I was a 3 yr old living in the Heights in 1973, not living alone but with my parents. This was the reason we moved out of the Heights.
I was not even born yet...
Woah I'm glad I wasn't born at that time or during Ted Bundy, the Night stalker and the Toy Box King! My parents where alive during all of those and that's why they where afraid
@@lizdestefano4905 I don’t blame them either
The heights is where rich people live now
Of course it's obvious if u were 3 years old u would live with ur parents, duh!!😅😅😅😅
You left out the pure apathy of the cops. The fact that many parents begged them to find their kids and for cops to flat out ignore them, even telling them "Why are you even here? You know you're kid is just a runaway". Many kids were labeled "runaways" rather than actual "missing" people.
yet when kids runaway from abusive and dangerous households the police will drag them back by their hair.
The cops doing what they do best all the wrong things smh
If they were girls I doubt it would have been like that
Cops are awful in almost every case of a poor kid disappearing especially in the 60s-80s when they just handwaved every disapeance as runaways. Either because of laziness or class/race bias
They're still bad today but there's more scrutiny on them so they actually have to at least act like they're doing their jobs

I was born and raised in the Heights. The Heights is the oldest neighborhood in Houston. Once upon a time it was poor and a large Hispanic community(at least when I was growing up). Now it’s definitely and upper class neighborhood because the property is worth so much. I remember my grandma saying she moved into the neighborhood shortly after all this happened.
I when to school in the Heights it was call Ronald Reagan High School before they change it to Heights High School and when I hear this story back the it got me more interested in the history of the Heights.

I grew up in the Houston Heights area at the time of these murders, actually knew the younger sibs of several victims. The thing that struck me the most back then was the hysterical guilt fueled reactions of parents, teachers and cops after it all came to light. They had dismissed the missing boys as runaways and never looked closer.suddenly we had cops in class rooms, teachers and parents lecturing us about strangers and creeps. They often would take an almost morbid delight in describing what was done to the victims in an effort to frighten us( I guess). In the end all it did was make us(even more)suspicious of strangers.
And cops
But the problem with the stranger danger thing is that it seemed like they knew one or both of them so he's not a stranger. People get attacked by people they know too
That’ll make you 60-70 years old

This takes “don’t take candy from strangers” to a whole other level
Pretty sure this is where the candy and white van trope comes from
School example of "do not take candies from unknown persons". Incredible is that Hollywood has never exploited this topic.
Imagine calling the police and saying:
“Yo come here I killed a man”
“Ay, broski, I may have murdered a dude. Come on over, we can talk about it over wine.”
(This is a joke. I feel like I have to point that out.)
You should look up "the weepy voiced killer". There's even audio of his calls on UA-cam. Creepy stuff.
Suprisely tho this happens more than you think😑
i love this channel, they are always talking about death, drugs, chaos, and violence...the sad truth about life

Yeah living in Houston it’s been weird seeing how the Houston heights has changed from super ghetto to very prissy
Wait until the candy man is reincarnated 😉

When I heard of Candy Man, I didn't exactly know what he did, I kinda just assumed that he had poisoned candy, or like, put blades in candy, since that is usually what my mom warned about like, "don't take candy from strangers, it probably has something in it" and, y'know, there are people who would ACTUALLY do that. So, imagine how SHOCKED I was, after finding out what he ACTUALLY DID
they dont talk about Corrl because of his connection to the trafficking rings that they dont want people to dig into
and the fact his identity privilege beign part of a certain protected group as well, they dont want flack nor criticism becuz one of their own is a monster

Interesting take on Corll, im a licensed P.I. in Texas, and have studied him for years, i was unaware of Brooks passing, but Curly was 20 or 21 when that night happened, not 17
When I heard of the Candyman movie coming out I genuinely believed it was a movie about this guy and his serial killings and what not, I was very confused when I found out it indeed was not - growing up in the Houston area I think a lot of kids are told this story since it’s so close to home
Im from Houston and I never heard of this but what really got me was the fact that the kids knowingly let their other friends to get tortured and killed over 200 dollars like wow

Bro I just searched up what he would do to his victims. It was actually the worst things I've read that someone has done, it's so disgusting.
I was just researching this about 2 hours ago, and this was posted an hour ago!! CREEEEPPYYYY. I saw something about him on Instagram, so I was wondering why an actual motion picture hasn't been made, only a under budget B flick.
Because showing what the horrible things he has done would require a lot of money spent on special effects and it would also probably dissuade a LOT of cinemas from showing it and a lot of people from seeing it, not a lot of folks have the stomach to whatch such a thing.
There’s a movie of it out now
One movie is called in a mad mans world. Its on u tube.
Do you know the account?
Dean Corll is hardly "unheard of" - It's a very well known story.
Maybe not as well known as Bundy, Dahmer, Gacy, Ramirez, Kemper, Lucas, Ridgeway or Rader, but he's still very well known.
He is a main topic in most universities criminal justice and Psychology classes in Texas.
Yeah but there is only one professional documentary on him and no movies on him like the others

I already know this gonna be scary
Submitted for your consideration; I think that the reason Dean Corll isn't spoken of is because of his extremely evil behavior. His behavior is so utterly reprehensible and dark that it's truly unthinkable, and actually unspeakable. Dean was likely so distant from humanity that it took a herculean effort to appear normal for even a moment, and his motives and thoughts are likely incomprehensible to anyone with even a little bit of good in them.
no that is not the reason, they speak of others that have done similar crimes, like John Wayne Gacy
they just dont talk about Corrl because of his connection to the trafficking rings that they dont want people to dig into
i did some research on my own, turns out brooks died last year from covid-19. its insane that its still so recent

You guys should talk about the Long Island serial killer. They actually never found him till this day and that’s scary.
Wooo this is what I wanted
As late as 2018, the 29th victim was discovered when a film maker going through Henley's possessions found a polaroid photo of a terrified handcuffed young boy in surroundings matching Corll's home. He has not been identified and is not amongst the known victims. There's a real possibility that Dean may have killed way more than 29 victims. Heck there's even suspicion than Brooks and Henley were not the first accomplices and that Corll may have had other accomplices before them that he then killed. Guess we will never know.
Just imagine after his death he became the actual candyman just like the horror film series but with a different story
This happened down the street from my house, (obviously long before I lived here). It’s weird to think about
The heights have changed now it’s as nice as River Oaks
Wasn't it so easy to catch him at his first such crime? if a boy went missing after attending his party then other boys would have told that he went missing after the party, especially when it became a pattern.
