Synopsis:Jonas Taylor leads a research team on an exploratory dive into the deepest depths of the ocean. Their voyage spirals into chaos when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival. Pitted against colossal, prehistoric sharks and relentless environmental plunderers, they must outrun, outsmart and outswim their merciless predators.
I actually really liked this movie because it wasn’t to serious, and the movie makers knew it wasn’t to serious, so they had fun with it. It was over the top but they leaned into it, which made it much more fun to watch than if they had taken themselves to seriously.
Only thing I didn’t like was them leaving lots of gaps in the story but it was cool tho

Scientists have found hundreds of megalodon teeth in oceans and beaches in multiple countries. Studying them has helped researchers learn more about these extinct animals, like the fact that megalodons likely spent most of their time in shallow waters close to shore.

I liked the first one better, but this was a fun ride. It's like they took The Meg and added elements of Jurassic Park and The Transporter.

0:38 Gonna be a bit of a nerd here but Megalodons didn't actually exist in the Cretaceous period
Exploring space is significantly easier then exploring the deepest part of the ocean, the fact that more humans have set foot on the moon then have been into the Mariana Trench is testament to that. Also, there are a lot more things that can kill you at the bottom of the ocean, no Megalodons though.

Wanna know whats down in the mariana trench? NOTHING, the pressure down there is too much for any big creature. Do you remember that "blobfish" picture that is a deepsea creature pulled on to the surface, its body is literally held together by the water pressure. Megalodon used to live in tropical to subtropical areas, meaning warm water, the water deep down is ice cold, it would have had to evolve into liking cold water to swim down there. If we're thinking about animals that do swim deep down like sperm whales do to hunt giant squids, they don't live down there, they only go down to hunt and these creatures have been around for 20-30 million years. Megalodon who went extinct 2-3 milion years ago would be hunting these creatures because they are one of the biggest food source in the sea. I love the idea of megs still being around but we would know, we would have CONSTANT attacks because they wouldnt have evolved to deep sea creatures because their food source lives out in the open.
If you didn't know the Meg movies are based on the Meg books and according to how the novels play out the next movie will be a megalodon VS a kronosaurs.

actually, while there were fairly big sharks during the Cretaceous Period, like the (highly incorrect yet for some reason still persistent) belief that humans lived with Dinosaurs, Megalodons never lived remotely close to the same time as Dinosaurs, who went Extinct around 66 million years ago, whereas Megalodon is currently known to have first appeared around 20 million years ago, so I find myself scratching my head as to the purpose/general relevance of this opening in regards to the rest of the movie
