I can't listen to this song without crying because Alzheimer's took my aunt last year, and I think it's the most insidious disease one can suffer from because it kills you while you're still alive. My aunt's body went on for another ten years before passing, but, it was just a husk of flesh by then and I wasn't as sad at her funeral as I was relieved to see her finally free and at peace. My grieving happened years earlier when I accepted that myself and everyone of my generation and younger in my family didn't exist in her mind anymore. Heck, she had also forgotten that my mother and my maternal uncles had even started families. She thought I was my uncle Richie as a young man (the resemblance is strong). It's just pure agony to watch and the disease ravaged her to a point where I couldn't bear visiting her in the home anymore because she spoke so quietly that I couldn't understand her anymore, her cognition was gone, etc.

I know how you feel mate...! When i realized what this song was about it hit me so hard...!
Lost my grandmother to dementia, it was such a challenge for the whole family. I was really glad when this nightmare ended for her when she had almost forgotten everything. She was at peace in the end...

Thanks for feeling comfortable enough to tell your connection with the horrors of this affliction. There truly is as horror story of affliction -> “remedy” -> its impact on others. More power to you for being open to tell your story of how this song impacts you

Lost my grandmother and she was suffering badly from alzheimers on the way out, was so tough seeing her in that state but I couldn't imagine what she was going through. Some days she knew who I was when I went to visit, others, it was if I was a stranger to her. Sad that she's gone but I just hope she's in a better place now, and she isn't bed ridden forgetting her memories... last thing she told me was that she loved me and for me to not remember her like she was in her last days. Love you Grandma.. see ya again someday. This song reminds me of her so much, took on a whole new meaning since its release.

I've tinkered with Spiritbox, but this song really grabbed me when they released it. Along with the video, a beautiful piece of art that brilliantly captures what a lot of families sadly have to deal with.

I have always wondered if the stress of losing memory from Alzheimer’s or dementia perpetuates the disease. When the grandma starts shaking because she can’t remember her own past makes me think that does happen.

My grandfather passed away last year and now my family cares for my grandmother with alzheimer's.
The ending of this video is incredibly striking to me for that reason...

Whenever you listen to this song and it ends there’s a small moment afterwards where there’s just a deafening silence and you just sit there collecting yourself for a few seconds because it’s so moving and so mentally heavy. It’s just a few short seconds but they’re an impactful few seconds where you are just blank and then you sorta reboot and are like “woah, that just happened” and that’s how you know this song is a masterpiece. It isn’t your typical sad/depressing themed song. It literally makes you feel helpless for a few moments.

Alzheimer's sucks on so many levels.
It's rough losing the bond with someone you've had your whole life, but you have to learn to live in the good moments.
If you're lucky enough now and you can still sit and talk with your loved one, indulge when you can. The longer you're away, the more pieces you lose.
    This song is wonderful.

The horrors that we face as family members has to pale compared to the victim of Alzheimer's.... I break down and ugly cry because both of my grandmothers suffered this unholy disease.
And I'm terrified of losing my mom this way...and even facing this living nightmare myself.

I haven't felt this way about hearing a band for the first time since how I felt hearing Deftones for the first time. The ethereal sounds and the syrupy-smooth vocals that melt words into syllables that are broken down in different ways much like Chino does... I love it.

My grandmother has dementia which has now progressed to alzheimer's. Within the past year her condition has progressed to a point to where she is hallucinating, but at the same time she logically knows what she is seeing is not actually real. For example, she's been seeing her deceased parents, seeing "multiples" of my grandfather, her house is not her house (it's "this building") and is now seeing "some man" who is trying to "act like the rest of us" but something is not right about him.
Last week, her and my grandfather woke up and had breakfast, and after breakfast she put her shoes on and walked out the front door. My grandfather followed her and asked her what she was doing, to which she replied "I'm going to the neighbors across the street so that they can take me back to my house." Mind you, everyone's house in the neighborhood they live in sits on top of an incline (street sits lower than all of the houses). Because of this, my grandfather was kindly telling her that her walking -- because she shuffles, she doesn't pick her feet up and she's currently outside without a walker -- that it's not safe for her to walk across the street. He goes to put his hand on her shoulder to guide her back to the house, but she starts screaming at the top of her lungs, punches him in the chin and is cursing -- things she has *never* done. The neighbor across the street comes outside to see what the commotion is about because according to him my grandmother sounded like a little child screaming. When he realized what was going on, he was trying to help my grandfather get her back inside. A car turns onto the street, to which my grandmother started screaming at the car to get them to help her because "[my grandfather] is violently beating [her] and won't let [her] go". I'm tearing up just writing this...
After all was said and done, she realized what she had done and just broke down. I hate this disease.
