@@LordReginaldMeowmont From what i've read so far they will lack in the damage department as much as regular casters. They follow the same caster progression and seem to be AoE and control oriented just as casters. But I want some more information from someone who actually read through the entire thing.
I heard they have a magic item that let's them add +1/2/3 to their attack rolls with their impulses but not to their DCs. So they should at least hit more often then casters.
There is something confusing. You stated a "normal" turn is channel elements + blast + impulse. Everywhere I read you can just have your aura up at all times. This gives way more flexibility. Just want to clarify in case someone gets confused. This means you can start with your overflow spell.
yeah, I miss Aether as element, too. Especially, since my last pf1 group is now switching to pf2 and the character I play in that group is an Aerokineticist with aether as his second element. Gonna have to give him Psychic dedication with distant grasp to make him similar, I guess.
You made mistakes with Elemental Blast: 1. It can be ranged or melee attacks. Melee attacks add STR. 2. That is maximum range like spells, _not_ a range increment. The "make the blast look like weapons" thing gives them range increments.
Wait, I thought that Rage if the Elements was gonna have a new Awakened Animal Ancestry. 🤔 Where did I hear this? In any case I'm sure my players will want to know if the kineticist once it comes out.
I was surprised this was coming out so close to the new remastered rule books. I guess I incorrectly understood all the books to be combined into the new books
In reality there’s only one con(assuming he doesn’t know the 6 elements is Chinese culture inspired) so this is easily a must buy. Sure martials are a little starved but we got a whole class in compensation and it’s epic so it’s forgivable
Back in 1e a kineticist who "double dipped" could access wood, lava, metal, and....blood. So if wood and metal are moved to being their own full elements now then the missing seventh "flesh" element would logically be Blood.
One of the Cons should be that this book was edited to use the language of the remastered books that aren't released yet! It might seem like minor changes but the language is jarring. This should have been the last classic PF2 book - not the first remastered one.
I also have this concern, though I'm not worrying too much yet. Granted I'm relatively new to 2e, but with the Remastered books coming soon and Paizo (I believe) saying books like Rage of Elements are made with those rules in mind, im thinking this book previews the new level for the game and I'm ok with that assuming the other classes, monsters, etc adjust as well.
Nonat definitely likes to play up the power of some stuff. Its definitely the strongest blaster caster, but its worth noting he talked about thaumaturge much the same way when it was revealed and while its very solid, its defo not broken
The Rules Lawyer had a pretty good take. Kineticists don't hit as hard in melee as martials, or burst as high as casters in spells. Instead, they have a group of abilities that give them flexibility between the two extremes. Power-wise, they are near Inventors and swashbucklers.
@@CooperSummersVA I love Nonat's content and say this as a big fan of his channel, but you know...I wondered if he sometimes overexaggerated power level of things. I still pretty new so it's nice to know more experienced players think the same, because I don't have much experience to go from.
The kineticist can't break the top end; even the most narrowly single target focused kineticist does less single target damage than a Fighter. This is fine, because that Kineticist's access to AOE and weakness targeting is way better than the Fighter's even with all that investment in single target damage.
I'm going to assume that Holy and Unholy will not actually be that useful. Also find it odd that the rule is referenced in a Book that doesn't even explain what Sanctification is and how to do it. I still do not like the Metal Geniekin being called Talos. That was a Greek Machine, not a being of Metal. Everything else is interesting, but I do not think Sanctification needed to be in this book. Not like they're going to leave it up to Players which Deities Sanctify as Holy or Unholy. I'm more interested in if there are creatures with a Metal Elemental weakness than something with an Unholy weakness. Wouldn't be able to tell what had the latter anyway.
This book is meant to be usable with remastered books holy and unholy will assist clerics that wish to be deities of the elemental gods. (And probably champions too later down the line). I would be annoyed if this information was missing
