    Our first week is a full week this year as well, and I’m not looking forward to that part of it! I feel like three days is perfect and I’m always exhausted after all the talking and monitoring required to teach procedures those first days. So glad to see you’re a Leader in Me school! We just started this journey so I love hearing your experience.

      We're starting our 6th year with the Leader in Me and it's still going well! Things get easier each year you do it!

    I found a book called " A Bug and a Wish" by Karen Scheuer. I use it to help the students use respectful language to express their concerns and opinions with their peers. Ex. "It BUGS me when you call me 'Turtle'. I WISH you would call me by my name, Taylor."

      Oh so cute! I'll have to look for that book. I love books that help with things like that!

    Hi! Not sure if you will see this! I was wondering if you have the 7 habits plan and worksheet available anywhere? I’m not a leader in me school but I would love to implement the habits in my classroom.

      I have the coloring pages available, but all of the plans are part of the curriculum that my school pays for so I don't have anything to share. Here's the link to the coloring pages: www.classroomdoodles.com/habits-of-happy-kids.html

    The past few years (since 2020), my district has had a 4-5 day first week of school, and no one likes it. When I taught first grade, a couple of students fell asleep an hour before the end of that Friday's dismissal 😂 I understand it's probably to even out the days between semesters and for public image, but NO ONE benefits from it. I'm with you - I prefer 2-3 days!

      Yeah, it's hard for everyone but especially the younger grades!

      Missouri teacher here - we also started doing full weeks back to school a couple of years ago. They made it a rule that we can't start any sooner than 2 weeks before Labor Day (to not conflict with MO tourism, I suppose).. but in order to not go into June we started starting school on Mon instead of like a Wed or Thurs. Such a longggg week!

    I have to ask! Do you have students who are familiar with your Reading Rainbow quote? I know you were hoping there would be some.

      I haven't had anyone notice yet! But lots of teachers get it stuck in their head when they stop by! LOL!

    I have a side question. I’m moving back to the classroom after many years of being a reading specialist. My new 4th grade classroom will not come with an easel. I’ve never taught upper elementary and wondering if I need one. If not what do you do to make anchor charts? Thanks!

    • @msrachelvincent
      @msrachelvincent  Рік тому +1

      I don't use an easel because I teach mostly from slides on my interactive board. Typically I only create 1-2 anchor charts a week because our concepts last several days. So I just use a magnet to hold up the chart paper and create it on the board.
