tbx was the last "reissue" that used top notch control panel, knobs, and attention to detail. it's a beauty. the control panel has that nice deep shiny copper top really reminiscent to the JMIs. knobs were true grub screw-on bulgin-type. all reissues afterwards used cheap press on knobs. even the lamps/light bulbs were tops... the later/currently available models really show where the company is "cutting corners".
What about the AC30S1 ? Is it reliable? Is it as good as the AC30C2 in terms of reliability? Thanks !!! I love your videos. Very informative and well done. Do you have a video on the AC30S?
AC30S1 has a FET gain stage, which will give it less headroom aside from having the single speaker. You'd probably get a fuller sound out of an AV60. You'd save a boat load of cash, too.
Helpful dude - check. Great amp info - check. Presented in a very useful, non-BS manner - check. Now all I need is a bowl of popcorn ;-) These are my kind of documentary. Excellent.
There are so mant different versions, possibly more than you'll see in The US. Early 70's through to Korg in The mid 90's. Vox Showroom suggests avoiding The mid 80's Rose Morris amps, but before that, there were still quite a few hand wired versions available. You occasionally see them on eBay UK for much less than a 60's original.
Do you have any recommendations for any boutique production amps that do the ac30 thing well without the need to do any mods or have any glaring qc issues? I recognize that might be a tall order but I’m about 4 hours away from the nearest amp tech!
By over filtered, do you mean the power supply cap values are too high, or that the voicing/tone filters are overdone? If the power supply is the answer, by that do you mean that the power supply is too stiff as compared to a vintage ac30, or are there other issues with having a stiffer power supply?
Great video, what tube brand do you recommend for the vox AC30cc2x with blues speakers?I'm a big fan of the edge sound, so what mods to you recommend for that particular amp. Many thanks.
These are very insightful video’s. I wonder what your opinion is on the Dallas Vox. It’s HW, according to JMI circuit I believe, and does without tube rectifier.
The heritage sounds great love it. Some were bad mine runs like a champ.
CC was the best series in recent years.
welp, this series is a birthday gift i didn't expect! really looking forward to the videos on each of the specific models! thank you!
Pure gold.
Thank you so much for these!

Yes please and thank you. Single speaker AC30S1 any good?

Ever run across a Vox AC30S1 ONETWELVE?
Yeah, I'd like to hear Lyle's take on that amp too.

Yes that’s what he means and ladder topology vs tree branch

Have you ever considered replicas, such as Laney's vc15/30?
I´m wondering if a 1975 Dallas Arbiter tag board version is comparable to a 60's JMI?
They're good amps but there are enough differences that they are a different flavor.
@@PsionicAudio Thanks! I’m guessing they are a little stiffer and louder?

The HW models are great. The later PCB version has issues.
have you ever gotten any of the black tolex HW 60th anniversary amps in for inspection? I'm curious to know if you have an opinion?
Not yet.
What's your (or anyone's) opinion on the AC15HW60?
Too much gain? Sounds like the Vox for me. 😁
what do you mean "over filtered"? power supply filtered or?
Power supply would be my guess, resulting in less compression from power supply sag.
Will the “REAL” AC30 please step forward !!!
Vox are British and British amps are soldered, not soddered.
Aside from the TBX, these Korgs are all Chinese amps.
@@jonathanwapner6262 Chinese amps are solred.
