I think they get less buff over the generations because the first two had to rely on hamon and physical strength. The new ones are stand users, so they have less to rely on. They don't do much hand work since their stand can help. Polnareff said he trained, Jotaro probably did but didn't know, and Joseph relied on strength and hamon. Not much is given about Mr. K. N. Donut, Avdol, or Iggy.
I think my favorite part of the OVA is how long the heartbeat scene is. It makes you really uncomfortable knowing that Jotaro's stopping his heart (in the OVA it's devoid of music, which makes it even more uncomfortable).

I will not for the life of me understand how people cant just APPRECIATE the quality of the OVA. Who the fuck cares of the POINT of Jotaro is flamboyancy? What the about the actual QUALITY?! Jesus christ its like everyones a purist. I love how theirs an actual substantial element in this version that makes you feel terrified, makes you feel desperate, sad and hopeful, and yet its unlike any of that with all the goofy clothes, the strange abilities, etc. It works so well! I love both versions but this one is something else

Ugh, why do people have to jduge anime just by how it looks while paused? Art style in 2015 anime is better, but the OVA's animation was much, much, MUCH smoother due to having more time, budget, and less rush. Or maybe you only watched the first half of the OVA, which was largely outsourced to Korea and looks worse than the new anime. If that's not the case then you must like still frames and motion tweening a lot.
Speedwagon foundation could've been taking care of him already when he fell unconscious, but Jotaro and Joseph were conscious during the time so they were the ones to dispose Dio.
whats more is that we see MORE environmental damage, like example: that scene where Star Platinum destroys the tower in half and throws it at DIO was such a fucking good scene

Eh its just because the ova is only a few episodes short and they had to rush the fight a lot so some things happen instantly and Skip some conversation.
It''s not that they were just doing whatever they felt like, the point was to be a more horror-influenced take on JoJo. That and it would be impossible with the technology at the time to make animation that resembles Araki's artstyle.

The way Dio in the ova was throwing yachts and cars around casually without using his stand nails home how strong he was. Dio in the ova when awakened was at least 50-60% his peak.
The manga sorta does this by having Dio overpower Star Platinum (during the Road Roller) without using The World and only using his bare hands, but it’s a lot cooler in the OVA.

I can't believe no one is going to point out how Polnareff in the "stopped heart" scene was treated better here than in the anime. He and Jotaro worked off each other so well to deliver that WOMBO COMBO straight to Dio, that I wish they kept that in the Anime instead of bitch slapping Polnareff aside and unnecessarily stretching out the scene.
It's some great visual story telling where each part of the scene further escalates until it reaches a climax. Jotaro is stuck waiting for an opportunity that frankly won't come (Without help) Polnareff gives that help with a sneak attack on Dio while he's focused on Jotaro The blood splatter snaps Jotato back from to reality but Dio is too shocked about Vanilla Ice's death to notice until it's too late. Jotaro gets the one punch he was trying to get the entire fight. At this point in the story Polnareff has matured and is carrying both Iggy and Avdol's death on his sleeve. Seeing his attack not contribute in a meaningful way is just a poor story telling choice that was a welcome change in the OVA. The source material, in this case, the manga. Should not be absolute and in most cases, minor alterations often improve the source material when creators are given the free range to adjust. Much like the OVAs changes.

Yeah! I always thought it would have been badass to be able to see the fights from the perspective of a random bystander who doesn't have the ability to see Stands. Can you imagine taking out two handfuls of knives, and then they just float out of his hands and shoot at Jotaro?
I love the anime with all my heart, but the level of expressions and actions felt so much more human to me in the OVA. Seeing DIO acting like a beast by killing those innocent people and seeing Jotaro's expressions full of panic and fear makes the whole thing so much intense, and the level of detail they put on the expressions and the whole fight is brutal.
I like that too, you can just feel Jotaros anger and rage when the civilians are killed. It adds a lot to him in my opinion as we forget that he is a 17 year old kid, seeing that probably angered and saddened him
2015 DIO just wanted to rule the world with his stand The World and he treated him self like royalty. This DIO is much better cause he's a murder and his teleporting makes him look more horrifying

Fun fact: in the audio drama version where Norio Wakamoto voices DIO, they actually uses his old Space Laser Eyes move, the same one that killed Jonathan.
I love how in this version they actually showcase how powerful High DIO really is, to the extent of having him legitimately toss cars, throw a fucking boat, cleave through three people like wet paper, and phase out the world to an extent. He even shoved Star Platinum's hands aside at one point.
Shoving Star Platinums hand out of the way is the most impressive feat though, considering that normally, it's impossible to touch a stand without using your stand.
This is by far my favorite dragon ball z episode, DIO going super Saiyan for the first time was a real plot twist, but Jotaro's zenkai boost was bigger
Not gonna lie the art style for the Stardust Crusaders OVA looked better then the 2015 anime (the only things that peeve me in the OVA is Iggy's design, Joseph's beard color being blonde and The World/Star Platinum's color scheme)

DIO in 2015: he is playing with his enemies, which causes several loopholes to appear. DIO in the OVA: Literally tries to assassinate Jotaro in the first minutes of the fight. This version of DIO is smarter.
5:09 I’m glad the OVA actually showed how they were “flying” as many people think they were. I really don’t know why the anime didn’t show this. (Well the anime did, but it was too subtle). Back when I didn’t know what Jojo was and saw this fight I thought they were straight up flying in the anime instead of stand jumping.
LegendaryDoge they’re shown doing this in the modern version as well. It isn’t always shown and some parts just don’t make sense but it’s definitely there.
I will give this to the OVA, which otherwise I find inferior. The recreation of Egypt is far superior to that of the anime. You feel like you're actually there in Cairo's streets during the night. The OVA even puts Arabic letters. In the anime, on the other hand, you feel like you're in any urban city in the world. You can tell someone that's Tokyo and they'll believe you. It may have to do with censorship, but still.
A phantom blood movie adaptation (probably by the same guys who did the ova) in 2007 was literally lost to time because some people made a fuss out of The Koran being on it, It never got a DVD release because of that and a copy of the full movie never surfaced.

The 6th episode of the second OVA serie from the 2000s, a prequel series that adapted (VERY freely) the beginning of SC up to the Justice fight, was the one that caused controversy for the Quran being used. Jotaro in the OVA is implied to be Jonathan's reincarnation on some level. His first thought upon being attacked with a flesh bud was to hallucinate the burning Joestar mansion fight of Dio and Jonathan.

I can't believe no one is going to point out how Polnareff in the "stopped heart" scene was treated better here than in the anime. He and Jotaro worked off each other so well to deliver that WOMBO COMBO straight to Dio, that I wish they kept that in the Anime instead of bitch slapping Polnareff aside and unnecessarily stretching out the scene.
It's some great visual story telling where each part of the scene further escalates until it reaches a climax.
Jotaro is stuck waiting for an opportunity that frankly won't come (Without help)
Polnareff gives that help with a sneak attack on Dio while he's focused on Jotaro
The blood splatter snaps Jotato back from to reality but Dio is too shocked about Vanilla Ice's death to notice until it's too late.
Jotaro gets the one punch he was trying to get the entire fight.
At this point in the story Polnareff has matured and is carrying both Iggy and Avdol's death on his sleeve. Seeing his attack not contribute in a meaningful way is just a poor story telling choice that was a welcome change in the OVA.
The source material, in this case, the manga. Should not be absolute and in most cases, minor alterations often improve the source material when creators are given the free range to adjust. Much like the OVAs changes.

That reaction alone is pretty satisfying. Its a subtle way of showing how trusting Dio was of Vanilla Ice and how much of a threat he suddenly realizes Polnareff really is.

I love the anime with all my heart, but the level of expressions and actions felt so much more human to me in the OVA. Seeing DIO acting like a beast by killing those innocent people and seeing Jotaro's expressions full of panic and fear makes the whole thing so much intense, and the level of detail they put on the expressions and the whole fight is brutal.
I like that too, you can just feel Jotaros anger and rage when the civilians are killed. It adds a lot to him in my opinion as we forget that he is a 17 year old kid, seeing that probably angered and saddened him

I love how in this version they actually showcase how powerful High DIO really is, to the extent of having him legitimately toss cars, throw a fucking boat, cleave through three people like wet paper, and phase out the world to an extent. He even shoved Star Platinum's hands aside at one point.
Shoving Star Platinums hand out of the way is the most impressive feat though, considering that normally, it's impossible to touch a stand without using your stand.

I will give this to the OVA, which otherwise I find inferior. The recreation of Egypt is far superior to that of the anime. You feel like you're actually there in Cairo's streets during the night. The OVA even puts Arabic letters. In the anime, on the other hand, you feel like you're in any urban city in the world. You can tell someone that's Tokyo and they'll believe you. It may have to do with censorship, but still.

A phantom blood movie adaptation (probably by the same guys who did the ova) in 2007 was literally lost to time because some people made a fuss out of The Koran being on it, It never got a DVD release because of that and a copy of the full movie never surfaced.
