmare to ride on anything that's not steep downhill.

I hope downhill keeps going. It's so much fun. Luckily UCI World Cup downhill is still going strong. Let's hope downhill stays forever.
@@AdrenalineIsLife yup I hope it stays. The way bikes are being made downhill bikes are not sold much anymore.
Where is that trail
That's Snowshoe Bike Park
"250dollar bike" fake info
I think real
Putting that head set in and the logo's are out of line... Just an OCD thing...
Yeah. I had a whole segment about it that I cut for time. 99% of the time, I'm installing a zero stack cup. I wasn't paying attention. 😕
FSA isnt even old school, i used to ride FSA open headsets on my first and second bmx bike like 12 years ago
its an old FSA headset.
soo…you don’t know how to adjust chain guide?
spend 100$ on chemicals
