Luffy, who has near complete mastery of the fruit still has to deal with the major drawbacks, there was no way Bonney was going to be in G5 for a long time, plus she hasn’t shown the 3 advanced forms of haki. I understand people’s frustration and opinion in the whole Bonney G5 thing, but just trust Oda he’s not gonna fumble, and I think the extremely short G5 limit that Bonney has is actually going to play an important role later on in the story
Even if she could use Gear 5 for a good while, like nearly as long as Luffy. People forget that Luffy in terms of Haki is many times stronger than her. If she fought Kaido right now she’s getting Low Diffed. The Lucci Treatment ASAP no redo. Law and Kidd is beating her too. She’s probably around Lucci’s Current Level or a little less. Strong enough to beat a 2nd Division commander, gets defeated by 1sr Divisions in the long run.

That's because it's bad writing. If he actually has a rubber body then we know what the result SHOULD be. Even if Alvida or Buggy right now were to cut Luffy's thumb, without him blocking with haki, his body should burst. Right now how it's portrayed in the story it's more like pierce attacks are not his weakness, rather it's pretty much the only way to make him vulnerable for damage, other than sea water, or fire (which may not work in the future, since he's the Sun God).

Like I *get* what you're saying but at the same time just imagine that *every* combatant at Onigashima was at a level so far beyond 'being knocked out by conqueror's haki' that it wasn't worth doing. It seems specifically like people with weaker wills are those who succumb to it, so the motivations at play would probably dramatically impact it too just based on how we've seen haki work.

Oda's execution of haki sucks from the point of view of powerscaling and structure of characters. Whenever there is clash, everyone guesses is it normal armament, ryou or is it conqurers coating?? Oda purposely keeps it mysterious for plot reasons but when it is done repeatedly, it feels off.

There's nothing wrong with the system. Oda just isn't consistent with its use Or more accurately doesn't care about its consistency as long as the story is flowing nicely.
For ex- In the recent Luffy vs Kizaru fight in the first half, Kizaru kicks away a G4 Luffy from a mile away which Luffy could have and should have just dodged normally, BUT! He was blinded by light! "Blinded!" Which is odd given Luffy not only has top tier Obs Haki, but also One of the only few individuals that has mastered Adv. Obs Haki "Future SIght!" So Blindness shouldn't be a problem to begin with, so there Haki became inconsistent to serve the plot. Hope you understand.✌

Because these Samurai are the very people that Kaido couldn't break, that their wills were strong enough that they refused to yield for 20 long years.
That's why Kaido and Big Mom didn't just knock them all out, it would've been pointless against those Samurai.
I like to think that Franky unlocked it in that moment because he needed that greater impact, his captain told him to give it everything he got which is why its a new move name. It's not offscreen, that's the moment, he might not even realize he used it.

The reason Luffy was able to knock out fifty thousand men in Fishmen Island was simply because Luffy was on a completely different level than the grunts, which don't even compare to the level of strength the samurai possess. Both Kaido and Big Mom probably wouldn't be able to since the samurai do have strong wills, are more skilled, and honestly the better fighters than the fishmen.

mad respect to someone who recognizes haki is a very off the cuff system that was in no way designed from the start of the series. People act like oda planned everything out since the 90's, but haki to me, represents him realizing that devil fruits are too strong and that there needed to be a counter....

he is not above destroying the integrity of his own work if he thinks it will be fun to see. This doesnt affect me per se but it does dishearten me. because if you told me haki was an invincible shield that allowed kaido to never die because his form of conquerer's haki was so rare that no one in the marines had it...I'd simply laugh at myself 7 or 8 years ago.

I always saw Haki and evil fruits as one big powe system based on the duality on the mind/spirit and body.
The haki is untangible like the spirit. That's why it's softer side of the magic system.
Isn’t it stated that using conqueror’s Haki to knock out an army is very tiring. So after using it you’ll still have to fight people who were not knocked out. So it’s better to have an army and conserve your Haki because you’ll still need to fight the major combatants.
Luffy can't convert Zoro's slash into power like Luffy did to Sanji, bonney, and Franky. Zoro is literally an only pierce character with very high strength, and haki. He's cutting him, whereas Sanji with help can only push Luffy back. Luffy is also weak against pierce attacks, so Zoro would indeed cut Luffy there, if he tried that same move. Franky, Sanji, and Bonney, all did a punch or kick which is pure knockback and no pierce. In conclusion, I get absorbing a blow from knockback moves, but telling us he would do that to Zoro's pierce move too, tells me you are heavily downplaying Zoro, you don't know the significant difference between pierce and knockback, and you haven't been paying attention to Luffy's main weakness throughout the entire story (getting hit by pierce attacks). And FYI Kaido never directly hit luffy with his pierce move dragon twister, while luffy is standing there and taking it. The attack Kaido used repeatedly scraped Luffy while passing by him while he was in the clouds. Not through Luffy.
The problem with your argument is, you forget luffy’s haki is greater than zoro’s. In order for zoro to even cut through lufft, he will need to surpass luffy’s haki. So the answer is, no, king is correct and zoro can also do a knockback, all luffy had to do is protect his back with haki.

Look at their final clash, king kong gun vs doffy’s massive strings with haki on its tips, it was only able to puncture a bit of luffy’s skin when they were in contact. G5 luffy is covered in AcoA and AcoC according to kaido, which are the strongest forms of haki. In order to severely hurt luffy with his swords, zoro has to apply haki greater than luffy’s. It’s that plain and simple. Luffy didnt get burn sanji’s fire despite being rubber for a reason, because of a simple reason; haki. Luffy’s slashing and piercing weaknesses means nothing now because of the fact that he is more than just a rubberman, he is nika the sun god, a mythical zoan lmao. He has all the passive abilities of an awakened zoan and god, which are durability and regeneration. Luffy’s g5 form durability is on the level if not better than kaido’s due to the fact that all of the mythical zoan benefits plus him being engulfed with coc and advance coa haki made him tougher.
@King-2077 Why are you using Doffy as an example of great Armament when his Harden-coated hand broke skin by simply holding Law's non-coated sword? The reason Doffy didn't cut through Luffy was because: 1: Strings have never shown to be anywhere near as lethal nor durable as ranked blades, and 2: His Armament is complete ass. He has no impressive feats in that regard. Honestly, he wasn't that strong given that Cracker, facing a stronger Luffy, was able to cut through G4 Luffy easily. Comparing Zoro's Armament, who was able to scar Kaido before gaining AdCoC to Doffy's weak sauce Haki is a sin in my eyes.

16:31 my response-chapter 1047 kaido first uses his kanabo which is a blunt attack all it does is push luffy arm around. This in effect is what happens this chapter with the combo attack. Then kaido attacks luffy with the wind sythe and says you still have a weakness to cutting attacks I presume which is proven true. You can not say that zoro going all out and using ashura would not cut or hurt luffy. The only way it would not is if zoro did not want to cut luffy and therefore it turns to a blunt attack

The way I see Bonney Gear 5 is basically Gear 5, but she cannot effect the environment or other people, she cannot do even close to as uch as Luffy can even when just her own body and she loses the form in actual seconds which is how it should be. She changes her future, but it's only temporary and therefore she cannot affect the surrounding or people her abilities can't affect like the Elders. She might be able to kinda do weak people her age abilities are able to affect, but her powers don't affect non living beings like the environment which is why her Nika form can't either. For that like Luffy she would need to awaken the devil fruit and even then I'm very sceptical on how close to actual gear 5 it would be. All we saw is she looks like Gear 5 and can stretch.

I will never understand how so many very vocal people thought for a second that Bonney's Distortion Future could make a perfect copy of Nika with no limits... just based on chapter 1118. It makes no sense, and the evidence was never there. It was just looks and a drum beat. And even without trying to copy Nika, Bonney's Distortion future forms never lasted as long as even already-tired Luffy can last in G5, lol. Talk about distorted futures, people were imagining a possible negative future outcome and then fighting against their own imaginings.

The samurai in Yamato's flashback were PROUD to fearlessly go to their deaths against Kaidou. They absolutely knew he was vastly stronger than them. Kaidou and Big Mom had absolutely no chance of knocking out any samurai with kaki. Come on dude. I am truly baffled as to why people are calling what Bonnie did in chapter 1118 and 1119 as gear 5 or gear 5 lite or some other iteration of the verbage. It's not gear 5 it's a Nika form. Get it right. It's a Nika form. And her ability is very simple. She can age up and down and access futures that she can imagine, perceive or interpret. She copy's Luffy's ability based on what she knows. The things she knows about Nika is the Nika has a strong rubber body. In addition is the form Luffy takes when using his awakening which is his Sun God Nika which for Luffy is gear 5. If you follow the dialogue you realize that Bonnie used the Nika form used by Luffy only after she recalled what Luffy said at the beginning of the arc when Luffy says that the Nika form is him when he is most free. So her using the form makes sense what she can do in that form is limited to her perception and interpretation and knowledge. The other thing is that because distorted future is not a guarantee future it cannot be maintained for long periods and because she is 12 it eats at her stamina. It's not explicitly stated anywhere but I do believe Bonnie is awakened. Remember her ability was inherited from her mother through genetic manipulation and it's possible that an awakening may be a natural progression of her powers through constant use. The awakening idea is a stretch but my other reasoning is sound

Eh. Luffy solos his crew if he can sustain G5 for long enough. Zoro and Sanji are beyond commander level at this point and are a level where they can 1 v 1 Gorosei members. Probably only Beckmann is stronger among commanders. Then you have Jinbei who’s also that tier and the middle trio that are beating 400 million bounty tiers and 1 shotting Vice Admirals. Even Chopper in guard point is at the point where he can block Big Mom and Saturn and not take damage. I feel like bonnies haki use is connected directly to the transformation. when luffy first transformed there was haki lightning everywhere and there is also a line from kaido where he says that luffy is constantly emitting conquerers while in this form. I think you NEED to have haki to even be able to enter the sun god form. so in a future where bonny is joyboy she also has to have haki at least, if not conquerers haki. and I don't think she has haki in her base form but who knows maybe oda will prove me wrong. but it makes total sense to me that she has haki when she transforms into nika because nika is basically some kind of haki-being
I’m genuinely confused if kol remembers fairy tail as well as he thinks he does. To my recollection there are no canonical users of taboo magic in fairy tail. There are confirmed users of forbidden magic. But all taboo magic is it is essentially cursed speech. If this scenario were to happen where erza were to have an armor resistant to it it would be no different that her fire elemental resistant armor. An armor that resists a specific type of magic. Not to mention we have seen she has spent small fortunes on getting rare and ancient armors to add to her collection. I’m genuinely curious where kol was going with this. Im just waiting for luffy to eat the mother flame to get rid of his weakness and buff his fire based powers. See this is what happens when y'all focus too much on lore and power systems then get shocked why the character can unlock some stuff that is hard to obtain in our perspective. Focusing on lore and power systems is not a bad thing but be aware when a situation like Bonney comes up.
As far as zoro, we’ve seen him master techniques in real time. i say zoro instantly understood the technique thanks to his massive battle IQ.

Bonney can't sustain the G5 form because like Kaido said, it burns Haki like a mofo, and she has a very small tank, also distorted future taxes her body too, it's just too much for her now, but I repeat, distorted future HAS to be an awakened ability of her fruit, I just want her to develop an original fighting style, way back when the supernovas were announced I imagined her as a grappler like Julia from 'Rave".
DF explanations aside, how does Bonney become a haki user out of nowhere. It makes sense for her to have it seeing as how all the worst generation uses haki now except her, but why not use it before on the marines or Ethan. Oda got some splaining to do. This could also be that haki manifested from her being in a totally free state. I'm with you KOL on not excepting Bonney as a full on Nika, but if she becomes a haki user as a result of the transformation I'm cool with that.
