I have been using this way since my training in the early 1980's as a police recruit.Lately, the know it alls in magazines and rangemasters have been telling me not to do it,to use more of the center part of the finger tip.I have resisted them and now you affirm my belief that this way works(it works for me).Thanks.
Is amazing the difference. I was also thought with the middle of the tip of the finger but I realized my trigger control was difficult. I tried this other way and is way better. Pat Mac also advices the same.
Thanks for this video and your comment, I'm in the same boat here. I have long skinny fingers and me trying to use the middle pad actually causes more issues.
Thank you! So clear and concise
YES SIR, thanks for the great video, I always pull when I shoot, will definitely give this a whirl, now I just need to figure out whether my dominant eye is throwing me off, I'll look to see if you have a video on this. Right handed with a dominant left eye!
That's EXACTLY where I place my trigger finger! Most people teach, to use the middle of the pad. I push shots left, when I do that. Great video!
Interesting
I have the same problem. I'll have to try this
I have this same issue! I thought i was crazy
It’s amazing how much better you shoot doing that,I noticed it the last time I went to the range. This is excellent advice, and definitely how you should do it!!!!
My fingers are longer and placing my tip on the trigger feels uncomfortable and not right. So, I eventually started practicing finger placement and found that it feels more comfortable this way. Thanks for the enforcement.
Physiology major I approve this message. I shoot that way it’s not too much and not too little in terms of pressure. That area of the phalanges is called the dip joint between middle and distal phalanx
very good tip, kind similar to wearing thin insole shoes or bear foot when drag racing to improve on reducing time needed for car to react
Great advice. I don't know why almost everyone advices to use the middle of the tip. Pat Mac also recommends what you say. I trust Pat Mac and also you.
Thanks , good tip from pro shooter
Thanks Doug!!!
Thank you so much . For this video I knew I wasn’t crazy
I was already a pretty good shooter, but once my buddy taught me this trick… it took me to the next level 💯
I'm kinda mad that I didn't know this earlier man. Improved my consistency and aim instantly.
I definitely saw great results at the gun range qualifying with a Glock 45 MOS. Thanks for the tip.
We are happy this video helped you!
Anyone know what holster/system he is utilizing in the video?
If I use the tip I lose sensitivity when I get that adrenaline
lose the foreskin
Do you ever get comments on a post a year later and think "I have no idea what or why I said this?"
And yea the foreskin give more sensitivity Rusty's got it right loll
@Rusty Shackleford get rid of the foreskin
giggity
"Hi, I'm Doug Koenig and I have a metric shitpile of ammo on my hip."
Thank you I will
Can't argue with what works... for single action and striker fired pistols.
Ya see idk, I first noticed barrel movement when I USED to use that knuckle hes talking about, then when I realized I and trigger pull movement i switched to the tip and notice less trigger pull problems
It really depends on your finger geometry. Whichever way allows you to go straight back is what you should do. For people with longer fingers, using just the pad of your finger tip can push your shots.
Do you know why my Taurus gx4 isn’t firing semi-auto? I have to cock it back after every shot
If your left eye dominant like I am, instructor showed me technique to tilt gun slightly. Very slightly towards left eye. As well as moving it closer to left eye. If I remember these steps I’m dead on. Hope this helps someone
for me it depends on which pistol Im shooting. I put my finger in the trigger where it naturally is when gripping the gun. it falls in a different place on different guns.
I think this is where I place my finger. I'll check. Thanks
That's what I've always done. Using the tip make trigger pull more difficult and too far beyond the first joint causes barrel shift.
Why when i press the trigger (dry fire or with ammo) i move the gun and that’s makes my grouping horrible? How can i fix that?
I def think he should’ve used a closeup of his gun and exactly what he meant while filming. I understood, but I guarantee plenty of people who watched this didn’t get a full grasp of what he was trying to teach/convey
I don't understand why the barrel gets pushed to the left when I pull the trigger held with right hand . if anything it should get pulled to the right instead.
I am an army vet, lost my Rt index finger. How can I shoot better
Pulling trigger, or squeeze trigger
If I use too much trigger finger I shot better. The less I use the crapper my shots become. Don’t know why - if anyone else is like this. I’d like to hear your thoughts.
Maybe because the trigger pull seems lighter when you use more finger? That's what I notice when dryfiring.
26 people used the tip of their finger to dislike this video.
His magazine pouch is about the size of my pistol case.
The tip of the finger is a technique that came from rifle snipers, and thought to be as effective for handguns. It wasn't.
Personally myself,
i squeeze the trigger....Heehee
I like to get as much of my hand on the Gun to create the best stability and Not to leave a bunch of space between the length of my trigger on the gun frame. Leaving a fulcrum can’t easily lead to “jerking” or having a couple flyers that don’t even come close to your group
That is sort of what I've found as well. We may just need bigger frames on our pistols lol
The only reason to become a competitive shooter would if you
we're hired by a gun manufacturer to
promote their products.
That method might work for you, but to assume everyone has the same size hands and fingers is absurd. The goal is to place your finger in a position to squeeze straight back.....NOT to put it in a position that might work best from someone else.
get a water gun and practice
