Real life artillery math becomes quite complex in addition to these trig computations shown here. Real life has air, so drag and lift (and spin if the barrel is rifled) has to be accounted for. These terms also depend on atmospheric conditions like humidity, pressure, and temperature as well. Earth is curved, so the actual distance between targets does not exactly equate mercator projection distances. Earth is spinning and the earth’s surface being used for frame of reference is non inertial as a result. Rotating frames introduce the Coriolis term and Centrifugal terms which become non negligible for long range high velocity artillery rounds. Also, the earth’s latitude becomes very important as tangential velocity of earth spinning varies by latitude. There are even more higher order terms as well. I remember some years ago back in my undergrad our mechanics courses made us do some of these computations.

Ok so after rewatching the vid a bunch i kinda understand what he's doing: First seems to use the 2nd cosines law thingy (b² = a² + c² - 2ac x cosB) to find out what b² is, as b² is also the input. According to the notes: a = 1732.3 ft (distance Battery to Observer) c = 1192.9 ft (observer to target) B = 119.5° (angle forward observer) Using this we can fill in the formula: b² = a² + c² - 2ac × cos (B) Remember the variables? b² = 1732.3² + 1192.9² - 2(1732.3)(1192.9) × cos(119.5) Calculating that we get b² = 6,459,021.54 But we can't use b² as our input, so we have to turn b² into b, we do that by using the root of b² aka √6,459,021.54 Calculating that we get b = 2,541.460513 Now we have our input, but we're not done. To get the firing angle we need to use the ballistics formula which is 4 × (b/1400) Now, remember what b is? Yes, b is 2,541.46 so we use 2,541.46 here. 4 × (2,541.46/1400) Using that we get 7.2613157518 of which we can use just 7.26 Now you go to the officer and give him that number (7.26) The rest is quite easy, what you want to do now is use your binoculars to look at the dot (your target) and write down the bearings. Then you subract those bearings from 270 so 270 - 248.5 = 21.5 I actually don't know how or why he got 270, i think he just looks at the other artillerymen who stand at around 270 bearing from him, so i can assume that's where he got it from. Give the officer that number, and fire. So it's surprisingly simple if you had maths qt school. I will say, that i am not an expert in this, it is just what i saw looking at the video, maths was one of my worst subjects in school lmao. There also seem to be angle drag corrections and stuff in the video which he didn't use. It isn't a finished project either. b² = a² + c² - 2ac × cos (B)
Remember the variables?
b² = 1732.3² + 1192.9² - 2(1732.3)(1192.9) × cos(119.5)
Calculating that we get
b² = 6,459,021.54
But we can't use b² as our input, so we have to turn b² into b, we do that by using the root of b² aka √6,459,021.54

Now, remember what b is? Yes, b is 2,541.46 so we use 2,541.46 here.

1. the game will be a 1v1 or 2v2 match between artillery batteries
2. it will play out sort of like the battleship board game, except there are a few things that help you win and relies heavily on math
its kind of like a competitive math game ☠️ but its cool
background of KOB:
- you are an artillery fire control officer, which means you will take in information for destroying targets with your battery
- the enemy team also has an artillery battery
- in between the opposing batteries, there is an AI fight going on (example antares vs. riaa), and your job is to support your side with artillery fire. the enemy battery will also be supporting their team
conditions to win:
1. complete your fire mission (destroy the enemy team's AI troops)
2. successfully perform counter-battery fire (destroy the enemy team's artillery battery)
mechanics:
- artillery is blind and relies on information given over radio to destroy objectives
- the more your artillery fires, the more you expose your battery's location to enemy forward observers and vice versa
- forward observers are your best friend as they give you information on targets to destroy, and if the enemy battery is firing, the forward observers radio you a little information that could help you pinpoint the enemy battery and destroy it
- if you fire your artillery and it ends up hitting friendly positions, you are penalized and a point goes to the enemy
- relies *heavily on math*; trigonometry is the main method, and you are supposed to use a calculator to get your firing solution
overall, it's a race between who can do the math quicker and choosing your time wisely to either complete artillery objectives or destroy the enemy battery
this is just a rough draft for the idea i had for the future of king of battle

This is why we have math
would've been a fun game ngl

Imagine learning more Math than school would ever teach because of a Roblox game. God bless.
Mfw 1st semester precalculus
How do i change my mouse cursor like urs?

Porfin las matematicas sirven para algo en la vida.

I understand why in my country military officers are often good at math
It would be cool if that
Is a game
Oh god that looks painful i hope when this comes out theres a option to make this more arcade like and somewhat easy because i dont think i can suffer through this.
Also a suggestion a fire for effect option should be a thing so when you get the target correct you can have your team fire at that area until its destroyed or until you tell them to stop so you dont have to tell them to fire every single time you want to fire.
i think thats called fire for effect (FFE)
@@imanin9972i know also im wondering if this game is still being worked on since this is the only dev video
This is probably ganna be single player or 1v1, so no team most likely
@@jwilson7809 yeah i assumed this was gonna be a mission driven kind of thing or whatever since it uses real arty math
@@gingerparks9498 I think it's like a campaign system
Idk if we gonna be on antares and orion, or just antares
Is this game still being worked on? Are there any plans to release sometime? It looks awesome and I really want to give it a try.
the creator said he will soon
@@buhar3987 Thanks for responding, do you know when exactly?
ClassicMasterNoob pls do a water phase
i'd actually love if artillery got added in this way as a role in Centaura, so you'd actually need advanced math knowledge instead of just having to click on something to cause massive damage.
fr
Nerds would just ruin the game fr
They'd precisely hit the trenches where the enemy spawns all the time
I want same math lessons
Hope this gets put into centaura
it wont
It will be it's own separate game
saw it on tik tok before it got deleted
