Well Sam.. Maybe you can clear something else up. It’s being said that a rose gold sticker is on the packaging that says that it’s made in Italy. What is being alleged is that when you peel that sticker off, it says that it is made in the US. Do you have a sticker like that on yours?

I totally agree. I know some people said it’s different because she owns a brand now. But, I don’t feel that way. I can understand why people feel that way. BUT, it depends on the person. If the person is someone that you have always trusted, then I don’t see why that changes when they own a brand. Now, IF the person is saying things they dislike about a product, and then uses their own product to compare it or just to plug their products, THEN I would say ya, it’s pretty and messed up. But if the person is a reviewer and always has been and has always been someone that spoke their mind good and bad, then I don’t see why that should change just because they own a brand.

I think it’s deliberate. It has the raised detail on the top so nothing can be put on top of it, therefore, first thing you grab for in your pile of blush/bronzers. I don’t think she assumed people would buy multiples so she didn’t need to consider stacking multiples of her product. It’s designed to stand independently...also probably the reason it’s so chonky. My theory anyway!

something that confuses me about Jaclyn Cosmetics is I feel like they really don't have a brand identity, mission statement or any kind of marketing that tells us who the brand is for. with so many brands out there I really have no idea what makes this brand special or sets them apart. why bronzers and blushes? why a duo? are these for working girls on the go who need the simplicity of two products on one? we have no idea because neither jaclyn nor her team have told us. despite all her personal drama I think that's what really lacks with her products so far theres just no overall cohesion or thought put into the brand as a whole.
Yes absolutely. When she makes like launch videos and stuff it seems like she focuses a lot on herself and then like how the product performs and not actually about why she chose certain formulas/packaging/colors. It’s kind of odd that there’s never anything saying like why a product was developed. Like what hole is this trying to fill?

I think that when a light skin person can use 4-5 shades and a POC can use 1 or 2 at most, we have a problem.

I think a lot of it is very emotional. I’ve been watching her for almost 10 years and so I obviously am biased. Has she messed up, undoubtedly yes. However, the amount of bullying and bashing she gets is by far the worst I’ve ever seen. Does she deserve criticism, for sure but she doesn’t deserve a lot of the hatred and vitriol she gets. It’s really bizarre honestly how mean and toxic people are on the internet. Including some of her fans.
Jaclyn is the one who got me into watching makeup tutorials. Yes I have learned a ton from her but I've also learned a ton from any other UA-camrs because I started watching Jaclyn 6ish? years ago.. which led me to many others!! Especially Kristy and Sam!

@@bananamary5907 I sympathize with her. I like her personality and I believe she has a good heart. Have I bought the blushes no, but I’ve bought her other stuff and it is some of my most used makeup. I believe everyone messes up and she has apologized many times for her mistakes. I think not letting people try to atone for their mistakes is a bad way to live but I get why others are fed up.
@@laurel1018 From what I can gather, most people don't trust her (despite apologies) because she said the lipsticks were because of gloves that any decent lab would never use, and because she never said what really happened (or if she truly didn't know she didn't own up to not knowing). I never watched her or any bigger controversial youtubers. I was lucky to find Emily Noel and some awesome smaller creators. So no feeling on Jaclyn either way. From someone who isn't a fan or hater, its just another brand in the sea of brands overflowing. If something unique comes out I may try it. For now, I have enough of what she's releasing.

Sam held that up and I was like that’s really the deepest shade??? That’s going to bronze someone with a medium skin tone. Maybeee the deeper end of medium if they like bronzer that’s just a couple shades darker than their skin tone. I just don’t get brands like that. Like why spend the money creating 7 formulas when they’re all so close together?

Yes! It’s always so so weird to me when a brand comes out with a fairly large face product launch but all the colors are super colors and (usually) very light. Like you spent all that money on all these different formulas already. Why wouldn’t you want to put that money equally across the spectrum? That way more people could actually buy your product. With these super light ranges it’s alienating so many people who the brand could potentially be making money off of. It just doesn’t make sense from an optics or a money standpoint honestly.

Because of how thorough she is with her thoughts she's the only person I actually love hearing about her favorite products from. It's nice to have something to ho off of other than "it's just really nice" and have very specifics to know if that's what I'm looking for in a product

She said it was a liquid not a cream so maybe she’s going to be releasing creams that are specifically highlights?? Since Glow Lust is a multi use product and is more sheer, maybe she’s making a cream that’s more intense. Or maybe it’s just another cream highlighter from a brand and I need to take my tinfoil hat off lol

I think it's a climate thing? I am combination skin but live in Florida. Like I have to matify my eyes because my eye makeup will melt off but my cheeks and under eyes are dry. But when I lived in Wyoming I was sooooo dry all the time everywhere.
Same, i have dry skin in "normal" climate but summers in Mississippi make it look like i'm pouring cooking oil on my face hourly.

Although I personally don't like the packaging either, I feel like it would be pretty convenient for blind people and people who struggle with sight. I watched a video on yt of a blind girl explaining how often raised, or different textured packaging helps her find her stuff easier. It's really interesting actually, something to think about 😄
Recessed stuff on packaging gives the same convenience to visually challenged people. It still stays easy to stack. As long its tangible in any form.
Def recommend Molly Burke’s channel overall. Been watching her for years she’s quite impressive. She is a blind girl who even learned to ski and became a climbing instructor as a teen.

Regarding Samantha's vs. Jaclyn's dryness, I think it's important to remember they live in different climates. My skin would react very differently in Tampa (Jaclyn), then it would in Vancouver (Samantha); so it does make sense that you each have dry skin that reacts a bit differently. By the way, if you've never seen Vancouver, put it on your must see list - especially Tofino! ❤

Yes, I got her blush and bronze duo in 'warm flush and golden goddess,' her highlight in 'iced,' and her luminous powder in 'dew me.' I am dry, like you. And I LOVE it all! I love that her blush and bronzer are buildable. I think Jaclyn did an excellent job!! I am hoping she brings her original nude lipstick colors back in a liquid lip formula!! I prefer liquid lips to lipsticks because of their staying power.

Im confused why there is no medium range, the bronzers are way too light for me and the next one up (hot coco) is red bronzer :( The blushes work for me but they all are similar lol
it’s also confusing because jaclyn used to talk so much about her time working at mac. as a current MUA myself, I would never create a line or products that didn’t have options for all my customers? sam’s variety in her products is a great representation of someone who has worked in the industry and has all clients in mind. jaclyn’s choices are just strange and it seems like no real thought is put in besides waking up one day and thinking it would be fun to own a make up brand 🤷🏻♀️

Correct me if I am wrong, but don't most medium-dark skinned people constantly complain that most of these type of products are too red for them?? Then she went and made one even more red 🤣. Like wouldn't it have been really easy too figure that out?? I have a neutral light-medium skintone, and I know this from just watching enough tutorials and reviews of people with those type of skintones. I feel that this whole line is so tone deaf to what is going on in the beauty world currently...

As a fan of DRY humor, I appreciate the general awkwardness of this video😂 😂 In light of the expensive Italian formula and extraordinary cost of her prior launches (failures and successes) not terribly surprising her components are heavy duty. Pay a little more upfront in components to avoid replacing product damaged in shipping and all associated expenses (financial /reputational). Wishing you both great success and happiness!

The shiny black packaging is horrendous. The huge J is uninspired. The component is comically large. The lipstick components look very similar to mannys. I dont even care about the quality of the product, if it comes from jaclyn QVC hill i am NOT buying it. All she ever does is promote whatever brings her cash. Thats not my vibe at all.
Uninspired! Yes! That's the word I was looking for the big ass J slapped on every component. Not only does it look supremely gratuitous, it will also be a nightmare to stack anything else on this palate.

Kristi liked the holiday release of the highlighters, those were really different shades. I wouldn’t have bought anything from this brand in 2019 and I won’t be now 😂 I still don’t understand how she got her line into ulta.

Some of the shades of the highlighters are the same that came in the palettes. I know iced and spark$ were in the lighter palette she launched awhile back.
All the highlights are the same shades from holiday except 2 that are new.
Smokey glow did a video on jaclyn and she talked about this. I think her getting into ulta is a combo of her being owned by morphie and that she can afford to pay ulta to be in the store.
Morphe owns her brand so because they're in Ulta, it was probably part of the acquisition deal

I’m literally hollering at the end about you shamelessly wearing her original lipsticks! Same. Mine hit some gritty bits sometimes but for the most part are perfectly fine.
I still wear mine, mine was perfect though it had nothing in it, sad part is it is my favorite lipstick formula ever and I have to use is sparingly. Sucks that release was so horrid I would of bought every shade 😭

Yep, I lived in Tampa, Florida for 20 years and could not, for the life of me, wear creams because they literally slide off your face and I have DRY skin, like you gotta bake, otherwise 5 minutes in the sun and you’re without makeup. And even though my skin is dry the constant humidity made me look oily even with powder products.I live in Ohio now and only wear creams that I don’t set at all and am so dry all the time. Climate matters so much for makeup.

I didn’t like the packaging either. I know some people feel that it’s very luxe, but to me it just seemed a little clunky. I think of packaging I do like and it’s pretty minimal, like Charlotte Tilbury’s eyeshadow quads are perfect to me and Tower28’s cheek products are sleek and simple. To each their own, but the glossy finish wasn’t my favorite, I don’t like that you see fingerprints all over it and I don’t like the raised J. I thought the highlighter palette packaging was even better, but maybe that’s just me and I know most people only care about what’s inside. With there being so many beauty products though, I feel like it’s okay to be nitpicky and care about packaging bc you can afford to.

Non of those duos would work for me. I'm a medium skin tone, literally the middle shade of most foundation ranges. The bronzers in those duos I could use as setting powders and the blushes wouldn't show up on me. The 2 darkest shades are too red and deep for me. I feel like she was trying to be inclusive but didn't consult a BME (poc) makeup artist or a BME person in general. I mean, Sam has 7 shades of her glow lust and literally everyone could find and use a shade regardless of their skin tone and she proved you can make products inclusive with so few shades. Just saying.
I’m medium skin tone and can use basically all the shade except the lightest but the 4 middle shades show up on me and look so pretty.
The minute I saw these I totally agreed and I am not even a POC. Isn't one of the biggest complaints from people with medium to deeper skintones that so many products like this are TOO red? And then she goes and makes one even more red 😱😂. It would have taken so little effort to make these better than they are so they would be truly more inclusive.
@@Dramallamabeauty don't you mean light medium? I'm like a 290 in fenty foundation, 50cg in ud stay naked - literally the middle shades and those wouldn't work for me at all 🙃
@@quintecence I’m considered medium in foundations and all the 4 middle shades work on me. They’re a buildable formula and show well on my skintone.
@@Dramallamabeauty regardless if they work for you, they wouldn't work for me which is still a problem for inclusivity if 2 people in the same skin tone range can't use the product 🤦
I have one of these duos and tbh I really love it. The formula is nice, the shades are great/well-coordinated and have good undertones, and the packaging is cute. I finally bought it now that I can get the points through Ulta. I have her highlight brushes as well, and they’re great. Like, really great. Even the packaging the products came in was really nice and you could tell a lot of thought went into it.
