On The Golden Girls, I always loved when Bea/Dorothy would keep looking back/up after Betty/Rose said something nonsensical. She'd start talking, then pause and look, start talking and do it again, or leaving the scene, she'd keep turning around and looking back--loved that! RIP Bea
Benny mentioned his violin teacher as a Mr. Le Blanc. He's referring to a character on his show played by the legendary voice actor, Mel Blanc, Jack Benny's best friend who did numerous cameos on his show. Mel Blanc played part in one episode as Jack's teacher and Jack drove the poor guy into insanity with his crazy antics.
Impressive. We don’t have anything like it these days and I miss it. Wholesome, clever, elegant, sharp, smart, classic and super funny. Talent at its best.
That's why I don't even watch current TV, just 50s-60s-70s reruns. Exceptions are shows like Shark Tank, that one is very interesting. Not offensive whatsoever and entertaining.
Lucille Ball with her long eyelashes n charming face... Totally unforgettable.. Takes you back to another time another place when the world was safe, clean and good...! And laughter was real☺
same her October, I too was in grade school and this show was store in my memory till this day. I just had to look it up on UA-cam so I can watch it again.
What I Really Disliked ( in the "70s) when Hollywood sitcoms had to stuff there so called political " MESSAGES" down our throats! From "M*A*S*H to All in the family!
@@christopherdutro168 No one forces you to watch. All in the Family to my mind was horrible, Johnny Speight the writer & creator from the UK called the show in the UK Sickness & in Health & it was a hit in Germany. As I said, I thought the show horrible. But M.A.S.H. was brilliant in my opinion. Fun, fun, fun with the back drop of war, pain & suffering. Writers have messages & opinions, like David E. Kelley of Boston Legal among other things, he too has strong opinions on how America dumb down education & bully their way around the globe. His message was We are not the best but do our best.
I forgot about the snapping turtles! LOL! "Okay fellas, BEAT IT!!!!" Why is it so funny to me that Lucy can command snapping turtles to swim away with a voice command! It's absurd, but frankly I think absurdity is the best form of comedy, and LUCY DID IT BETTER THAN ALMOST ALL OF THEM!!! Love love LOVE LUCY!!!
The part where they getJack's information is just hysterical. I can watch it over and over again especially when lucy walks out the door. That part shows you the genius of jack benny
In real life, Jack Benny and Lucille Ball were next door neighbors in Beverly Hills. In the scene were Lucy is admiring Jack Benny's photos, I would have written in a gag where one of the photos she comes across is Lucille Ball. Then I would have had Lucy Carmichael say "I always thought she was the most glamorous star" to which Jack Benny could have given his trademark stare into the camera and say in a deadpan voice "yes, I'm sure".
jack benny was really an astute businessman...He flew all over the usa for business...Dick CAVETT asked him that question on his show and he said yes he does have several business dealings...Dick cavett asked him if he has life insurance. His answer"Boy do I have insurance! If i go down, they (the companies he is insured with) go down ! that was funny
10.43....the photo behind Lucy is Jack Benny being presented to King George 6th at the London Palladium in 1950. The occasion was the Royal Command Variety Performance. The women in between them is Dinah Shore, shaking hands with the future Queen of England, Princess Elizabeth.
Yes I enjoy comedy and I really like Lucy's style of comedy. Her original writers really knew how to write for her. When I watch other reruns from this time period like My Three Sons or Family Affair, I am not nearly as excited about them, there is just something about Lucy's episode and the Dick Van Dyke Show that turn me on.
Milt Josefsberg, who co-wrote this episode (and was one of Jack's writers for almost 15 years), recalled that this was the most expensive episode Lucy filmed in her final season of "THE LUCY SHOW"- due to the elaborate vault sequence. In fact, the final gag cost Lucy $10,000 to create.
I wondered about that, all the special effects! I noticed a giant hole in the "rock wall" after the Indians charged Mr. Benny, revealing it as styrofoam (seen clearly at 21:23.) You can sort of see it break at 20:02 when they come running from behind it. But even I, who works as a theater set designer, can figure out how they did the quicksand in front of a studio audience! Ha ha! Must have been an elaborate set-up!

I always thought Mr. Cheever was SO funny. True story: I used to work with a man named Mooney. His boss (now dead) used to come busting in just like that and yell 'MOONEY' the exact same way Mr. Cheever did. And Mooney would jump just like Mr. Mooney on this show! LOL
CBS had Monday nights locked up. Lucy, Andy Griffith, Danny Thomas, and a bit later Carol Burnett. All TV has now is reality, which means who's got the best abs or the biggest ass.
Lucy and Jack lived next door to each other for years. A friend of Lucy's said you would hear the violin long before you saw Jack. He would come in the backdoor do a turn around the kitchen and you would hear him all the way back home. Jack's radio show was the best on radio, better then Hope. He made himself the butt of all the jokes and the writing was excellent not to mention the cast. Jello was his sponsor before the war then they need Gelatin to make bombs so Jello didn't have to advertise. After the war Jello became the sponsor of Lucy's radio show "My Favourite Husband." Lucy would start the show saying "Jello everybody, Jello!"
I love to see AJ Allmendinger get another chance at the indy 500 or Curt Bush. How do you think Eric Jones or Christopher Bell or Reddick would do in a indy car.
of course we know it's not his real bank account number, I don't care how well you know a person and how close of a friend they are yours not going to give them your real bank account number, I hope

The only line he had waa gus signature line from gus variety show after he rajes a bite out of gis hamburger with a dollar bill as a wedge if lettuce, "Giw sweet It is!"
Oh! just loved Lucy: "Mr Benny...walk this way"...Mr Benny: " I always do". Lol Priceless comedy!
Very priceless and it's my favorite episode
An oldy but a goody. Similar to "Would you like to join us over here" "Why, are you coming apart"?
The great Jack Benny with Lucy 2 comedy geniuses on the same show. Just amazing
Love Jack Benny's sarcastic, silent deadpan expression. Bea Arthur also had that talent, able to crack people up without saying a word.
Bob Hope?

She was a crackup as well
The funniest lines are generally delivered with a straight face, Ms. Arthur always had a straight face.
It is so nice to see them together. I cried when they died. This a treasure.
Lucy is dead?
Jack Benny was a class act.
All the crazy sounds such as Jack's Maxwell car were made by Mel 'Bugs Bunny' Blanc.
That episode on the Jack Benny show was priceless.

I just adore this programme...
It is priceless...
Love you loads and loads
When Jack says.. "They cost me about the same..." The subtle little look on Lucy's face is Priceless!
This show was excellent. I have enjoyed watching this so much. We need more shows like this today.
Patricia Barkley ... today’s audience needs crude humor... these shows are from an innocent, bygone era...never to return, sadly for society
None of todays"junk"isn't as good as yesterdays classics......and you can bank on that........hahaha
Lucille Ball with her long eyelashes n charming face...

"Cute? Weren't you frightened?" "When you've been with Custer nothing frightens you." Great episode. Loved Jack Benny.

This plays like a sketch on a Benny show with guests from "The Lucy Show."
Milt Josefsberg wrote for Jack- on radio and TV- for 12 years.
I used to watch this show with my grandmother. Jack Benny reminds me of my grandfather.
Supposedly, Jack Benny and Lucy were next-door neighbors, and they adored one-another. This was one of the funniest post-Vivian Vance episodes.
It is funny and wonderful, it creates very-very good feeling!!!!😊🍮🍰🍷❤
9:05 As soon as I saw those black-and-white tiles, I was pretty sure that Jack Benny was a Freemason...
Mr. Benny , walk this way .......I always do !
Ms Lucy and mr Benny they were amazing and comic Gold together
Benny and Lucy is the same thing like my 3 year's old man 👰🤰🧜🌺🥥😭🤑😍
