This is like what a push press is to a overhead press
Nice analogy
LOL! But you are right!
Thank you for making this video 3 minutes and 28 seconds long. Can't tell you how many times I've seen a "tutorial" for a lift that's 12 minutes long. For ONE LIFT?? Thank you for getting us right to the good stuff!
Mark rippetoe made like a 12 minute video for a barbell shrug... A shrug
@@jakehanson216 Hahahaha… ridiculous
I think they do that for extra ad revenue
this guy lifting in jeans is the most alpha thing i have seen today.
this month*
They’re stretchy jeans. Rogan wears them and they’re soft as sport pants so you can work out in them. The overalls idk how he doesn’t pop something out of place with that shit cuz if I wear jeans with a belt and squat and everything gets pumped up you get caught up in certain ranges of motions or you juice and don’t get injured and that’s how he’s able to do it idk. There are some just genetic freaks out there too. Fuck those guys lol
Dr. Deadlift is a legend! Cheers to a speedy recovery for Ms. Nala
I’m glad you did a separate video on this. I am doing RPM2 and I saw deadlift rows and had to scroll through your older video on various row variations to figure it out.
You're the only dude on UA-cam who can explain and perform a lift in under 5 minutes.
Everyone else has no less than 2.5 hours worth of sponsors and other useless BS.
Solid work BA!
Awesome movement, one of my favorites. Took a minute to get the groove right on it. But once that happened. Great video, God speed with your classes and health.
Had a coach show me this movement a few years ago and fell in love. Good luck with the pup and school, man. I know that grind. It will pay off!
Great tutorial brother! I do these just like you said but midweek as part of a HIIT routine and they are awesome. Keep hitting those books!
Brian, just wanted to say you’re the man. I’m in week 5 of RPM and feeling great! 👍🏻
I’ve been doing this for a while know thinking I was doing Pendlay rows. I love them! The more you know.
Props on the focus even when hitting those rings.
Got these lined up for the next RPM v2 workout so this video couldn't have been timed better. Thanks!
Hey good luck on those courses dude!
I've been doing these for a couple years now and it has really helped with explosiveness off the floor on deadlifts!
Love this one. The deadlift row has been a staple in my training for a while now and the direct benefit to my deadlift and strict barbell row cannot be overstated. I keep my weights where I can do 5+ reps and only rely on the hook grip. I am in need of a new sport coat for a big event later this spring and had to resort to a custom-made garment because there is really nothing off the rack that will fit me well 👍. Not too many 54L suit coats available. 😂 Love all your content, Brian. Thank you for all the effort you put into it. All the best on your classes and to your family.
looks fun cant wait to try it
You are an inspiration...I'm 67yo, train hard and smart and never felt better.
Thank you so much!
Love all rows ✨🚀
I'm putting on my "Be Dangerous" shirt & doing these right now!
Thanks
What an interesting exercise! It's definitely going into my repertoire of deadlift assistance moves. Thank you for this tutorial and best of luck with your master's coursework.
Im gonna give this one a try for sure.
It's an amazing lift, I've done it in the past and I actually just did it for the first time in a while last week.
The best row imo
I love your videos and approach on lifting. Running the 45 Masters program right now, (salute to us old men) and having a lot of fun with it. I just got accepted into a firefighter/EMT program so it made me think about training specifically toward that. A program for firefighters and/or law enforcement would be awesome to see!
Good luck with school dude!
Brian bringing the hot fire out. Definitely use it on my press/bench work as a finisher. That and your row complex for way back in the day.
Which video was the complex explained in?
@@FirstHeroChased that I don't remember. It's been years. The complex is 5 pendalay rows + 5 bent over rows + 5 deadlift rows without stopping. It's a tough one. Generally I do 3 rounds and my back is fried. I will switch it between a power bar and my Elite FTS cambered football bar as it's the same but different stimulus.
awesome exercise!!! Ive tried it yesterday and my back and traps are super sore today!
These are great. The back gets big quick.
Tried it today, felt great (:
Great video!! Good luck with your dog. Not a dog owner but I am a dog lover.
Lookin good and strong!
I'm loving the suspenders Brian! 😆
Hey don't worry about the videos, just keep up the good work and take care of the doggo!
Based jeans and suspenders combo. Strong lifts!
it reminds me of a push press for overhead
This lift would be even better if performed from a deficit!
I also do launch cheat barbell curls off a rack pull height rack.
Brian you'd do me a favor if you can do or redo best techniques for floor press. Which is better dumbbells or barbell for the floor press? How to stress the exercise on the chest.
Good luck in school and hopefully the vet gets the dog sorted out.
I've been doing something similar lately that I've been calling a dead row. Deadlift to lockout, then on the way back down as you get the bar just below your knees, stop and row to your chest, then set it down and start your next rep.
Can't go too heavy on it but I feel it all up my back.
Idk if you still plan on doing a scaled mass builder program, but that would be great!
The cardio from these is amazing too. These things suuuuK but the results are worth the post-sets nausea..
I was thinking about this, but with hexbar and from deficit, would be nice as strength exercise for rowers
English Rows are great, like Kroc rows
Hope Nala is well.
Great lift!
Definitely different from a pendlay row.
Would you consider this a good exercise to attack if you suffer from a spinal flexion intolerance?
Hey comment section or Brian:
I'm having some problems with low back and hip connectivity, any recommendations for stretches or ways to safely train to improve that?
Thanks for all you upload man, haven't seen ya in two weeks or so , hope all is well :)
What about using it as an explosive movement before front squat? Is this movement worth doing with a trap bar as a variation?
Sort of a high pull. Doug Hepburn did these.
I think this is pretty much how my Pendlay rows end up anyway, so I think I might just start doing it intentionally!
Is there any other way to row? I wish Nala a speedy recovery.
Hey Brian, this is probably not the question you'd be expecting, but where is your henley shirt from? 😅
Literally after years of not doing so, I just started doing pendlays again and then this video pops up
I always get tension headaches after doing this kind of row. Any suggestions? Thank you
Funny, I did these years ago intuitively. Obviously I’m no champion like the ones that used this lift but it did get my back hella strong that’s for sure
BIG CLAP!
I like to slightly pause right at the shins, then start the upward motion from there so I am not relying on the momentum from the ground.
I love these, they feel great. ua-cam.com/users/shortsQva_8VXaBlo
Can we see a video of you just chillin in a chair for 5 mins and relaxing.
Poor rings... X)
Good luck with exams
I have gotten so much sh*t for doing these the last few years by strict row obsessed lifters. I love em though
Bro.. is that 315lbs+?
I'm pretty sure those are 55lb bumper plates, so it's likely 375.
@@joenadeau9616 you’re probably right. That’s amazing. I can only hit a single with 315lbs but pendlay row.
First
Aren't these pendley rows?
Edit: I apologize sir
Edit 2x: not Nala :(
335lbs ?
