- On March 19, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Medical Program Manager for Afghanistan, Peru, Haiti and Palestine Amber Alayyan delivered a powerful statement during a press conference at the United Nations. She addressed the harsh realities our staff and patients have endured in #Gaza since October - and the overwhelming medical, mental health, and humanitarian needs they’re facing today.
“You have doctors faced with horrific decisions of having to intubate and amputate children and adults without anesthetics in emergency rooms…No hospital in the world, high income, low income could cope with the amount of injuries that we're seeing and the needs that we're seeing on the ground.”

The entire healthcare system in the United States needs to be scrutinized.
The biggest thing we worry about is privacy and Medicare fraud, and over there it’s just the basics.
How healthcare is purchased, and where all that overflow goes, needs to be unders scrutiny
Their entire purchasing and support system needs help.
In the United States, we have so much. And over there they have so little.
We pay more than any other country in the world combined, and look what we get ?
Healthcare, and how we pay for healthcare, needs to be reformed.
Doctors need to be in control. Not insurance companies.
Right now. All the insurance companies are in control. And what they pay for is way overpriced. Anytime a doctor orders, a bag of saline, the price is insane, but it’s what we have for our system.
Over there, they don’t have insurance companies like Aetna or Blue Cross and Blue Shield .
It’s just the State.
