VH31 is a cracking movement on a Grab And Go watch. No date complication to faff with and accurate even across months. I have three watches with this movement.
And high beat!
I really depend on a date complication so… otherwise I’d go for it. In the U. S. you can order a replacement movement online from Walmart for under $15 so even if it fails after a few years you can fix things with a few watch tools.
And beautiful sweeping movement. Literally the most complete movement.
I bought this watch for £24 in the sale last year and i get so many compliments at work for it. It has Tif Blue OP vibes and that solid link bracelet is the best I’ve had on a cheap watch. Great pick out Jody! Highly recommend!!!

I rather go with something that do its own thing in teal, an Alba "Gelato" series for example.

So PG is now selling a watch with double-domed sapphire for $35 in a dress watch and Seiko itself is STILL selling $300-$400+ Presage watches with Hardlex? Orient doesn't get to Sapphire unless you spend $200 or more and that's on divers. Even for Casio you have to spend over $100. Will the "mainstream" companies ever get a clue? It's insane at his point.
Who’s point?
Pretty sure Seiko and Orient are doing just fine; they know what they can and cannot do (in terms of market response), and have determined that it is still profit maximizing to reserve sapphire for higher price points. The question is: when will mainstream customers start migrate en masse to Chinese watch brands and their higher value offerings? Until that starts to happen on more significant numbers, I don't think Seiko/Orient feel the need to compete against the likes of Pagani Design. Oh, and Seiko still has a respectable name brand, a for real warranty, a rich history. So they don't need to compete on specs/value alone. I own more Seikos than any other brand, and several Chinese specials, as well so I appreciate them both, and I hope no one takes this comment as prejudiced or trolling.
@ohhenry2 I have several Seikos too. I still wear them. But more and more as I see them raise prices even on Seiko 5s and continue to have alignment issues and QC issues while still putting hardlex on a $500 watch while a random Chinese company can put out a watch with a Seiko movement and double-dome sapphire for $35, it does make even a Seiko lover even wonder if the company even cares anymore about its product or most loyal consumers (not the casual buyer).

with chinese watches you get 2x or even 3x on your money in terms of value ... however I would stay away from Chinese movements... in this case with a seiko movement for 35$ its a no brainer... ask 100 guys and not even 1 will tell you its a sub 100$ watch.
I was on the fence with Pagani Design for years. Then I got one. Then another, and another! Not perfect but holy crap, great bang per buck

i avoid them too. bought a couple paganis a long time ago and they have major quality control issues. just not worth it.
i have some brands that are assembled in china - but the large brands who have work done there are able to impose higher qc measures vis a vis their supply chain contracts and by having their own employee management present at chinese facilities. i do not buy chinese only brands. @@chrispekel5709

The green dial is 2-3 time more expensive idk why , maybe cause it resemble grand Seiko more and is more legible more noticeable, the hands are amazing on this watch ⌚ that's my take on this

Good review of a bargain watch but I really like how you mention where the straps come from. Perhaps not worth a full review but knowing where to get them is very helpful, especially for those of us who don't live in a big city. Please keep doing this & if you can, perhaps add some links?

The PD-1734 is another model with the VH31 movement and it looks sort of like a Grand Seiko homage with a "meteorite" dial. Would be great for you to check it out!

An A500 and an A4000/040 here. Any year now, I'll remember to check them so that capacitors and clock batteries haven't started leaking all over the PCBs.

Holy smokes! That’s an insane deal. For me the biggest surprise is the screw links. I was going to buy that Casiotron reissue for $3,500, but I’m going buy a 100 of these instead!

Great review and I went for one, my first Ali purchase ever. I certainly don't regret it, lovely watch and tremendous quality. Price considered, in my case £18! I'd say it's ridiculous quality. In fact I'd argue the review is a tad tough on the quality of the bracelet, imho it's very good. Very easy to adjust too. Subscribed to the channel, excellent production value on your videos 👍

I’ve tried Artisan Straps and would not recommend them. I had one of their leather straps come apart in under a year. Artisan replaced that one but the replacement had the same issue. Radio silence when i contacted them for a remedy. Also, do those who buy sub $100 watches with features like on this Pagani stop and think about who in the production chain is being exploited to bring a watch like this to market for this price?
My wife got me a Pagani watch for Christmas. It had some wrong color parts on the watch. I returned it and got a Casio Edifice chrono instead for the same price.

Hey Jodie, did you really have an Amiga 500, or did you just get the T- shirt . I had one, great PC.
I bought one of these and think it is rather refined and elegant for the money, far out of its price range.I also think the supplied SS bracelet is of a good quality.The dial itself glimmers in a lovely way with certain lighting and the seiko movement with the 4 ticks a second is excellent for the price.
When I had it on wrist for the first time and showed it to my better half?, she glowered at me and asked how much I had spent.

I have one in green, definitely a hell of a lot of watch for the money! Agree with the use of loctite. First full day I wore it one of the screws worked loose and the bracelet was a few mm away from coming apart completely.
That's a great look in combination with the honey/caramel colored leather strap. More cheap watch reviews please!

It's a Rolex OP clone but in typical Pagani fashion their photocopier was a little light on ink and the dimensions got a but fluffed. This clone is of the 39mm but it is somewhere between the OP 39 and 36 in dimensions.
I own a white dial Rolex OP 36mm and it's one of my favorite GADA watches of all time. It goes with me to the gym and to business meetings. Best part about a real OP is that they are so unassuming. You get all the quality of a Rolex without dealing with wearing a Rolex (cause most people won't recognize it as a Rolex)
You should look at the Cadisen "Lunar Pilot". Cheap, quartz and a Lot smaller!

I really like the date complication so the solid mechaquartz movement (now also made in Hong Kong, and available retail for under US$15 for one) just isn’t for me. Not too shabby a watch for the money.
That honey brown strap looks quite nice indeed.
You should review their PD-1783 DD40 homage. I bought a pair with ruby red and ice blue dials for my wife, and she says that Rolex owners have confused them with the real ones. I just bought an indigo blue dial for $70 for myself and I'm waiting for reviews on the gold/green one to decide on whether to buy one too on the next sale event.
This is pretty nice, i would 100% wear it with the black leather strap!
Got me the green one, threw the bracelet away and have put it on a light brown suede NATO. Yep, the lume is so bad that I asm myself why they even bothered, but apart from that, it's as cheap and cheerful as it gets.
It doesn't look too bad, especially on the aftermarket straps. Although, maybe Pagani could introduce a vintage styled variant of their logo that would go better with classically styled watches like this one. The current logo is IMHO too modern looking.
It only took a few minutes of watching to pull the trigger. Even with local sales tax, I’m only out about $36. Thanks for the video, Jody. 👍🏻

I experimented with a VH31 movement based build a little while ago, but struggled with finding a dial to fit without modifying it. I hope it gets more traction, it's a versatile movement

Hi Jody, how is the finish between the lugs? I have a Daytona from Pagani and if i dare to remove the bracelet for a different watch strap there is such ugly and rough machining between the lugs. Did they do it better now? I would love to weare a watch like this on different straps or bracelets, but when the inside of the lugs looks so rough i will always stare at it 😂
