I have been quilting since 1990. I watch videos all the time, there’s always something to learn and the lazy method is one that I will use in the future. This is the BEST quilting video I have ever seen. You complete all steps in the block which most videos don’t show. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to checking out your other videos. Keep em’ coming!
The saying is, if you want the most efficient way to do something, ask a lazy person how to do it! No, I am NOT saying you are lazy! But that is how genius is often perceived! Your efficient methods allow you more time to create more quilts. It's just simple logic, which isn't really that simple! Congratulations on so many wonderful quilts! 🎉
I can’t express how much I appreciate you walking us through each step in detail :) not only with each pin wheel corner but the different rulers as well. Being a beginner I need the extra reassurance and guidance 😆
Love this block and the shortcut trimming. As this works with charmsquares as well and I happen to have several identical packs...you find me in my sewing room.
Hi ther, its Tricia & my hubby i(n the photo) Your are a Born Teacher.!!!Thankfully I,ve found you. You are consise & to the point (which i love). I love how you showed us Both ways so that we can choose, when the Need arises. Yes I love the 'cheater way' with less trimming. You are a great asset to the quilting comm. Agreat big thank you!!
I was looking for a good baby quilt design and this fits perfectly. This is a great method for making pinwheel blocks starting with a layer cake. It looks complex yet is simple to do. Thank you for your time and efforts!
I must say this is a fabulous way to save time and my quilter's brain is thinking why not square up only once. You see, I've been sewing HST since 1993 and it doesn't matter the technique I use I ALWAYS must trim. Well then, this is for me. I thank you. BTW I just received a new French General 10" pack yesterday, I'm going to go cut it up. Oh another thing about this method, in Moda precuts I take time to trim the squares so I don't have to jack with my sa. This method; who cares if the 10" is in or out of the peak.... YES!!!!!
Just found this video, watched it and thought this is ingenious. Grateful for all exquisite explaining of the smallest detail. Most people don't explain much. Very thankful.
Excellent lazy/cheat idea! As long as those outer points are 1/4” from the raw edge, why not use this time saving method? It still produces an accurate block but in less time. Who wouldn’t love this? Thanks for sharing 🤩
Thank you for this video. I love that this is also charm square friendly. I like to collect fabrics of the same theme. I have 1930s style and flower print fabrics. They are from different designers and companies but go well together. Sometimes I'll buy 4 charm packs instead of the layer cake of the same pattern. That way half of the cutting is done. This pattern will be great for my stash. Thanks again for the video.
This is the best method I've seen for making this block! I love your cheater method!! I'm sharing this video in two of my fb quilt groups bc I know the ladies will love it. Thank you so much for all you do to share creative patterns & expand our possibilities! Many Blessings from Deborah in West Virginia!
@@MoonkinStitchery , Hello, I was curious what do you recommend on quilting stitch design for pinwheel quilts?? I am making one for great grandbaby in pinks ,grays and eggshell colors.I am going to applique some baby bats on it too in grays.
Ooo! I just realized that I have 2 packs of metallic cork type style of charm squares. I'm sure that I can find another 2 packs of something else that'll work well. I'm going to try this tonight. At least the cutting of it LoL. Sewing will be another day.
Hi there! I have been looking for this pattern on your website and can’t seem to find it? I’m wondering if im just missing it. I’d love to make this one! I made “no time wasted” as my first ever quilting project and LOVED it. Thanks for what you do. 🤍

This is such a great video! Great idea about the "lazy" method! Thank you!
What a great idea! Love the idea of trimming once. It also seems like less room for error in quilt block size.❤

I don't like to square up either. So to do it once is a plus. I like this pinwheel block

Amazing! I love this way of doing these 🥰
Ahhhhh..... I'm not the only one who makes my dog quilts. This one is going to try me but I'm going to do it.
I love the cheater method and your explanations were perfect
I love pinwheels! Such a happy block! I am new to quilting and don’t look forward to squaring up blocks. I’ll give this method a try! Thank you.

Love this method.
Love the lazy way. Rename it the efficient way.
Very well done indeed. I have subscribed!
Love this!
Absolute epitome of "trust the process".
Lol 🤣 yes!
Love it!
Good Demonstration
Love the cheater block method! I am not fond of doing 1/4” trimming. I mess them up quite often. Haha
Yes! I rather trim all at once then during every single step. Lol
Love this!! But I can't find the pattern. Do I just write it down? Thak You!!!
Where do I find a printable copy of the pattern for this quilt
Do you happen to remember the name of this layer cake collection? I didn’t see it at Fat Quarter Shop. Thanks.
This layer cake is sadly like 8 years old. It was hidden in my stash. 😔 Lol sorry!
Is there supposed to be a free pattern. If so, I can’t find it. Thanks. I really like this method.
This pattern is just available in a video form for free.
Lazy way is less work & less confusing for me.
My inner quilter is saying NO WAY I do all those bias seams.
Yes, bias can be a pain in the butt lol 🤣
Wow thanks for the cheater pinwheel block. I don’t know how many times I have unpicked blocks to get my points ❤
Is the pattern still available?
💙👏👏👏
Is there a free PDF for this pattern?
Let's not call it cheating, that's not a nice word. It's a great short cut! Efficient!
Cheater method for the win!
There is no right or wrong way, just different
Perfectly said! ❤️
