@@IndieRockerHippy This is so harsh! Rune is just an enthusiastic kid and still have time to learn and be more mature! There is no comparison in this aspect with Rublev who is six years older! In fact Rune is a very nice person, always care to thank people and even interacing with them. If you follow him closely you will know. What happens on the court doesn't really defines what kind of person he is, 90% of players have unlikeable behaviour under the heat of the match and it is totally okay as long as it ends outside it. I'm not particularly his fan but just to be fair!
@@x.6940 I respect your opinion but I also have my own opinion. Multiple times I've seen him behave in ways that I just don't like. And that's ok. We all have different likes
The commentators on most of Andrey's matches almost always root for his opponents & overly criticise Andrey (I'm speaking mostly about English-speaking commies here).. Their bias is always so obvious & often vindictive🙄
as much as i am impressed by alcaraz and all the other younger players who are accomplishing so much at such a young age, i am more impressed with players like andrey who’s been around for a while and has tried and tried and never give up until he’s succeeded. well done andrey, i’ve been a fan since and i am so happy for your well deserved win.
At the end of 2022 people were saying that this generation was already over and the next next gen would take everything, but guys like Medvedev and Rublev are showing that they still have something to say
Charming, sweet guy. So refreshing, not a defensive, self centred macho athlete. Really refreshing! So happy for you, Andrey, that you won. The change in your behaviour on court was very obvious, mentally you weren't beating yourself up, you were thinking, positively. So glad to not have to watch you beat yourself up with your racquet!
If you think you can't love this guy even more, you get proven wrong. Listening to this interview makes my heart beat faster 💓 You're such on a good way, Andrey 😇 And you get sooo much love & support, which makes me very happy 🥰 Couldn't be more proud of you & to be your fan! 😃 Go on, we all will stay b your side!! ❤️❤️❤️
I've watched tennis pretty much every day there's a tournament for years now and I can't remember the last time I got about three feet from the TV with my hands on my knees so nervous for someone like when Andrey served for the match. Wanted this one for him. So happy he got it and glad he stuck it to all the clowns that thought he could never do it.
Rublev was amazing. I love the dude's humility and focus. Rune's body seems to give out in these long matches. He has to work on his fitness if he wants to go deep in these tournaments.
It was not this match being long, it was the late finish of his semifinal plus the very different court conditions in the final. No surprise he missed a lot of balls he would normally make. But it’s alright he will grow by experiences like this and Rublev deserved the 1000 title at last.
@@patrikmarflak6559 If you watched live you'd notice that his body collapsed in the 3rd set even tho he was leading (one point away from being 5-2 or 5-1), he called for the physio for salts and other additives. he screamed at his box for help. The same thing happened in mexico. He needs to work on physical endurance and have his drinks ready to go.
@@mkader2494 I know he has problems with cramping and I agree the drinks should have been ready in a match like this. But do you think if he was physically better, he would be willing to play longer rallies and wouldn't try to finish points more quickly with riskier shots? I don't think so, it's his style and he is still tactically immature, so he always goes big, especially when he is leading on the scoreboard. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes not. Well done for Rublev that he stayed calm and patient, he won the third set by great defence, because Rune was on fire. Maybe he was 95% percent physically and only those 5% were missing from him to play more effective aggressive tennis. I don't think his body collapsed as you put it, I have seen him in much worse conditions at the end of some long matches. But his mind and soul collapsed when he missed two smashes at 5:5, and from then on, he just couldn't find the will and strength to fight anymore. That was the moment his body gave up. If he let the ball drop, he would probably win both points and the whole match could have ended differently. If I look at the match as a whole, I think he had to dig deeper than Rublev in terms of physical effort, but that's no surprise, Rublev had about 5 hours more to regenerate after the semifinal. It's not a small advantage on this level.
Everyone on the comments giving excuses for Rune - late SF, conditions etc etc.. Andrey & all other players have had to deal with situations like this too and the fact remains that match fitness, being able to deal with non-ideal conditions & situations physically etc are just as important for winning matches as actual tennis skills... If you lose because your fitness isn't up to par, that's part of tennis. Having said that, Rune's shot-selection is often not great in the moment either (not just in this match) because his tennis IQ is still developing ... Hopefully he can increase his tennis IQ without needing his multiple coaches' help all the time & develop his game with confidence, not arrogance.
Deserved it. This guy has been hanging on a certain level of outcome for last 2-3 seasons...and is nice to see him break through. Dude interviews straight forward and honestly.
This match is my most favourite since I started to support him, when I was watching the Monte Carlo final, supporting him, cheering for him, it was like I was on the court watching him live. What a humble and earnest champ! To hear the crowd chant, “Andrey” just before the final game - goosebumps! Congratulations Andrey, so happy for him!
He absolutely deserved it ❤️❤️
Everybody so hyped on Rune, but Rublev showed his best tennis and it was a treat!!!! Congratulations Andrey!!!
Nobody likes Rune, he’s an arrogant spoiled child. It’s fair to say that the fan favorite was Rublev.
👏👏👏 Yes agree
Rune is the polar opposite of Rublev when it comes to likeability! Hard to not love Rublev but very hard to like Rune
