I used both. I am a messy designer: I put stuffs everywhere. Therefore, having the handoff at the same place I design makes it hard for developers. I would add that Zeplin helps me to change my mindset between "messy" and "organized". :D That said, if you are working on small projects (such as, 10 pages website or app), it could be overkill.
This is so informative. Thank you! We used to use Zeplin + Sketch, then moved all in on Figma. Now handoff is getting messy with a bigger team. We gave dev mode a try, but it doesn't really solve our problems...and now we're revisiting Zeplin.
This is great! Thank you for thoroughly analyzing these. Re-sharing this with my team now. One small bit of feedback: I thought the background music was a bit distracting and loud at the beginning and end.
Fantastic info! I was team Figma for everything, but since they charge you for learning the tool, I'm learning Zeplin to start with something and get ready whenever I needed. Super useful. I think Zeplin has a lot of very well integrated tools (I've just found out) with Figma and Slack, and the possibility of making changes and have them organized like in GIT, is super useful for not making mistakes while continuing with the process. I'm team Zeplin now for handoff. Many thanks!
Very helpful info. I mainly use Figma, but had a little muck about with Zeplin a while ago. I'm still not sure which would fit our very small and very green dev team. It probably doesn't help that we don't use Figma as fully as we could. Pretty hard when the team work not just dev roles I guess.
The one thing that makes Zeplin a pain in the ass is the lack of clarity of when a screen was uploaded and the sometimes very long time it takes to export a frame.
Have you tried both tools? What did you think?

@@aurelienoreo I don't think you're alone in being a messy designer :)
@@uxtools haha yeah I guess I am not 😅
@@aurelienoreo @uxtools why is that? I tried to organize myself too, but sometimes is quite impossible. 😆

Glad to hear that!

Appreciate the feedback!
This video was super helpful to watch. I haven't used Dev Mode quite yet but have used Zeplin in the past. Great content!

Definitey some things to take into consideration
Great video!! 👍🏼But one question - When is your 'Field Guide for Colors' package coming out. I feel like it's been ages.
Thank you for this breakdown and comparison!
You got it Ethan!
really helpful content buddy, subscribed ❤️
Thank you so much for this.
You are so welcome!

Hopefully Zeplin will read this and take your feedback into consideration :)
When a screen has been uploaded from the designers perspective or from the devs perspective?
Try looking at the camera and not yourself next time :) Great video and super useful tho :)
