Hi Ali, When I turned 30 I changed my life completely. I quit my job, move in another country, study a master and start a completely new career. There is almost nothing left from my own self from 10 years ago and my life from 30-40 has been substantially better, more exciting, happier and interesting than the one in my 20s. Happy birthday and welcome to Life!
As a 29year old mother of four (all under 6) I absolutely 100% agree with Nir! My kids are my absolute joy and love! BUT you also have to raise them in a way where you want to spend time with them. 1. No iPad kids 2. Learn a notional regulation myself to teach them and work with them through their tantrums and problems 3. Respect them like tiny adults 4. Don’t get them everything you can and they want to have. Adversity in their life is good. 5. Don’t solve their problems for them, solve it with them.
Hello Ali, Happy Birthday, I’m 36 now and still confused about many things. As an Asian, we might be a group of late bloomers who only realize what we want to do later in life. At least, this seems true for my generation, those born in the 80s. So, I’m taking these life advices as ‘What I can do before my 40th birthday,’ and let’s see where it leads me. Thank you, Ali.
Regarding kids, I had my daughter at 18. How's that for early? Lol! And thank God I did. Yes, circumstances were very difficult, but she is my blessing, my world, my miracle. And now my life is all the more better for having her in it. ❤😊
As a 29 year old, Father of a 1 year old, my son is the best thing thats ever happened to me. Love you're content Ali, and have taken alot advice off you over the years
just at the beginning but already pumped at how you said you're looking for advice from people who have a healthy work-life balance. your channel always helps me feel confident that I can work hard and still remember that my work is subordinate to my family and friends - that I don't have to choose between being a good friend but lazy at work or being a bad friend but good at work. thanks so much for sharing!
Happy Birthday! Having a mentor is something really amazing and we are also thankful for ours, you is one of them. We also started a channel to educate others and share knowledge.
I have two kids and I wish I had more. A friend once told me that you might regret not having more, but you will never regret having the ones you have.
I don't know why people wishing more kids... I have 3 elder siblings and I little one.. My age is 30...my parents ruined my life.. With wrong decision.. And so much partiality btw others siblings... So much boundaries and controlling my life.. Like a hell.. I am 30 but no marriage plan... So please parents take responsibility ..

I just turned 30. And sometimes I regret that I wasted my 20s, and didn't achieve what I wanted to achieve. But I guess I am not getting younger. So for anyone who also turned 30 ish, let's keep pushing forward!
Congrats Ali! Geting married and having kids (which I didn't even imagine having in my 20s) was the best decision/project of my 30s, and I am pretty sure it will be the best of my life. And yes, have as many as you can support. But fair warning: expect your productivity to take a nosedive! I will look forward to your next book: 'Feel-Good Productivity With Children - Update.'
thank you for creating such an uplifting, happy happy place for us, Ali, in this corner of the internet. i absolutely absolutely adore it. can't be more grateful for it. A veryyyy happy belated happy birthday to you, my man. may god bless you with enormous health, happiness, purpose and fulfillment. muchh love.
About kids - I've got one, and it's amazing! Life's so much more fun now. My daughter brings everyone closer. It's not just about me anymore, but about us as a family. I'm excited for when you have kids too! I wonder how you'll change your productivity system then. It'll be a great adventure! Thanks for sharing your life with us. Happy birthday, Ali! Hope it's a good one!
Happy bday Ali!! I turned 30 in March, this is great advice. I feel like one of the biggest things is to do the things that are important to you now if you’re able, especially with family. I have a close family member who is 35 and was just diagnosed with stage 3 rare appendix cancer. Live life fully and with authenticity!!
I used to think that people who said having kids is the best thing in life were exaggerating. I thought they were just trying to justify the limitations that parenthood imposes on their personal pursuits. However, I now realize that having children is an unparalleled experience. Witnessing the growth and development of a child is one of the most beautiful aspects of life, despite the significant challenges it presents. These difficulties make the joyful moments even more rewarding. Yes, having kids will inevitably limit some of your personal freedoms, but ultimately, what is the purpose of life if not to share it with family and friends? In the end, the legacy you leave behind matters most, and raising children is one of the most profound ways to achieve that. However, it's crucial to have a strong relationship with your partner before starting a family, as parenthood will test your relationship in ways you can't imagine.
Dear Ali, Happy Birthday! 🎁 24 years ago I was at your age. I wish I had the digital possibilities of today when I was 30. My advice to you is to be happy with yourself and be careful not to become addicted to “self-improvement.”
Happy 30th Birthday Ali! 🎉Thank you for your work and for showing that at the end of the day: we are all humans. We all inherently seek advice, guidance, and inner self-actualization (even successful UA-camrs, coaches, writers, etc.)
Ali I have to say I am so shocked you didn't cry(happy tears ofcourse) being 30 isn't getting old it's a new milestone in life, and its huge. Happy birthday!
I never felt ready to have kids but always felt the pressure from society especially in my culture. So here iam holding a newborn in my arms and its the best feeling in the world. I never knew i was missing so much happiness, joy and love in my life. Couldn't agree more with Nir Eyal.
Hey Ali, happy birthday to you. Have been following you since the beginning of your UA-cam journey. I am 30 too, and I have a one year old son, he's the best thing that has ever happened to me. Being a mother gave me immense power and happiness. Good luck for the years ahead.
I have two kids, and for us personally this struck the right balance as a family. It’s amazing when they’re young and tiny, but I love that our girls are getting older and we get to enjoy that without having to keep restarting and changing how our lives work.
I got married at twenty and we had 5 kids in 5.5 years (twins are so fun) and it was crazy and chaotic, but so much fun. We have 5 teens now and we laugh so much. By the time my kids are all 18 I'll be 45. It was the best "bad decision" we made. My husband and I are making plans to enjoy our next 20 years of being happily married. We started young and broke and built a beautiful life together.
I had three children. I DO wish I had more NOW that they are grown but at the time 3 were overwhelming (time wise, we homeschooled them) I know some parents who had more than they were able to nurture. Relationships take time. Thank you for your work. You always make me think.
I'm a first time dad, have a 9 MO baby girl. I have never been happier and overworked at the same time. She's my stress buster. Utterly and truly grateful. I never really understood what is coolness of ones eyes until I had a kid. Definitely looking forward to more kids, God willing!
Happy Birthday Ali! Spent half of the year immersing myself in watching your videos as I was overwhelmed to do so last year. It feels like it has been one of the most influencial decisions I've ever made. I'm grateful to have you in my life 🎉❤
I have one kiddo who is soon to be 15, and I absolutely wish I had more when I was younger, but a female at 35, I feel my biological clock ticking away. I wouldn't trade anything with the joy of being a mother!! Happy birthday, Ali!!
Hi Ali! i absolutely love all the advice that you got! Everyone was really genuine towards you and overall everything is extremly inspiring , mind opening . I wish you an amazing late birthday!! As a 22 year old, i m looking forward to such a wonderful era as your 30 with such a peace of mind and self work.
Ali, the recorded advice with the actionable points were very good. I think this could be my favorite video you've ever done, easily digestible and practical 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
not popular opinion - 39 years, kids (7 and 5,5) and i had kids because my hubby wanted to have kids. i never grow into loving to having kids, so my advice here is - have kids only if you really are into it. some of us never grow into kids. even when i had them earlier, i never was "mother" type. dont get me wrong, i play with them, spend time, they have a good life, but it is not that "feeling" a parent has to have with kids when that makes sence.
I have 2 kids but had my first at 25 and I love my children absolutely so much and don't regret having them but I do wish I had my first later! I wasn't able to achieve as much as I wanted to because as the default parent, I had to put some of my dreams on hold! Also mentally I was not ready and I was not emotionally mature enough as I had come out of a terrible relationship just a couple of months before meeting my Baby Daddy (now husband!) so I had PPD and it was very lonely! So IF YOU WANT KIDS (which is also something you need to be very honest to yourself about because it's not easy!) then I would suggest just making sure you are in a good mental and emotional space. Sleep deprivation and bodily changes and insane hormones can really affect you (fathers: take note as your partner will need support in that regard!)
Mega useful - even for someone not even close to 30, the raw advice for everyone if you read between the lines is actually so interlinked and colossal - I always forget how much every piece of advice links and flows. Cheers man, highly useful!
I do like this episode because of the questions you pose to your self base from your friend's advise is not just applicable for those in their 30s but for those older and continuously aging...
It feels so amazing these personal and touching kind of video, i hope to see you in the era of kids, marriage and all of those beautiful and also productive things in life...
I'm 34 and omg....... I was so excited and positive at my 30th birthday. I had so many exciting plans. Then, Mum was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away at 58 (I wish I'd travelled with her more omg, it breaks my heart ), My grandfather was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, passed away. I had anxiety about covid so bad, because I was scared to give it to both of them, as I was their primary carer and we were all living in the same house. My horse then passed away in a freak accident. Keep in mind I'm an only child with no Dad. My fiance of four years and myself broke up. Oh an I was served a pain in the ass legal drama FML. I now live in a house alone with two dogs. All of this taught me that great friends are so important and should be cherished and loved like family. Dogs are the best. And when you are in a vulnerable position you will tolerate behaviour, you otherwise would not. Seriously, hang out with your parents as much as you can because when they go, it's so sad! Go on holidays with your loved ones. You can't control everything, life simply doesn't allow it. Anxiety has become my norm and I've had to make friends with it, understand it, and co exist with it as peacefully as possible.
after all this i know you will come through. i could feel your pain as i could resonate with it but i still wasnt in your shoes. i hope you find the strength to keep going!!
A happy birthday Ali. I am proud mom of four and I would advise that one ought to have as many children as they wish and can take care of. And that as early as possible yes. You are an inspiration°°
Whenever a friend tells me that they are having a birthday, I always say that their age is the best age but the following year will be better. I liked the idea of writing a letter to myself for when I turn 50yo (in 3.5 years). When I turned 30, I wish someone had told me: 1) to start investing money 2) to believe in my crazy ideas and projects; I had great business or scientific ideas which I abandoned because other people told me that they would not work... and became big things years later (I guess you are already doing well on this side) Live long and silly!
I have one kid and I wish I had him sooner and I want more. It is not easy, but it is sooo great to have a family ❤️ I wish you to experience this as soon as possible ☺️👏
You said that there are many people on the Internet who treat and face themselves sincerely like Ali. Compared with those who are very popular on the Internet, Xiaoxiao Dean, Old Tomato, Chinese boy, these very popular people, the most important thing is the quality of Ali. Ali's sincere personality really showed me a light on the Internet. I think this is the most precious quality of this era.😊
I have one son and I wish I had the resources to have all least 3 right now. Its hard to have your first kid, everything in your life changes quickly and even if you prepare for it, the changes will surprise you. But it is 100% worth it. They become the center of your life in the most amazing and fulfilling way. And no you won’t be less productive with kids. You’ll actually become a lot more savvy at using the 24h you get in one day.
About kids.. Ali, I think a great potential podcast guest could be Merle Bombarderi, who is currently writing her third edition of The Baby Decision. The book helps people like me - who are on the fence about having a child - figure out what I’d want from like and whether a child could fit into that. It also delves into the myths of parenting and being childfree.
Wishing you health, happiness and love, and may your new adventures continue to excite you throughout the year. May each day be filled with excitement for the next destination, the next unwrapped gift, and in anticipation of the thousands of wonderful wishes from your fans.
This is amazing timing; I turn 30 in two weeks and I really needed this reminder. Thank you so much for all that you do and the wisdom you share with us!
It is always very calming for me to watch your video, I alway look for inspiration whenever I feel down and here I am, and I am already 52 😄 but thanks!
Happy birthday Ali! This video is such a greater reminder ! On the topic of kids, its not a must for everyone. I personally didnt want a kid but gradually changed my mind because of my partner. I have a 2 yo and seeing him smile, laugh, grow and develop is such a great blessing. Also, it allows you to prioritize whats truly important in your life which is relationships/ family and your health. Thanks again for creating such amazing videos and being such a blessing. Happy bdae again! ❤
I loved this video, thanks for sharing such personal advice for everyone to benefit from. Perhaps a part 2 next year with the individuals that may have been left off this year :). Regarding children, I am in my early 30s and have recently had a baby. I have always been apprehensive as I have a busy senior role in the NHS however, it has been a real blessing to have a little boy and has made me view work life balance in a healthier way. In addition changed the way I view things in general ❤
We started having kids at 19 and now we have 6 children. No regrets, even though it wasn't the easiest being that young and starting out. Definitely agree with the advice have kids now and as many as you can!
28 Father, 4 under 4. I couldn't agree more about having kids with the RIGHT person. When you have the right person, having kids is a new level to life and each additional baby makes the love in the household more so.
I have 5 kids. I only met my husband at 31. So I did what your friend said. I didn’t wait we just went for it! My kids are close in age it was exhausting but now it’s great. My oldest is 14 and my youngest is 5
Many More Happy Returns of theDay. Few Kids as per our money and time. Raising kids are different in different landscape. Marriage and having kids before 30 is import i think. I'm from 40, just reached this year. World is different in 40's, as i'm from private sector thinks are different now :) . Luckily i have started saving from end of 20's so i have some backup :) . i gives me lots of confidents
I wish someone told me, I was OK, I'm going to be OK and it is going to be OK 😅 30 - I Think is the start of mid life crisis where we panic and feel like we need to be more in order to conquer life... when really, we just need to see the good things that we currently have and be OK with it... we don't always need to have more or extra... Contentment is hard at this age...
I second Nir, have as many and as early as possible. They are not just joy but true blessing. I have only one and had her when I was 38. Wish I had 4 kids
Hi Ali ! Happy 30 stay blessed and happy . This video of yours is probably my most fav. Listening to your personal experiences is always a treat , it feels so relatable as im a junior doctor currently working in Pakistan who has recently discovered her new interests in other areas of life. It will be so nice if you can make a video like this for people navigating through their mid twenties , Thanks :)
HBD Ali! It was a very nice video idea. I know you like feedbacks, here is mine: I really like that you share with us a lot of content, but I like more when you are not following the typical Ali Abdaal videoscript. I think you can film anywhere use no effects, and you will still be Ali Abdaal guy who we follow for his journey. We like you for your genuinity. So keep up the good content.
Really good and insane selection of people here giving Ali advice, I've seen posts, content these people have produced over the years. Chockfull of value here
I'm a parent. Currently trying for more. I'm in my early 40s. I went through fertility treatments and it is a definite minset shift. You have to really be open and honest with yourself. You may find out things that you don't like or things you can do little about; some things you can. You have to really think about how you want your family to look. It may not happen the way you always imagined it happening and you have to grieve that loss, because it is a loss.
Sahil Bloom and Daniel Partaker offered the best advice in my opinion. Don't make decisions you cannot get 5X-10X ROI on and double down on the 20%!!💯🔥🙌😍 Thank you for sharing Ali and I wish you the Happiest of Birthdays!!!🎂🎁🎉🥳 Also that line by J. Lennon was so cold! ~ "Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans." 💯❤😎👌
I have two and we had our first at age 35, I wish we’d started sooner so that we had longer to think about a third. Realistically, the leap from 2 to 3 is a lot (in terms of everyday logistics!), but with longer to think it would be easier! The two we have are pretty bloody brilliant, either way!
Looking forward to seeing Ali scheduling a really productive holiday... You know, like following the path written in the book Angeles and Demons while touring Rome..

on the kids topic, i feel like many people realise things or feelings too late. not that there is a timeline for it but if u love someone, if u genuinely are in a great relationship and want marriage and kids in the future, go ahead and go ahead NOW. u don't know how things will be later, but u know how things are NOW. there is a great quote in movie called the age of Adaline " I mean a future together, growing old together. Without that, love is, uh... it's just heartbreak." so go ahead, figure out things together, love and fight and love but go ahead.
youre only 30? I thought you were a fe years older haha. fellow 94 baby. I envy your processes a lot in a good way.. the last 2 or so weeks ive been watching and rewatching your stuff along with others to become more productive and be better with my emotions, going well so far.
Hi !! Ali ...wish you a very happy 3rd decade you are entering in 🎉....I enjoyed your video thoroughly even though I'm in my 50s ( work and a meaningful life led so far I feel like a 30s person )
Turned 30 this year, have 2 kids [one is 2 and a half and the other is 2 months old]. Definitely have more kids. Nothing brings more joy than being with them.
I am a single mother, I had my daughter at 20. I'd say that I regret not waiting because I was with the wrong person, but I'm also glad because by the time she's an adult I will still have the energy to do things. So there's positives and negatives to having kids later in life.
33 with 3 kids. We wanted a young family. Raising kids is both the hardest but most rewarding thing I've experienced. It's humbling and a strange feeling having something more important than yourself/own life. B/C it is so hard I would caution jumping into parenthood unless it's something you 100% want.

not popular opinion - 39 years, kids (7 and 5,5) and i had kids because my hubby wanted to have kids. i never grow into loving to having kids, so my advice here is - have kids only if you really are into it. some of us never grow into kids. even when i had them earlier, i never was "mother" type. dont get me wrong, i play with them, spend time, they have a good life, but it is not that "feeling" a parent has to have with kids when that makes sence.
I’m 29, two children under 2, not easy to say the least, but it’s the best decision ever. When you see the smile on their face it’s all worth it 😊
It feels so amazing these personal and touching kind of video, i hope to see you in the era of kids, marriage and all of those beautiful and also productive things in life...
You.are so incredibly strong. Really pushing prayers your way and we all know that life will get easier soon

Hbd! Can't believe we have the same birthday Ali! Thanks for the life advice!
When I turned 30, I wish someone had told me:
1) to start investing money
2) to believe in my crazy ideas and projects; I had great business or scientific ideas which I abandoned because other people told me that they would not work... and became big things years later (I guess you are already doing well on this side)
Live long and silly!
I have one kid and I wish I had him sooner and I want more. It is not easy, but it is sooo great to have a family ❤️ I wish you to experience this as soon as possible ☺️👏
Eric and Noah! 30s you accept yourself that allow you to put in those consistent efforts. I turned 40 last year and everything is paying off
You said that there are many people on the Internet who treat and face themselves sincerely like Ali.
So stoked to hear Dr. Glover's work mentioned. No More Mr. Nice Guy is a life changing read.
Absolutely love Mark manson
I have 4 kids (which is way more than most people would recommend) and it’s the best decision I have ever made. ❤❤❤❤
Happy birthday!! Your life and drive inspires us. Keep showing us the way forward 🎉🎉🎉
yes yes!!
I wish someone told me, I was OK, I'm going to be OK and it is going to be OK 😅
30 - I Think is the start of mid life crisis where we panic and feel like we need to be more in order to conquer life...
when really, we just need to see the good things that we currently have and be OK with it... we don't always need to have more or extra...
Contentment is hard at this age...
I second Nir, have as many and as early as possible. They are not just joy but true blessing. I have only one and had her when I was 38. Wish I had 4 kids
So refreshing to hear you say you'd play more video games... makes me feel a tiny bit better about my unproductive lifestyle. Happy Birthday!
Hi Ali ! Happy 30 stay blessed and happy . This video of yours
is probably my most fav.
Chockfull of value here
So many golden nuggets. Really liked what Sahil had to say. Solid vid.
Happy belated birthday, Ali! So blessed to learn many great advices in one video clip. 😇
I'm suffering. I get demotivated with years of trying for a baby and treatments. I wish I can be a mother some day
@@gs5710 good luck and baby dust! I really hope it works out for you. ❤️
Sahil Bloom and Daniel Partaker offered the best advice in my opinion.
Don't make decisions you cannot get 5X-10X ROI on and double down on the 20%!!💯🔥🙌😍
Thank you for sharing Ali and I wish you the Happiest of Birthdays!!!🎂🎁🎉🥳
Also that line by J.
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
Happy 30th Birthday!

I love so much this reflections videos so much :D thank you for always sharing such a quality video again Ali!
on the kids topic, i feel like many people realise things or feelings too late. not that there is a timeline for it but if u love someone, if u genuinely are in a great relationship and want marriage and kids in the future, go ahead and go ahead NOW. u don't know how things will be later, but u know how things are NOW. there is a great quote in movie called the age of Adaline " I mean a future together, growing old together. Without that, love is, uh... it's just heartbreak." so go ahead, figure out things together, love and fight and love but go ahead.
For those lucky enough to have kids, nothing is more rewarding. Like anything rewarding, the reward is equal to your input. Great video!
youre only 30? I thought you were a fe years older haha. fellow 94 baby. I envy your processes a lot in a good way.. the last 2 or so weeks ive been watching and rewatching your stuff along with others to become more productive and be better with my emotions, going well so far.
ahh. that's so cute.
you have changed my life with this video, thanks.
I Am going to use some of this amazing advice... I much await a more exciting video(Desk Setup & Tech backpack Video)!!!
Loved them all. But I connected with how the advices of Noah and Sahil was presented. But how Ali interpreted all the advice was the best 🧩✨💖
Hi !! Ali ...wish you a very happy 3rd decade you are entering in 🎉....I enjoyed your video thoroughly even though I'm in my 50s ( work and a meaningful life led so far I feel like a 30s person )
Happy birthday Ali, wishing you fruitful months and happiness every year of your life.
Turned 30 this year, have 2 kids [one is 2 and a half and the other is 2 months old]. Definitely have more kids. Nothing brings more joy than being with them.

Woah Amazing! I'm turning 30 in September 😱 This was a much needed video!
Thank you sooooo much man.!!!
You keep changing my life.
Happy Birthday! , So much to learn. I'll be 29 this August and I'm happy I watched this video.
Happy birthday Ali and waiting for the Sunday surprise.
Happy Birthday Ali !! Hope you have a great year and life ahead!
🥳🥳
ugh this was a good one! thanks team ali + ali's mentors:)
Happy birthday Ali abdaal you're channel has really changed me alot
