Most impressive game on the Genesis (Mega Drive) to date. Pseudo 3D graphics on the Genesis wasn't really common and the whole game is like this so it is pretty great game to show what the Genesis is capable of.
Well Snes was already doing this, plus they had the same game. It's just that the music in the Genesis one is always better than the SNES versions of the same game.

In Japan a couple games crossed over, and every single time the SNES sounded better (Pac-Man 2, and a Shin-chan game). I've played Toy Story when it first came out at one of those kiosks Sears had in them, this game is overrated as hell, definitely not one of the better Disney games for either 16 bit console. Most of the nostalgia for this game, and the movie are from people who were kids at the time this came out, I was no kid anymore at that point, so the movie, nor game ever appealed to me. I have always felt the Japanese put more love and care into their games than western developed games ever did.

Incredible game the graphics are absolutely incredible for the Mega Drive especially the dog chase level in Sid's House and claw machine. Not to mention this version has the exclusive driving level that wasn't on the Snes version due to hardware limitations.
No it actually couldn't due to it's slower cpu it could have if they used a super FX chip but it was extremely rare that a 3rd party developer used any additional chips on the cart.
I have fond memories playing this over and over again as a kid. One of the best MegaDrive/Genesis games ever made. And if I may say, this is also the complete and polished version of this game, as compared to the SNES version.
Fun fact: Sega made Toy Story the last pack-in game for the Mega Drive in the UK. A great way to showcase just how far the Mega Drive had come in its six years of being on the market (Christmas 1996).

Am I seeing a modernized Sega Saturn game?! 🤯 Oh and yes, this version includes the deleted driving stage from the Super Nintendo version. It wasn't included in that version due to limitations with the hardware.

I didn’t even know he was Gamehut till I looked up stuff on Google, his personal channel, and the games that he is responsible for with many other people. It is fascinating that he and many other people regardless of competition have made such impactful content.
There's a lot of great games on the Genesis other then this one, like the Sonic games (1-3 and Sonic & Knuckles), ToeJam & Earl, Micheal Jackson's Moonwalk, ect.
I did! I was 8 years old when this came out. The key was to collect as many stars as you could. I remember crying because me and my brother would take turns and he wouldn't get those damn stars and we would lose haha
Toy Story hasn't been ported to PlayStation and that's frustrating for me. Also, Sega Genesis was on a decline in its sales due to Sega Saturn, for the latter of which the game was also not ported.

This is probably one of the best looking, if not THE best mega drive game graphically. The cutscene images are incredible, the pre rendered sprites look great.. Travellers Tales really knew how to utilise the Mega Drive to it’s full potential

This is one of the games I'm glad that a) I ended up getting as a random gift back in '96, and b) I'm glad I held on to after all of these years. I can't remember how many hours, days, weeks etc. I spent playing the hell out of this game. Although I admit, it used to kick my butt..... I think the furthest I ever got in the game, before this year anyway (and I can't remember the last time I tried playing it before this year, probably sometime between 2000 and 2010), was the first Sid's Bedroom/House stage, basically the first stage after the claw-machine stage. I was always curious what the differences there are (if any) between this version and the Super Nintendo version, so I'll probably have to get the SNES version someday. Either way, a film-based game done right. If I had any complaints, they would just be minor nitpicks. Mostly how they made stages out of short segments or scenes in the film, although I think the biggest would be the controls for the RC car..... but even so, I've mastered controlling the RC car mostly.
Fun Fact: The Nightmare Buzz boss battle is actually a recreation of a part that was cut from the actual movie. As a kid, I obviously never would’ve guessed that was the case, but, learning that AS AN ADULT, that’s actually really cool. I wanted to bring that up, because I never actually see anyone mention it. You learn something new every day, after all!

Sega before has the capability for 3d but most developers did not use it they thought we would hate it
Heavily simplified in comparison to Doom, and Doom was rush released. Doom could have been much, much better.

There is ONE bad toy story game: the SNES version of this game. But even that one is still pretty good

+game84cube Buzz lighttyear of star command is a good game. But now that I think of it, there is ONE truly bad toy story game: toy story 2 on the gameboy color. Its like this game shown in the video, but you play as buzz and the controls suck and the game has nothing to do with the movie and it just a PIECE OF S*IT!
that's nothing compared to the gameboy version of the game.
