I also hate professors that teach a subject and wrote a text book on the subject and make it "mandatory" for us to get the book.. which we need an access code for online assignments that also has an ebook.. why can't we just get the access code.. spent over $300 on two books so far.. and I need three more.. -.- Smh
I know the feeling T_T Had a nutrition professor require a page out of her textbook for a "project" and the page couldn't be photocopied...zzzz. It had to be "official' or else you'd fail the project and subsequently, the class. Class A money grubbing bitch.
I hate that, I'm in college for 2 years for Animation and most of the course I've done so far have nothing to do with my major! general ed classes are a waste of time and money.
We had four of these foundation level gen ed classes we had to take and it was mandatory, not a choice. They were absolutely pointless and had no value. Such a waste of money ._.
I'm starting college soon so I have all this to look forward too. Luckily here in Australia college works a lot differently, but books still be expensive as hell.
i work at a college book store and i reccomend going to the store to copy down the isbn and the prices. We do have used rentals for tons of books which is THE best deal, but if you can find it online cheaper WE WILL BEG YOU NOT TO SPEND TOO MUCH MONEY. Not even us employees want you to waste yo cash.
God I remember when you told us about slug books for the first time, it saved my broke ass. I graduated college in 2015 and I'm still thankful to David for showing me that website.
I have a B.S in Psychology but can't find a job in anything... Not even as a bank teller. Can we talk about that? It's probably attributed to my non exisiting work experience... But still, it shouldn't be this hard.

iBeFloe Apparently? Many students still come from generations of parents that grew up in times where you were guaranteed a good job as long as you had a college degree, regardless of what subject it was in. Some haven't even attended college, and many schools(high school and colleges) do not focus on the viability of different subjects. Instead, they simply show pictures of successful people, happy college students, and pretty college campuses and say, "See, don't you want to go here? Go here. If you don't, you're a loser. Follow your dreams and your passions!" Then, as a stupid teenager that has had no life experience out from under their parents, you choose your major and get into college. Some people follow through while others change majors. Some only realize when they're too far into their program and debt that their degree might very well be "useless" and others will ridicule them until the economy shifts and there are shortages of those majors and professions.
Great textbook info! Discounted and rental textbooks are the way to go. But you know what's really annoying? Course packets. Those EXPENSIVE, one-time-use packets of a few poorly-scanned articles that teachers require you to buy for one class, that you can't find online, and can never return or resell to anyone else.
I start on Wednesday. What bothers me is that you spend full tuition on the first two years taking gym, communications, economics, english, basic math etc. When this HAS NOTHING to do with your major. That's just a rip off and so damn ridiculous.
I was a returning college student, went back to school at 28. I did community college first, got the gen. ed. stuff out of the way for MUCH cheaper than the 4-year school I transferred to. I still had a few school-based core requirements to take care of once I transferred, but my time there consisted mostly of classes I actually wanted to take. Of course, people don't really push high schoolers to do the community college thing first, which is a shame.
Ikr! GenEd classes are so damn uselsss. Skip to the major part. And for undecided people just have an undecided layout for them OR if they have an IDEA of what they want to major in but aren't sure, just let them pay for the courses to see how they are. - And some major classes have their own "GenEd" as well which I really hate. Some "GenEd" major classes are helpful but some aren't. For example... I was listed as a Photography major but they wanted me to take drawing classes 1st. It was a requirement. I even talked to the drawing class professor...She said that she only passes students that have good drawings. Ergo, I wasn't going to pass that drawing class. I'm a digital artist, so I use tablets. They didn't even have a photography class. Does that even make sense? They offered a degree which INCLUDED photograhpy in the degree but that degree was more of a general "This is for *whatever they use to make art here*" Dropped the idea of majoring in that because I just...couldn't lol
Very true guys. I've already been accepted to the 4 year though. Not to mention my mom discourages community college. She expected all her kids to go to a 4 year.
100Stratusfiedx Who cares what your mom says? I took a leave of absence from my 4-year and took some of my gen ed classes there. Saved a lot of gas, time, and money.
AMEN! been in college three years, and I have learned that don't always, if ever, need to get the textbook. Borrow, rent, find as pdf online if ya can.
first semester in college and my english professor said that we needed a specific text book. I went to go find it only to find out that the book was about 200, and it's 2 weeks till class ends and we never opened it...... so glad I didn't buy it at the price it was.
haha aw im soo glad college is done and over for me :( i used to be likr those college textbook drugdealers that stalked people in the bookstore. "pssst...you want that law book? ill sell it for $50". bought all my textbooks on amazon and if it wasn't available.. i made photocopies. x__x
here over in germany universities are free and there is only a small semester fee ... additionally you can get many books from the library ... and if you are a student you can ride the bus, tram and subway for free :)
I haven't bought a college text book since my freshman year. My university has these awesome scanners (KIC scanners) and the text books are in the library like most of the time. So what I do is check out the book, then scan what ever chapters I need for the class, save it in my USB or External hard drive, and return.= FREE money in my pocket, and good grades, what. And if the professor doesn't put the book in the library, I just buy it offline- preferably amazon- where they are able to be returned for a full refund (with prime or the student account), scan it, pack it back up and send it right back, and wait for my full refund== FREE!
Also look into getting older versions of a book. Most of the time, it's almost the same with very minor changes at over half the price of the newer edition.
wait has anyone actually had a textbook that ran them $400-500? most i've paid for was like $150 when i was a moron and actually bought them at the bookstore. you guys should also keep the receipt because its a tax write off
They vary depending on class and type of book. I've paid as much as 250 because we HAD to buy new for the code for a learning website. I rent now if I can.
Most I've had to pay for a set of textbooks was around $600. Good thing I got a gift card from the school I was going to because of a program I was in. I remember my friend spending close to $900 on a single day to buy all his books. Maxed out his credit card in one single day. Smh.
Oh man I remember last year when you mentioned slugbooks and dude, that site saved my wallet. Especially since I didn't have a job at the time and only had about $100 to my name. I've been using it ever since. Thank you!
if your school has a rental system, I suggest using it. it's saves me a good portion of money. also, book exchange/trade off with friends if you guys know you're taking the same class but at different times. or just book share with another classmate.
I fucking hated cumulative finals. Instructor: Our final exam is coming up in a few weeks. You all need to get ready for it. Me: Is the final cumulative or not? Instructor: Of course it's cumulative. Me: GOD FUCKING DAMNIT! *slams book down*
Yeah because a couple years from now I'm gonna pull that dusty ass book out of my storage closet and read it... LIKE FUCK I WILL. People(most of us, at least) only get the book because it's practically essential to the course. And we take these courses to get a college degree, which is pretty much the bare minimum for a job nowadays. But then again, even with a degree, you're still not guaranteed a job anyways.
Read after a few years??? FEW YEARS OF WHAT. LOL. You take the class, you're done. Especially GenEd classes. And if they're books for your major, why not get used? Have fun with loans for books if you're going to buy them all brand new?
It's called aperture. The camera is able to control how much light is let in in many ways, and in this case, it is the aperture. He probably has a low f-stop number, thus high aperture. It lets in more light, but, it can only focus on one thing. It can only focus on either the background, or the foreground. In this case David focused himself as the foreground. Source: I took a photography class, and David is using a DSLR to film his vlogs.
It's called depth of field, my friend. Foreground, midground, background. David got himself a nice DSLR camera with the nice lens and focused the foreground (which is himself).
At my college there are professors that are authors of certain textbooks, so they would force kids taking their classes to purchase or rent their books. The situation got so bad that the general consul of our college wrote a policy that forced professors to stop doing that.
There was only one thing I hated back when I was in college. That was dealing with financial aid. Every semester that was a hassle. With all the ridiculous and unneccesary documents that needed and then it was a big hassle the way they wanted the documents sent to them. I hated dealing with financial aid. everything else was great. If anyone is a college student, I'm sure they have been there with financial aid too.
+Matthew Kuch i am a sleep deprived almost bold early twenties girl. And i think i found a white strand. just kill me. I have another 4 years to get BS.
I went just finished college (about 2 months ago) and I'm so glad I'm not going to University from the way I've heard people, like you for example, talk about it.
There are professors that take questions from previous tests for the cumulative exam and it's like *angel chorus* because you just need flash area and to memorize.
I rarely buy textbooks anymore. I always just go to the school's library, scan a couple chapters at a time, and go home and read it on my tablet. Doesn't always work that way, but I have saved a shit ton of money from it.
I'm a 2nd year college student, and this hits me in the feels. Not once have I felt like I had money in my pocket throughout college. Not looking forward to this years textbooks. Ain't nobody trying to lose 800 bucks for what David call, "Some paper and Cardboard. I need groceries!"
This is such a perfect timing. before I watched this video I logged on to see the prices of my freshman year textbooks and I was like "okay, I'll go to that one David so video where he talked about cheaper books because I'm not paying that much" and just when I'm on the channel, this video is up. Perfect Timing.
David you look so great!!! Keep up the good work on staying fit and losing weight because you look amazing and I can tell that all your hard work has really been paying off :D
Back in my college years, one of the annoying things I had to get was remote controls, so you can prove your attendance in class and take quizzes on the overhead. After the class ended, we were stuck with that piece of junk.
Its actually really hard for me to find cheap textbooks even with those sort of sites (which are in fact helpful) because my school gets special copies of the book, professor writes it, or they Make it required to used the newest edition of the book which sometimes you can get away with using an oldone but except for alot of my science courses which require an access code as well which can only be obtained with new books or maybe the newest edition has chapters the old one doesn't and they WILL use it...renting would be a good option sometimes but if the book is new the prices are still so high
Man I hardly ever buy books for college anymore. I rent those or check them out for free from another college's library. Don't know if other states are like this, but most colleges in Illinois allow you to do that. I was so happy when I figured out to do it.
My physics and anatomy lab textbooks cost me $230 each. The lab book just had instructions in it I still had to use regular textbook to learn everything. So I paid $230 for a list of instructions. Colleges are starting to put homework online and that shit is annoying. I forgot to put parenthesis around a problem and missed the question even though it was right. Sometimes a problem says round to 2 decimals places but when you submit the answer and its wrong it shows you the correct answer with 3 decimal places. Its even worse with science classes.
Haha, some of my textbooks are required to be bought brand new full price. I'm in accounting and we have to use a specific book that comes with a subscription to a service where we do homework. Last two of my classes the professor said that the book is mandatory and I ended up not reading it at all and getting an A in class. It was only needed for extra credit smh.
Yo David, fantastic vid as usual. So true on hanging out with the rich college kids. Remember when I was there and went to a club with a few, and they just casually bought a $250 bottle of champagne. Afterwards they asked if I wanted to buy the next round. Never answered a fake phone call so fast in my life.
So True. The only reason the professors know everything about their classes is because hey have seen it and studied it for years! And they expect us to be experts in 3 months! Or if you take summer classes 4-5 weeks!
I remember in one class I took my classmates asked if our final was cumulative and he said no. We take the final just to find out it's cumulative. What was even more fucked up is that he included questions about a topic he liked that wasn't even part of the course, but he talked about it briefly only on day one. Who the hell remembers something that was only talked about that day? It was an early morning class, too!
I buy my books pristine and new but I look for deals. I keep all of my books and I'm glad I did because I keep going back to them for references. I don't have to re-read another book because I know exactly where to find the info I'm looking for. Funnily, I've gone through 5 career changes in the last three years and they are all still relevant.
Textbooks are honestly my biggest irritation. Here's some advice: if your campus bookstore or online retailer has the option to rent the books, and you don't need to keep them for future use...rent them. It will save you SO much money. I took two summer classes this past June, and I rented all of my books for the first time. A book that would have originally cost me $100 or so cost me about $40. And all I had to do was a) take care of the books and b) return them by the due date. Although I do recommend Slugbooks if you have the time to wait for the books to ship (used it before, and it helped a lot).
i always take some random kids textbooks and spend all night taking pictures of each page with my iphone. so worth not spending money
I heart you papa franku!!
FRANKU SENPAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Hi boss
what ever happened to Percy the Pigeon
You watch David B0SS???

I had to pay 700 euro this year which is like a thousand dollars
300 ain't bad
SirChocula sounds exactly like a prof. I had! cough applegate cough
Totally agree. Still haven't bought my books yet because of it. Lol
TOMMYYYYYYYYYYY
Taking general ed classes that have no relation to my career, Oh My God, don't get me started.
I hate that, I'm in college for 2 years for Animation and most of the course I've done so far have nothing to do with my major! general ed classes are a waste of time and money.
And that's how they get paid .. by making us broke off these unnecessary courses
Delilah Dalal exactly college now seems to be more about money than actual education or affordable education for that matter.
They sleep happy every night knowing we are going broke and still not learning a thing for our major
We had four of these foundation level gen ed classes we had to take and it was mandatory, not a choice. They were absolutely pointless and had no value. Such a waste of money ._.
"There are people who survived that shit and even they don't remember."
Perfect.
I'm starting college soon so I have all this to look forward too. Luckily here in Australia college works a lot differently, but books still be expensive as hell.
Yeah same in New Zealand, it's a different education system but the textbooks are still expensive as hell.
Textbooks: expensive in every country. *collective sobbing
***** Random Irish person passing by
Kraikrai Meanwhile in the US, not only are textbooks expensive...so is tuition. ;__;
iBeFloe Yeah, that's the same too, i think these are pretty much worldwide problems lol
i work at a college book store and i reccomend going to the store to copy down the isbn and the prices. We do have used rentals for tons of books which is THE best deal, but if you can find it online cheaper WE WILL BEG YOU NOT TO SPEND TOO MUCH MONEY. Not even us employees want you to waste yo cash.
Legit go on eBay to find my books or find torrents of them lol books are too expensive
God I remember when you told us about slug books for the first time, it saved my broke ass. I graduated college in 2015 and I'm still thankful to David for showing me that website.
6 years later and I still come backto David's videos for emotional healing
I have a B.S in Psychology but can't find a job in anything... Not even as a bank teller. Can we talk about that? It's probably attributed to my non exisiting work experience... But still, it shouldn't be this hard.
I used to be interested in psychology until I heard that if you want an actual job, you need to do a Masters and Ph.D (to become a psychologist and thus guarantee yourself a job)... I suggest you either follow that rout or hurry up and get some experience in any admin/secretary kind of job. it helps.
good luck! you'll need it! :)
You majored in Psychology what did you think was going to happen -_-
You ONLY majored in Psychology?
You fool. A psychology degree isn't going to get you ANYWHERE unless you get ANOTHER degree to pair with it.
Like for example...a teaching degree. Or a masters.
Did no one tell you that a Psych degree is shit unless you pair it up with another degree...?
iBeFloe Apparently? Many students still come from generations of parents that grew up in times where you were guaranteed a good job as long as you had a college degree, regardless of what subject it was in. Unless you have a PhD in Pysch, it's worthless.
Dude you're the only youtuber that has not failed to make me laugh in every single video😂
I'm starting college tomorrow, any tips guys?
Where a condom to prevent STD's.
You're at the bottom of the college food chain.
Rudy Perez I already do that lol
Aaron J thanks for the feedback dude.
Use chegg for books and rate my professor for teachers trust me these two make all the difference
-3rd year college student
I couldn't agree more. Quite spot on.
I hate professors that say that we "will use" the textbook, but only use two pages from it. NO! THAT'S NOT USING IT!
Great textbook info! Discounted and rental textbooks are the way to go.

"You know damn well if you buy a textbook from a friend and that book looks brand new...He's dumb as F*ck" lmao this got me.
Damn David! Hard work really does pay off! Keep it up homie!
just found these videos this guy is hilarious and the information is so true. love it!

David, thank you so much for making this video, I'm going to college tomorrow and I really needed this.
the worst thing about college is that the teachers really give 0 fucks about you.
True but that makes the ones that do, the best.
Your progresss is really showing david! Great job and keep up the amazing workk :)
haha aw im soo glad college is done and over for me :( i used to be likr those college textbook drugdealers that stalked people in the bookstore. "pssst...you want that law book? ill sell it for $50". bought all my textbooks on amazon and if it wasn't available.. i made photocopies. x__x

Not one but I've had a set of textbooks and equipment that ran me a total of $300 for that class. Fuckin' O-Chem.
I did, when your a science major pretty much every book costs that much.
They vary depending on class and type of book. I've paid as much as 250 because we HAD to buy new for the code for a learning website. I rent now if I can.

As a recent college graduate, not that your other vlogs aren't funny, but this is one of the funniest vlogs I've seen. Great work, David!
My middle name is Bich . . . :(
I'm sorry for all the bullying u might have gotten lol
Mine too :)
Well my middle name was phuc so..... I understand having a bad middle name Lol
There is no 'T' William Chen
Im not vietnamese dude... But yeah its uncommon

Re watching this. David so comedy needs his own night show or something. He's funny as shitttttt xD
I love how worked up and passionate you get in your videos haha! p.s looking good, keep up the work!
I fucking hated cumulative finals.

Me: Is the final cumulative or not?
Instructor: Of course it's cumulative.
Me: GOD FUCKING DAMNIT! *slams book down*
David you look great! congratulations on the weight loss! xx
I hate college. I'm always stressed, I don't have any close friends and I'm always tired. My anxiety makes everything A LOT worse!
Just check out your books from the uni library or find a free PDF online. (or just borrow from a friend). I'm a senior and I've rarely had to buy.
David So! Loved you at UCF!
I use that websites for textbooks! A long time ago you mentioned it in another video, so I checked it out and it was really helpful!
...You want to buy textbook full price so you can write inside notes and read it after few years if you have to..
Yeah because a couple years from now I'm gonna pull that dusty ass book out of my storage closet and read it... LIKE FUCK I WILL. zemphyre That is why internship/externship experience is so crucial. That way, you have a potential network of possible employers and connections.
Look at some textbooks you've had in the past. Have you ever touched it beyond the class? If so, you're in the minority.
I like this room you are in. The red is a nice color.
Will definitely be using slugbooks in a few months!
OH MY GOD DAVID YOU ARE LOOKING SUAVE!!!!!
You too.
Love the new look in the background, wish I could like this video SOOOO many more times, also, looking good David.
how does he get himself so HD and the background so blurry???
He's David his large body is like duh sun.
He has his camera focused.

Been away from youtube for 2 months and daaaamn you've lost so much weight! well done man, looking good
brooo imagine all the money textbook authors get...
You mean your professors? Some teachers write their own books and require students to buy them. I hated them so much.
alex li and u made a good point there sir !
$200 for a bunch of writing on some dang papers ! Even access codes are expensive and u only use them for one semester!
Textbook authors actually don't get much money from the books they write. It's actually the publishers if I remember correctly that get all the money.
At my college there are professors that are authors of certain textbooks, so they would force kids taking their classes to purchase or rent their books. The situation got so bad that the general consul of our college wrote a policy that forced professors to stop doing that.

I hated dealing with financial aid. everything else was great. If anyone is a college student, I'm sure they have been there with financial aid too.
omg textbook drug dealers always roaming around the library. They're shady af
Moving out for college tomorrow and so nervous/excited!
2:39 Wait.... IT COSTS $1 TO GET BEATEN!!!!
Nice avatar!

I like how you make this vlog a day before I start college, David! Thanks for this video!
You look fresh, David, nice hair! Woooooooooow!
I just loved this video it cracks me up every time (and thanks for the textbook tip- i probably wouldn't know where to get them) ^^~
Now I'm scared of going to college......
Is it just me or did he lose some weight?
He did lose weight he has a side series talking about too.
At the yacht part I choked on my water cause it was that funny. Couldn't breathe for a bit there. Thanks for almost killing me David.
Deion S This video scares me xDD
XD nice
There are professors that take questions from previous tests for the cumulative exam and it's like *angel chorus* because you just need flash area and to memorize.
David lookin supa thin now.
OMG David you made SOOOO MUCH progress with your body! LOOKING GOOD!
And my dumb ass just bought a book...
You have to buy full price because of custom editions and one time only use access codes for online hw
Davids videos always bring tears to my eyes and I always find myself stammering and not being able to breathe. This shit is hilarious!!!
thank you so much for the textbook info david! i start college next year!
"I'm sweating." "No hunny-child, you ain't gonna sweat today. You ain't gonna sweat today! Uh-uh!" looooool
You should make a compilation of all the bloopers from your FFF and vlog videos :D
Keep up the good work on staying fit and losing weight because you look amazing and I can tell that all your hard work has really been paying off :D
omg this video relates to me because I'm a college freshman about to buy books! thanks David!
David you're looking great! Awesome progress.
Dave! You need to make a video about your sneaker collection. Yeah I see them on the shelves behind you.
Back in my college years, one of the annoying things I had to get was remote controls, so you can prove your attendance in class and take quizzes on the overhead. After the class ended, we were stuck with that piece of junk.
Slugbooks was my BAE. Loved this vid. Very realistic perception to the "All American" college experience
Omg! The results of your diet and workouts paid off, David!!! Keep it up!! :)
looking good david! keep up the good workk! haha hilarious video as usual
Man I hardly ever buy books for college anymore. I rent those or check them out for free from another college's library. Don't know if other states are like this, but most colleges in Illinois allow you to do that. I was so happy when I figured out to do it.
I hear you about the textbooks. Crazy expensive without a doubt. By the way, go Encyclopedia and Britannica lol.
Hands down, one of the funniest vlog ever! 😂😂😂 I love you David
0:07 hnnnnng deep voice and smile *internally implodes*
Textbooks are honestly my biggest irritation. Here's some advice: if your campus bookstore or online retailer has the option to rent the books, and you don't need to keep them for future use...rent them. It will save you SO much money. I took two summer classes this past June, and I rented all of my books for the first time. A book that would have originally cost me $100 or so cost me about $40. And all I had to do was a) take care of the books and b) return them by the due date. Although I do recommend Slugbooks if you have the time to wait for the books to ship (used it before, and it helped a lot).
Damn bruh lookin slim!! Keep it up man, much love and respect!
I would buy books used or sometimes buy the international paper back version. It was WAY cheaper, too.
David, you're looking so good!!! Working hard!
