Its amazing how many people are viewing The Clash video's still today proving what all of us original Clash fans knew, there music is timeless, pure genius!
No one Screams like Joe Strummer!.....i liked Big Audio Dynamite.. It was a good side project, till this day The Clash is still the only band that Matters., I wish Joe was Still Here..Green Day is still rideing on the Fumes of Dookie!.. They suck a pantload Live..when I listen to this 30 years after the fact. I'm still a rebel Twenty Something.. That's the Stuff..The Soundtrack of the Rebellion.. You can Believe That..
One of the best songs ever. Everything is good in this song! "So back to work an' sweat some more The sun will sink an' we'll get out of the door" Priceless!
YES, back when bands didn't play every song just as it was recorded in the studio. EAch version full of new life!!!! Viva Joe, viva Mick. Really miss you JOe.
One of my fave Clash songs...After hearing an interview a couple of years ago with Eva Mendes. She had said this was one of her all-time fave songs ever...I kind of payed attention to it more.I believe it...She's HOT and the song is too...
@GAK62 I saw Clash at their very last shows at Hollywood Palladium in L.A. I think in Nov. 1982. Best live concert I've ever experienced in my life--and I've been to a lot of great-great ones. But the Clash at the Palladium was IT. Most wild but non- injurious mosh-pit I've ever negotiated.
how can this amasing vid only have 67.3k views, this song is one of the best from the certainly best punk rock band there has been so far. i encourage all my mates to watch this cos it's not only a great song but great extras in the vid. R.I.P Strummer.
This IS-- The Greatest Clash Song, EVERR r -- bar none, period. And this is, THE BEST VERSION I have seen on line---- thanks, ya Fn mighty beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yea,....Oi-yea! Get yourself that ch'ceezzz-b'ouy-guuurrrrr -- !! (This is One of The GD BEST BANDS to EVER PLAY A RnR LICK -- EVERRRRRRR. (Good night. Now!)
he was fires from the group while they were recording "combar rock" that´s why he appears in the album photos but the drummer in the "rock the casbah" videoclip is not him is not the one in the video neither it´s pretty sad cos topper wrote rock the casbah (drums, piano and i think also the bass)
Saw the Clash's first US show at a Cambridge, Mass movie theatre and a few years later at Bonds in Time Square. They were the best live band of all time!!!
the clash were a punk band in essence and certainly in philosophy, but they transcended genre. they took influences from so many different styles of music that they crafted a unique sound that defies any description other than "completely fucking brilliant".
Has there EVER been a band that took the chance "The Clash" did? Talk about a unique, break away from the mainstream form of music...Rap, heavy metal, punk and glam all rolled into one. Also the randomness of the lyrics is brilliant; "News Flash-Vacuum cleaner sucks up Budgie?"
Unfortunately, Paul (God that he is) has got nothing on Norman Watt Roy, who wrote and played the bassline on the record. Paul's never been able to play that line, not that it matters.
Of one thing I am sure: If humans are still here in 500 years they will be listening to Louis Armstrong, Billie Holliday, Hank Williams, Jimi Hendrix and the Clash. Music may be the 20th century's great legacy.
@lupatello This is the three-day US Festival 83 headlined by the Clash, Van Halen and David Bowie. This is the night when some members of the Clash' entourage got into an altercation with concert organizers and the band nearly canceled the show but ended up playing much later that night. I was there-- the beginning of a premature end for the greatest rock band of all time. What a night it was!
Paul doesn't play this song on Sandinista..it was the bassist from The Blockheads, Norman Watt-Roy. So props to him because he wrote the bassline and much of the song, along with the keyboardist from the Blockheads.
"Can White Guys Rap"...I LOVE it and LAUGH when i STILL hear this questioned today, and people act as if so many little children/eminem are responsible for "doing it first"...And I Just CRANK This Tune Up Higher Than High ;-)
Actually I think this sounds different to the Shea version.. And Pete Howard on drums Just being a Clash geek... On their way out and still sounding fantastic live
Looks like a show from the Combat rock tour 1982. I saw hem at the Spectrum in Philadelphia probably late August. They looked pretty much the same. Arena Looks similar. Could be...
Its amazing how many people are viewing The Clash video's still today proving what all of us original Clash fans knew, there music is timeless, pure genius!
And here we are, after 12 years of your coment
The absolutely best song ever by The Clash
I agree
Best song ever for an alarm clock to set off at 7AM.
You can forget to brush your teeth. Lol
I've learned that that's the best way to ruin a song, especially if you're not a morning person.

drums..bass..reggae riff ...nyc rap...timeless
It's amazing, they have got so good basslines, although Paul Simonon couldn't play in the beginning. Best band ever :) and a very good song
Paul did not play bass on the studio recording of this, the Blockheads bassist did
...I WAS AT THIS SHOW
And you had to comment that?! I am born in 2007 so im 5 years late from his death 😢😥
I love that drum solo towards the end. They are the best...

I love the bass part in this song! It's so awesome! Paul McCartney ain't got nothing on Paul Simonon!!!
Unfortunately, Paul (God that he is) has got nothing on Norman Watt Roy, who wrote and played the bassline on the record. Paul's never been able to play that line, not that it matters.
I never got tired of this video !

Wow. That is a work of art. Thanks, UA-cam!
Great song by a great band I love Sandinista!
The drummer in the video is Terry Chimes who played drums on the début album, Topper was kicked out just prior to this tour I think.
Pete Howard.
"Can White Guys Rap"...I LOVE it and LAUGH when i STILL hear this questioned today, and people act as if so many little children/eminem are responsible for "doing it first"...And I Just CRANK This Tune Up Higher Than High ;-)
