In my opinion his sacking disaster classes sunk his reputation. Hut he still took Roma to back to back European finals, he shines the best when hes given a tough challenge, he even took a dysfunctional Tottenham side to the EFL Cup Final before he was sacked. Alot of people easily write him off as finished but Mourinho still has it in him. There is doubt as to if someone like Pep Guardiola could have won the UCL without a team that plays to his exact preference.
The truth is very murky and hard to find but I believe you are hitting on some key points here. I remember at one press conference many years ago where he said I have nothing left to prove and he looked so depressed. That's when I knew the old José was gone. I can't understand how of all people he could lose the joy of being at the top of world football.
People change, besides he achieved so much early on in his career... I mean a Champions League with Porto? That's crazy Sometimes it's hard to believe there's more out there to win and stay motivated for, specially after a couple of disappointments
@@ThroneFC oh I agree, what he did until 2010 is enough to consider him the greatest manager of all time. I really think the Barça job would've been better for him instead of Madrid but it was out of his hands.

But do you think he'll be able to climb back to the top of the football pyramid?
@@ThroneFCmay be
Roma is honestly a rather modest team, they are kind of competitive and it's already a miracle
@@ThroneFC he could if hes given resources alike to Pep's Man City
