Hell yeah, love the VW classics! Stock pads & old (DOT 4 or even 3) fluid overheat was predictable; and motor overheat (due to turbocharging) as well; but until that it handled itself pretty well. We must of course also realize that this is no dedicated track build.
I had a Mk1 Jetta GLI that I had a 2L turbo setup in. It was only around 200hp at the wheels but it was an absolute pleasure to scoot around in. I had big Neuspeed anti-roll bars and just a decent set of sport shocks and springs. With good tires, it was so fun.
it is so respectable to see someone face their fears and still stay relatively collected and funny. I think everyone can reach their limit at the Ring and Misha makes for an excellent guide there! amazing videos love the channel

8:00 how much horsepower do these Rent4ring 1er have (thought these are 125i with like 220hp) ?? Misha in an 260hp lightweight car full accelerating and this thing pulls away like crazy 🤔

these 1.8t 20v engines (ive had one) do not have good oil coolers, so the oil gets hot really fast and it cuts the power... just put better oil cooler and u good :)
The passenger's face was priceless. The amount of times he wanted to say the F word 😂. I think I speak on behalf of everyone here when I say that Misha is a weapon, he just jumped in that thing for the first time and quickly got to grips with it. Was so fun to watch. Was smiling the whole time. More stuff with these guys please.

Based on many cars that Misha driven, I think a lot of them would benefits from better radiator, better cooling fans, add oil cooler if not have one, and better brakes (brake line, caliper, pad, disc). But damn, Misha have the skill to just push a vehicle to speed that most owner never experienced before, that's just pure talent, IMO. EDIT: Also need good set of suspension & tires.
I drove a Mk 1 (known as Rabbit GTI in the US) in 1978. It belonged to a high school friend, and it was a lot faster than anyone expected, so we won a lot of drag races. It was about as fun to drive as any car I had driven up to that time. Easy to drive fast.

Our car was losing power due to heatsoak, I guess that is something for starters.
