    Wow, what a project, amazing work. When things get large it's tricky to have the same intuitive feel for weights and forces. Great job.

    Awesome engineering achievement. Can you tell me what the mesh/screen material is please ?

    • @VE6BGT
      @VE6BGT  14 днів тому

      Hello Gregory, thanks for reaching out to me.. The mesh is what's called hardware cloth.. You can buy it at different hardware stores in different sizes of the holes or squares.. I bought the smallest possible so that it would be useable at higher frequencies such as 6CM or 5.7 Ghz..
      It is miserable stuff to work with and cut to size, lots of cuts and blood shed ha ha.. It didnt roll off perfectly flat and had a lot of "warped" sections so it took a lot of tie down points to hold it flat as possible. Thanks, Skip

      @@VE6BGT Thank you for the quick reply, I guess it's like a woven galvanized or stainless steel mesh.

    • @VE6BGT
      @VE6BGT  14 днів тому

      @@gregorydobson4307 Yes thats a good way of explaining it, just galvanized mesh.. Not Stainless for sure...

    years later now - should you remake the dish, would you change things in the design?

    • @VE6BGT
      @VE6BGT  Рік тому

      I would make it bigger ha ha.. No it is big enough.. I would probably add more rings that go around the ribs inside so that the mesh is held more maybe, especially out at the outer edge of the reflector surface.. other than that I am perfectly happy with it.. Skip
