so cool WOW what a real great video and so fun to watch getting more interested in doing what you do Skip. first got to get 23cm going but nice to copy the cw so clearly I hope I have the same great success and adventure. So nice to share Skip enjoy your videos and learning so much for me 100% learning Many million billion thanks wb7qxu Mike
Very cool Skip ! I'm really impressed with your mechanical work, especially the actuator control to peak the focal point ! Are you any closer to being able to transmit and start making QSOs ? Hugh, VA3TO.
Nice setup and that dish should be plenty of gain for 3cm. How fine is the dish mesh? Needs to be less than 10% of the wavelength so smaller than 3mm for 3cm band?
Hello Dwayne, the big dish has a mesh of around 4mm opening holes if I can recall correctly.. This was more of an experiment as you will see in other videos where I tried a 6 foot solid dish that was better than the large 21 foot mesh dish.. It was just a test to see what was what.. I am working on a 6 foot offset dish now.. I have a few videos on it and its being worked on for the final assembly eventually.. More videos on it so stay tuned.. Skip
Hello and thanks for asking.. Yes its a combination if I remember correctly, the solar noise bouncing off it when it can, or the "dark noise" all natural objects emit at these higher frequencies.. Skip
Hello Steve, the big mesh dish has a diameter of 21.5 feet.. f/d is .444.... Works great up to 6cm and does work for 3cm but in the other video, part-2, the little 6 foot solid is as good or better.. Nothing not know but interesting to see in real time effect.. Skip
Wonderful Skip, one of the most enjoyable ham radio videos I've ever seen!

That was real cool Skip. I had no doubt that you would receive something off.
Do you have an amplifier for 3cm??
Thanks Skip...good stuff - VK3CSJ
Skip, I really enjoyed the video. Very informative. Dave N9HF el99

Skip, that proves you might be able to make some Q’s. What is your calculated beam width. ?
Icom have just came out with the ic905 Transceiver that have 10 Ghz,
AI5FF Looking to start doing this myself.
Is "lunar noise" just sun noise bouncing off the moon?

Skip, what is the opening size of the mesh in your dish?
