That is some grade-A material Mr. Stewart delivered there. And it's true Regis never turned down a gig: I did a live advertising event with him right around this time where he interviewed balding men about their success with Rogaine.
But did you ever work with Jerry Clower? He would grab your shirt right below the collar and draw you in nose to nose.
He did the same Kennedy jokes 2 years earlier on his first TV appearance! So fun seeing this.
That's how you do respect. Jon shows Dave a ton of respect the whole time. I wonder whatever happened to Jon. He's got potential!

He looks so young I think, “What a punk!” (I’m 8 years younger.) But he is so good here it blows me away.
I recall him co-hosting ("co-anchor" 🤔) the Comedy Central show, Short Attention Span Theater which was basically a stand-up clips show interspersed with entertainment news and occasional guest interviews delivered from a news desk set for an hour each day. His co-host, Patty Rossborough. I distinctly recall that program in 1991 and he was also one of the young comedians featured on HBO's Young Comedians Special...I believe it was the 14th annual for 1991. The SAST show was an HBO/Downtown production and they likely were involved in the Ha! or Comedy Channel networks that merged to create Comedy Central in 1991.
I can’t remember ever seeing Jon with jet black hair.
This black hair, leather jacket wearing Jon is the one from my teenage years, when I was an avid watcher of the short lived Jon Stewart Show on MTV and when he started featuring after Dave as guest host of Tom Snyder’s Late Late Show.
My hair was darker when I was 32 as well. :-)

Jon was so quick and funny - maybe the fastest comedian at that time.
Still wish Jon would've taken over the show.
Was that ever discussed? I think Jon was pretty burned out by the end of his Daily Show run. Dealing with U.S. politics night after night would wear anyone down.

I guess Dave wasn't payin attention or he asked Jon-Jon to do it again. Weird hearin the Ted Kennedy joke knowin that he dies of brain cancer.
At times, when Mr Stewart was speaking, I could hear Howard Stern. Odd, that.
