- Today I can present to YOU a short DRIVE & SOUND with the legendary Volkswagen Golf 1 GTI, one of the founders of the class of "hot hatches". This car has a 1.8 liter R4 engine delivering 112 hp and around 140 Nm of torque. As you can imagine, this was an amazing opportunity to drive such an exclusive car in this mint condition. Therefore we treated the car well and kept an eye on engine and transmission:)

@@dragonballtorture because it engaged you to push the car. To feel for it's limits. You can feel the tires breaking traction and the suspension fighting the bumps. Hear the sound of your cylinders screaming to 7k rpm. It's not about just driving with these cars. It's about the sensation of everything coming together so perfectly to create a car that isn't just a car but more an extension of yourself and your inputs.
@@rabbidpotatoegaming4514 Relax, he was just joking at the OPs imperfect English. "Feeling the mechanic" means something different from "feeling the mechanicals", or "the mechanical feeling of the car". I don't think anyone is questioning why a driver might want to feel a mechanical connection with the car. Just not sure they want to grope Joe the grease monkey.

Ich liebe die alten Golfs. Noch schön mechanisch und nichts drinnen was man nicht braucht. Einfach ein ehrliches Auto mit soviel Charme und total ausreichender Power, es macht Spaß sowas zu fahren.
Das typische GTI feeling ist bis heute geblieben... 😍

No, seriously, a wonderful car. I'd be perfectly happy with one of these. Hell, I remember driving around in a 20-year old non-GTI Mk.1 when I was a teenager, and I never noticed that it was particularly lacking in speed. There are much more important things than brute acceleration and top speed. A skilled driver in a "slow" car car do more than an uncertain or badly-trained driver in a 600hp rocketship, especially when driving on normal highways and back roads. That's where this kind of car shines, even if you won't win outright victories on race tracks. Much fun.

Its an 1.6 Gti with 110 HP. Look at the cylinderhead ;)
der 1.8er kam ja auch erst in 1982, beim 83er Modell. Dieser hier ist definitiv ein 1.6er.

When i was born on on christmas night to 25. december, my dads Golf 1 Pirell Gti was stolen at the hospital. I bet that was the greatest present ever for him..Luckily it was found one day later by the police. That car ran with sharp camshafts around 235 kmh. Just for example the Golf 5 Gti is registered in the vehicle registration with also 235 kmh! with 200 turbo ps!

😍 hatte auch einen Golf I , keinen GTI aber die seitlichen Streifen habe ich mir aufgeklebt. Heckklappe mattschwarz abgesetzt (lackiert) und vorne die Chromleisten rot lackiert 😂😂😇🤔

I started searching for a mk1 in 2014. In 2016 finally found one and had to buy it! Now 2018, abf swap. Lowered, ronal turbos, respray. Got to keep em alive! (For pics @nodaut.mk1 instagram)

It's just not a GTi without the distinctive fog lamps, GTi logo steering wheel and Pirelli wheels. Using those poverty rims on this classic GTi is criminal!
