Imagine being a landlord and you learn one of your tenants hasn’t been paying rent. So you go down to the room, and they tell you “come back tomorrow.” You do so, and when you arrive, you walk into an extravagantly decorated room (which should indicate to you that they’re perfectly capable of paying rent), and before you can talk to them they give you a list of code of conduct they expect while you’re in their room and tell you that they’ll only talk with you if you play a Monopoly with them, in which they cheat at the game. Then when you leave, you not only didn’t get the rent money, but you’re not even certain you own the room that’s in your building. That’s pretty much what happened here.
Welcome to the World of Darkness! Culturally, a kindred is complete master of their haven. So even if a baron, prince, or the "owner" of a domain visits another kindred's haven, they generally defer to the haven owner's whims. There's also a political game going on here: you only owe rent if you're forced to pay it. Most kindred are made to pay through threats of violence, but if you can successfully convince your "landlord" that you don't need to pay because of something else you provide (or can leverage against them), or if you can successfully make them forget you owe temporarily, then you don't owe until they make you pay up again.

I was so proud of myself for picking up on "the walk" when they were being introduced to the club. Persephone confirming my hunch made me wanna jump out of my chair!! I love Zoolander too but this wasn't a movie reference, it's about the real life traditions of NYC ball culture. I highly encourage peeps to do some research!
Brawn and Khalida are my favorite. Khalida has so much poise and character and I love who and what she represents, and she really steals the show with her charisma. Brawn has my heart as I find him the most relatable out of all four characters and arguably the most human. I would watch an entire season where Brawn takes on pit matches with his sire Glassjaw at his side, coaching him for matches, but that's not the story. There's more than meets the eye, for all of them. Haven't seen the episode fully yet, but I'm excited to learn more about Kiêm and Coco, as they have yet to steal my heart.
"Unlike someone, who no longer has a name to me" pardon my language but fucking brutal! Sweet Caine and the Antideluvians, that felt like getting jumped by a gang of nosferatu working with a gang of Gangrel sorta mental beat down, poor girl. Excellent work as always, I am loving this story
The endless contradictions of empathy this game inspires is incredible. I want Brawn to be okay, to have people that he can trust have his best interests at heart and aren't using him, I want him to have a little space amidst the missions and battles to be able to figure out his sexuality on his own terms like he might've been able to before he died. And yet I'm also aware that he's hungry, and that he likes it when his meal is afraid of him, he likes to be a predator. Every character has a monster within them in this game, just in slightly different forms. I love that the uncertainty and turmoil he feels is a tie to his humanity, a deeply human problem of desire and shame, and in turn the false bravado and confidence that he wears like a suit is indicative of the beast. Perhaps when he was alive that swagger and rage was just a mask, but now in death it clings to him, the violence he can cause is real and thus so is his power. He can use that strength to his advantage to get out under the thumb of the many people who want to use him, but if he leaves behind that torment and turmoil entirely it could lead to a downward spiral towards the Beast
29:35 "the... specific fuckiness... is unknown." However, what is very much known is, how Xander almost lost his shit right there and then due to Jason's dry-as-vampire-ash delivery.
I get a strong feeling that Simone is going to be one of the more important and often visible NPCs, which is a plus in my book, the character is very fun to watch as is everyone else 🩸The social skirmishing, tension within the coterie, the Walk and Xander waiting until the very end to do the "I am walking 'ere!" reference were my highlights. Stay awesome ^_^
Man, I really hate to say it but this Camarilla coterie has JUICY plot lines that I like a lot more than than the chaotic messiness of our Anarch coterie. I'm just a sucker for intrigue and manipulations so PLEASE DON'T END THIS SEASON ANY TIME SOON 😭😭😭
Amazing episode again! I love it to see certain characters (PC and NPC) manipulate information, trading boons and maneuvering other characters in positions that are beneficial for themselves. In my opinion, a Camarilla game is so much harder to pull off, but the rewards clearly speak for themselves.
this coterie really grew on me! excellent episode ♥️ I still prefer the anarch coterie because they're a bit more mysterious and their personal lives are so messy, but this episode was really a joy to watch. I feel like we felt Simone's power even more so than when we met her with the anarch coterie, maybe because she was in her turf and in her element? 😁
@@nouraibrahim6452 Overt versus covert power that is the separation of Ventrue and Lasombra. The question arises, could a Ventrue truly know their power moves aren't just their strings being pulled from the shadows by a Lasombra puppet master?
Can’t wait until Kiêm starts intersecting with Issac one way or another, bet they can have a session one on one just talking about the human body. Also interested to see how Kiêm would feel about the thing… the flesh craft…
*Chef's Kiss* As always, thank you for your entrancing visages conjured of such intricate and emotive words Mr. Carl, this was truly a most enlightening episode.
Just a quick warning. When watching the 2nd half of the video, you will need a chin rest as your jaw will be on the floor for the duration as it's one of the best hours of roleplaying ever done. You won't be able to pull yourself away. All 6 of them were just amazing. I hope Cynthia wasn't wearing those tight shoes she mentioned when she did those steps because those were quite loud when I don't think a mic was there. Also, come on Noura, that's probably just how you enter a room irl. ;) Poor Brawn. He's in desperate need of protection from all the things lest we all riot, and I am 100% confident that none of the coterie will lift a finger for him unless it benefits them. Sigh...this is going to end soon, and I'm not prepared at all.
They’re so divided that they’re all on the back foot when up against someone like Simone. Unfortunate for them that they aren’t able to trust and work together, but makes for an interesting, if a little one sided story.
This was wild. the long stare from Coco when Khalida complimented herself is something nobody pointed out and that really got me. Also how they pointed out their sires are clearly plotting and omg Khalida how can you not know any of this? Kiem's performance was wild but I wonder, if she made the catwalk full of blood, wouldn't that have made Coco's flamenco steps slidey? Brawn is always more and more of a cutie and has some real acceptation work to do. And honestly I don't blame Kiem for trying to switch sides and ask for Simone's protection, considering she just found out that probably the sires of the rest of the coterie murdered her own.
Goddamn I just absolutely adore Sephie in this role. Simone is such a BEAST (no pun intended) and she plays her with such ease, and yet such tension. It's incredible. Also, I both love and am terrified of Brawn.
This is a better series than its predecessor because it further expands the mythology of vampires in AWoD particularly the nuances of individual and collective politics where everyone is an antihero and villain of their own story and others. I especially enjoy that unlike in LA BY NIGHT, the Camarilla and Anarchs are given equal spotlight; neither is painted the lesser of two evils nor better. Everyone is interesting in both coteries, and the audience can pick their favorites from either and get excited for the inevitable clash!
Would love to play with a cast and story teller of this caliber. I love the politics and Intrigue of VTM. Its not easy finding a story teller and players that truly know how to weave a suspenseful chronicle. To really getting character on a Apex predator that is also cunning with the politics.
I can't believe we are already at episode 6! Wow do the weeks fly by. Loving every minute of this. Thank you Jason Carl and cast for some amazing entertainment.
Prefer this coterie over the Anarchs. Should make a little switcheroo between either Braun and Kiem with Reyes. His always wanted to be Camarilla and Braun could be tempted to join the Anarchs and Kiem is chaotic enough to say fuck the rules of the Tower.
I feel like when they all start coming together both groups will become even better as their flaws and virtues will play off each other in very interesting ways
@@poilboiler she is almost certainly a classical Sabbat- I don’t know if she’d be so into the death cult it is now, though. She’d definitely like running off to the Anarchs, though
@@poilboiler Agree....Kiem I can easily see going Sabbat. Rey would be far more at home in the Cam if he can overcome the prejudice towards his clan and Brawn is too good for the Camarilla back-stabbing...I'd happily see him go Anarch.
God, every episode with Simone is great, but this time -THIS TIME Persephone Valentine gave the performance of a lifetime. Next character I make is a Setite, absolutely.
They're a fractured and divided coterie and they were on Simone's turf and surrounded by her minions, who seem to move more or less in lockstep. Plus, Simone claiming to already have Rafferty's permission threw them off and undermined their attempt to claim domain. She could have been lying, of course, but and if so she kinda played them like a fiddle.
@@jerkchicken_expertlyseasoned I was referring to the Bliss game to get inside in the first place. At the point you're referring to yes, it makes sense given the overall situation. But when they first walked in none of that was in play yet
Not even their authority but the authority of the Camarilla. If Simone doesn't have her own Blood Hunt, Rafferty should have. If neither Simone nor Rafferty have, The Prince of New York is over. The fuckery is too much in plain sight. The main plots of the two visual novels were a lot less gross. In the second visual novel, the other Lasombra (the smoking one) is supposed to be the immigration inspector. She's directly under The Sheriff. Only the upper elite (primogen level) don't have to pass by The Sheriff and his acolytes. They pass by the Prince. "Immigration" means travel inside/outside Camarilla's New York. Big fishes are very picky, maniacal.
@@taliavaryn4393 while I haven't read the visual novels (I will definitely need to pick those up), I would completely agree with you if this was pre-Beckoning. With fledgelings and neonates seemingly running the show, or many aspects of it, I would assume things are a little more relaxed, at least as far as the coterie being considered to be representative of the Camarilla's authority rather than just their own. Though for a city as important as New York, it does seem like there would be some more active ancillae around? Do the visual novels speak to that? Also, do they say what rank, if any, Rafferty holds? Is he primogen?
@@jamesd5842 Rafferty seems to be an original character, or he was so low status that I don't remember him. Ventrue are not very present. In the first visual novel, you can play a Ventrue but as orphan. Whatever you play, your mentor is always a redhead Toreador. Rafferty seems inspired from her. Even Rafferty plots remember her plots. The Prince is Ventrue but she's like Khalida (Toreador alike). Most of the Camarilla bigger powers are Toreadors, even the Sheriff (Assamite alike). They are two usual archetypal of Ventrue characters, but one is Malkavian (corporate boss) and the other is Toreador (mastermind control freak). I needed currently check about the Ventrue Primogen. He's Addison Payne. He is very important in the second novel (absent in the first). Payne is the keeper of Traditions. He is described as the propagandist of the Ivory Tower ( I didn't understand if only in New York or everywhere). I think you need to play as True Lasombra for know the most about him (as I played). He is the elder that the young vampires should have in their pocket if they want to survive the politics. He's the more Camarilla, the more reliable. They should please the Sheriff too. There are another Primogen that could be nice to friend with, but better not spoil. We'll see what Jason Carl does with this character. I hope he played the right path of the second novel. In the first novel, one Anarch is tortured then executed (by the Sheriff) only because he went in Camarilla Territory (and attack a Camarilla Vampire). Lizzie and Airbox were lucky in the first episode. The third tradition (progeny) is the narrative hook of the first novel. Embraced without Prince's authorization.
House of Heels, Because They all wear them and i am one, so true and real. Thanks for that Xander also love the character building going on. I know i am late to the party on this but sometimes just have to comment. Can always count on good fun and dark themes on these.
from now on all my vampires will only solve their beefs with dance battles and drag shows. No battles, no gun shots, only serves. Camarilla and Sabbath confront? Make a catwalk battle. Trying to run from the inquisition? Only by voguing your way out. Fighting for territory? Lypsinc battle
I'm simultaneously ready and not ready for Kiem to jump and kill the next person who doesn't *immediately* do what she wants done or says what she wants to hear. Tense like a bow.
Khalida knows Rafferty didn't give Simone the property because in the last episode he said he didn't know they were there and (jokingly) that they owed him back rent. So did she forget? Or not call Simone on her blatant lie for a reason?
Thoughts: Last chronicle Jeanneret's X became the coterie pet. This time he's playing the pet again, but he and the whole coterie are leaning into it. Simone's actress is doing a really good job at playing the character... So much so that I really do not like Simone.
Interesting episode as each member seems to be coming into their own a bit and ambition is causing tension between some of them. Kiem is quiet chaos I think, she's going to cause some trouble once she finally snaps. I feel like Cynthia missed an opportunity to do a little shadow play around her hands for the walk or out of her eyes. Maybe she didn't want others knowing she's Lasombra.
So, my existence is a failure. I don't get to watch this as it airs most weeks, but this week was one of those weeks. I had had myself a very nice dinner with some wine, life was good. Then waiting for the show to start I fell asleep on the sofa and didn't come to until a quarter of an hour before the end. 🙄
1:25:40 Kiem I beg for fate as I watch this in the future :D PLEASE demand Simone's hair in exchange for you participating XDDD please it would be the best thing :D
Loved the episode. My favorite VtM clans have always been Tremere, Ravnos and Setites, going back to the 90s. Not a fan of the way Simone presents herself. I like Setites that play your 'friend' not the superior attitude, Simone seems more like a Tremere in attitude. I loved Miranda in LA by Night. I do not have any issues with Persephone - just don't care for the character. Maybe that's intentional from the actor.
1:42:07 Simone is the best setite vampire so far form every book or story by by miles brilliantly played :D playing desire so brilliantly and positively and so well just amazing

I have to say, I never would've expected to have a battle on a catwalk. I feel for the Kindred formerly known as Yvette....we'll miss her.....
Oh oh, Jason Carl just "made a note". We're all doomed 😉
I was so proud of myself for picking up on "the walk" when they were being introduced to the club. Persephone confirming my hunch made me wanna jump out of my chair!!
I love Zoolander too but this wasn't a movie reference, it's about the real life traditions of NYC ball culture. I highly encourage peeps to do some research!
it is fun to see NYC queer culture combined with the game
The "Flash Mob" line had me laughing out loud.
29:35 "the... specific fuckiness... is unknown."
However, what is very much known is, how Xander almost lost his shit right there and then due to Jason's dry-as-vampire-ash delivery.
Next season is when the two coteries meet, IIRC
@@jerkchicken_expertlyseasoned Marvel V DC time. :)
I love my Anarchs but I can give credit where credits is do this episode is one of THE best I’ve seen up there with the end of LA by Night! 👏 👏 👏
This is why I prefer playing Camarilla games. The intrigue is next level
Kiem spent more willpower to stop herself from laughing at Brawn at the end
FR xD 😂😂😂 I CANT LMAO
This show is great. I'm glad I'm finally up to date on all the episodes, they're fangtastic
Kiem is getting more terrifying each week......
She's by far the scariest Toreador I've seen anyone play ever, and I've played a lot of them
Once again Jason reminds us of how good a storyteller he is.
FANCY BRONE
I would argue that any power move is very much a Ventrue thing 😂
Fancy BRAWN ya mean
@@nouraibrahim6452 Overt versus covert power that is the separation of Ventrue and Lasombra. The question arises, could a Ventrue truly know their power moves aren't just their strings being pulled from the shadows by a Lasombra puppet master?
"The house of Heels, because you all wear 'em and I am one"
The hunger acting by J.C is amazing!
You can tell Xanders been waiting all episode to use that line
The look on Khalidas face when she hears about The Walk, amazing
Can’t wait until Kiêm starts intersecting with Issac one way or another, bet they can have a session one on one just talking about the human body. Also interested to see how Kiêm would feel about the thing… the flesh craft…
Kiem has been giving me Volgirre vibes so who knows!
@@Gakuloid Seconded, she appears not to know about the Sabbat from what she said in her solo episode but all bets are off with Amadeus.
*Chef's Kiss* As always, thank you for your entrancing visages conjured of such intricate and emotive words Mr. Carl, this was truly a most enlightening episode.
Slay Simone, Slay
This is when I wish we had a full body cam on the show.
I would love to see the LA coterie meet Brawn.
They’re so divided that they’re all on the back foot when up against someone like Simone. Unfortunate for them that they aren’t able to trust and work together, but makes for an interesting, if a little one sided story.
I just remembered that there's a vampire club in D20's Unsleeping City. Now I can't stop imagining crossovers. Imagine Pete Conlan meeting Brawn.
imagine Cody v Coco dark-off
I WAS THINKING THIS
This was wild.
the long stare from Coco when Khalida complimented herself is something nobody pointed out and that really got me.
Goodness, I’m so impressed with the monumental wave of talent from them. I was on the edge of my seat all episode! 👏 👏
I have to disagree. I'm not feeling anywhere near connected to these characters as I was LA By Night. Still a good watch though.
Sassy Jason about half way in is amazing.
Sorry I missed the livechat, folks! Man, Coco's really touching nerves.
Would love to play with a cast and story teller of this caliber. I love the politics and Intrigue of VTM. Its not easy finding a story teller and players that truly know how to weave a suspenseful chronicle. To really getting character on a Apex predator that is also cunning with the politics.
So.
Let's tell a glam-pire story.
She seemed almost disappointed she wasn’t allowed to kill that mortal in the alley last episode
Kiem seem more Sabbath to be honest.
Brawn's too good for this coterie. 19:07 Aw, he's found a new favorite word!
I'm a little perplexed why the coterie came to establish their authority but then played Simone's game without question
Symone is everything. Damn I need a Ministry member in my coterie.
You have exceeded my expectations Thank you
House of Heels, Because They all wear them and i am one, so true and real. Thanks for that Xander also love the character building going on. I know i am late to the party on this but sometimes just have to comment. Can always count on good fun and dark themes on these.
Brawn: house of heels cuz you guys wear them and i am one
I just love the way xander reacts to the question 👍😘
Man, I really need to get someone to Storytell a Masquerade game - I have a Toreador concept that's burning a hole in my pocket, so to speak.
Really? What's the character like?
Must protect Brawn from the duplicitious people in his coterie. He's a very punchy cinnamon roll in comparison.
DID SIMONE JUST QUOTE RUPAUL
I love it here
I need to get to get to this awesome club!
Jason as Yvette is so funny! I love him.
Brawn
"We're waking here" 😂 i freaking died. RIP 🪦
It would have been funny if Brawn had asked Khalida if his outfit was pedantic.
As a queer Brawn being queer hit me like a fight freight train even the second time watching through. I love Brawn so much!
Awesome pg vibe of this. Yess.
I wish Rey was in Simone's club to cut through all this theatrical bullshit =D
Why is Simone not credited in the description? As well as Aisling in the previous episodes?😢
This was a ton of fun.
.........I think the issue with this season is that it's too good. I want more episodes 😩
from now on all my vampires will only solve their beefs with dance battles and drag shows. No battles, no gun shots, only serves. Camarilla and Sabbath confront? Make a catwalk battle. Trying to run from the inquisition? Only by voguing your way out. Fighting for territory? Lypsinc battle
please omg
The world needs even more WOD! Oh loving Hunter! Also hope we get more.
This episode was an absolute rollercoaster of emotion. Bravo! 👏
What in the Ru Paul Walk of the Vaddies is this episode?
love the dance it's perfect
32:34 I see your face light up, Khalida!
Crush it Coco!
NY is Burning
❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
"Beautiful Looks"....is Noura just playing herself in vampire form? 😉
House of Heels - We're walking 'ere.
They'd better hope no one does the pull the undergarment out of the pants trick on the walk off - oh wait! 😛
1:59:02 th at was some Toreador Vampire lord move :D nice
Your all awesome
NGL, if I was playing, you best believe I'd be working for Simone
i enjoy brawn reaction when kiem said the front door
Kiêm really called her Little Evie 😂😂😂 this episode was so queer and I loved it all. Thanks for sharing 💜
1:25:40 Kiem I beg for fate as I watch this in the future :D PLEASE demand Simone's hair in exchange for you participating XDDD please it would be the best thing :D
1:25:58 you hair pelae your hair please your hair pleas XD
Loved the episode. My favorite VtM clans have always been Tremere, Ravnos and Setites, going back to the 90s. Not a fan of the way Simone presents herself. I like Setites that play your 'friend' not the superior attitude, Simone seems more like a Tremere in attitude. I loved Miranda in LA by Night. I do not have any issues with Persephone - just don't care for the character. Maybe that's intentional from the actor.
Wait, they are all beautiful with a Nos companion? Damn, that's gotta sting for poor Brawn
Brawn is my Bliss
Wait....what is Kiem's ghoul's name again? Cause I'd swear Simone just name-dropped him to do some work.
I swear Khalida gives me more Toreador vibes than Ventrue, and Kiêm feels more like a Malkavian Antitribu from 3rd edition than a Toreador.
I want to see Kiem succeed. 💜
It's a good thing Brawn is undead, if he were mortal his immune system would eventually be shot.
1:42:07 Simone is the best setite vampire so far form every book or story by by miles brilliantly played :D playing desire so brilliantly and positively and so well just amazing
1:40:17 hit me like a mutha fuckin freight train
