- Correction: The video incorrectly states the number of crew member applicants a year. Emirates receives approximately 144,000 applicants a year. The video incorrectly states that only veteran and first class attendants get to staff events. Any level Cabin Crew can staff events, not just limited to first class or veteran crew. Insider regrets the errors.
Emirates Airline has over 20,000 flight attendants in their cabin crew. We spoke with Siti Nurazlin to see what it's like to be a first-class flight attendant for the luxury airline.

What It Takes To Be A First Class Flight Attendant For Emirates
Why am I watching this I don’t want to be a first class flight attendant
Bruh same!
I wanted to be a flight attendant when I was in 10th grade. All it took was 1 flight with bad turbulence for me to go.........”NOPE!” 🤣
Because it's an interesting topic, you don't have to commit to everything you find interesting, you just watch it for entertainment, stop commenting worthless comments that have no value whatsoever and say something that's actually meaningful.

I would love to work at Emirates. But the thing is you have to live in UAE if you want to work there. But it’s so close LIKE RLLY CLOSE to all the Middle East wars that’s going on there. I think UAE has a treaty with all of those countries or smth that they’re neutral in that fight but I just can’t live so close to a war zone. All the hate, violence, and fear that you might die. I mean, you might die any day but living so close to there makes it feel like your random everyday die chance went up by like 20% or smth. I just dunno…

I was staying in a hotel in Dusseldorf about ten years ago. Just doing a little vacation time, and splurged on a VERY nice hotel near the airport. @@raihassan3683 What? What's your point? I'm saying the standard of living is different. A water bottle in the US can be anywhere from $1.50 to $3 depending on where you buy it
@@seagatie depends. I can go to my grocery store and get a bottle of water for 25 cents, and I live in a pretty good area near Chicago. If you get a bottle at a restaurant or stand, it will be 1 follar, sometimes 2. Only 3 and more if it is some fancy water or something.

I had a roommate once who was hired by Emirates, she was really tall beautiful and smart. Getting hired wasn't easy for her because she had to compete, she had to have straight A's for her grades, she had to struggle maintaining her figure and keep her make up on fleek. I witnessed her crying at night because her stomach hurts from not eating, or crying while studying. She also had to learn numerous languages every year. We cheered when we found out that she'd been asked to do interviews for a shitton of airline companies and all her efforts made it all worth it.
I hope she's doing fine rn

Bullshit. Numerous languages per year. Lmao
It all looked like fun and games until she said 32k a year.
I thought so too but then I realised that if their housing is paid for and accomodation/meals every time they have a layover (which often last multiple days) then really the perks do reduce an insane amount of expenses. So it’s actually a pretty good offer
Starting salary*
The starting salary for a new pilot is similar
Average Alien for a pilot is closer to 100k. Depending on the airline it’s like 80-96k
Since their housing is taken care of, and if they are living on their own, the pay is not bad.
Luis Campos the world is not only US, Europe, Canada and Australia. for most countries it’s a great salary. for example, the medium nurse salary in Russia is 3k per year.
moreover, they cover housing and transfer
one of my mom's close friend was a flight attendant for emirates. whenever I see her everytime in person, I am always amazed how she always looks beautiful and tall. she is a single mother, separated with her husband who still lives with her daughter so that someone could take care of her. her daughter and her was not close at all because of lack of time together. my mom's close friend retired after more than 10 years of service with emirates. she retired and saved up enough money. she was so stressed and gained a lot of sickness. she also had to get operation for her spinal cord and it went well. now, she is spending most of her time with her daughter and got back with his ex husband.
Thanks for sharing. And also I am glad the story has a nice ending.
To the people saying 32k a year is meh: That's for an entry level job that only requires a highschool diploma, speaking English, and some customer service experience (plus the physical stuff like height and overall health). You pay no income tax, no rent, no bills, no transportation to the airport. You also get a per diem in cash whenever you stay out of base (4/6 times a month) which ranges from around $40 to $120, depending on the destination. You get unlimited flights at 90% off. Most crew come from countries where the annual salary doesn't even reach 5k a year. Yeah, Dubai is expensive buy if you live frugally and make the most of the perks (say, buy some of your groceries in a cheaper country when you're on a work trip), you can save a big chunk of your salary. And in comparison, most airlines in Europe pay less than 15k a year.
On the flip side, the job is extremely demanding physically and, ultimately, mentally, and the company culture is a whoooooole thing altogether (there's plenty of info online). Also, the flashy events are only for the "business promotion" crew, a select group of pretty people that goes through another selection process. Source: I used to be cabin crew for them.
PS: this is all pre-pandemic. I'm absolutely sure the post-pandemic new hires will have much worse contracts.

Yeah, can't stress this enough, but many people from the U.S don't open up to cultures or even care to learn multiple languages bc either laziness or limited world view.. beggining by the fact they call their country America when it's not the biggest country in America, nor the best one
Emirates is a flight from the uae, genius 🤦♀️
zenv Seeing that a large part of Americans are required to take foreign language classes. Also seeing the that many colleges and careers require foreign languages. Especially the Ivy Leagues and really good colleges. Also seeing that I know French and I am Spanish. Also seeing that a large portion of immigrants speak a language besides English. Also seeing that places like Louisiana and Florida have both Spanish and French Influence. Also seeing that Many Americans except other’s cultures and languages. I don’t see how America and Americans don’t open up to and accept new cultures.
AnAristotelian they actually learn other languages 😂
English being the first one
I think they learn English since they are in kindergarten
And for my experience in Mexico
We are taught English since kindergarten as well. The only problem is that (most) of the teachers really do not care about children so we only really learn the basics
But places like Korea or China
If you talk to an stranger in English they can understand most of what you’re saying

Well it's not an actual qualification because that's impossible to measure, but they definitely take that into account when choosing

My first choice go to airline always, so much respect for the staff always, back in the air again in the next few months God willing.
I used to work as a flight attendant for Air Canada and while they are not on the level of emirates, it really reminds me of how much a flight attendant truly knows. bugs me a lot when people only view them as "private waitresses" because they are truly Sooooo much more than that. they are the ones saving your lives in an emergency and the preparation alone that goes into that is VERY intense and stressful. They have all my respect. shout out to all the fellow flight attendants of the world! You do ALOT, and we thank you
I bet every flight attendant has a story about “that passenger”

Love flying with Emirates and Etihad used to fly with Singapore. Pretty safe trips
I still don't understand why airlines insist their crew wear high heels.
(edit: I get that heels are considered 'more professional' but you can find professional looking flats)

This is a very hectic job, you gotta be fit, maintain proper weight and always ready. There's no fixed schedule for you, some time you stay in a hotel for 2-3 days, next u'll fly for 2-3 days with a break of few hours in-between. Don't forget about people like trump who'll sexually assault you in no time. Becoming a high school teacher is far better than this job.

no our main language is arabic but it's required to know English first at least

(I'm talking about the Airline not the country, the UAE's main language _is_ Arabic)

I had this vague dream of becoming a flight attendant once. I match most requirements with a height of 5'7, fairly strong for a woman, learn technical stuff quickly, can look the part appearance-wise when required, can serve food, no fear of flying/heights, fluently trilingual, two VERY tiny tattoos that are easily covered up, and a huge urge to travel. But I don't think I could handle the actual day-to-day life stress that is not shown in videos like these: A$$hole customers, turbulence to the point that it affects your work up in the sky, being on a very short notice for departures, not getting all the goody-goody luxury flights at once but instead flying within the country serving standard/economy with no extra benefits, etc etc. I do get that you gotta work your way up but it's basically a life(style) commitment :D
I would love to be a flight attendant: I already speak 4 languages and love to travel. I know all the downsides and really they just seem like upsides to me.
wouldn't you miss your family and friends tho?
@@NotJoegoldberg I make friends wherever I go and yeah, probably my mum but she'd be psyched. I mean... free flights!!! hahaha

Hello! Fellow 4'11"
Requirements for men: shave their face.
Requirements for women: shave their legs, wax her face, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick, foundation, manicure, short skirt, high heels.
That needs to stop, it's not only time and money consuming but also very uncomfortable.
THIS. Woman should be able to freely express themselves while working but still get the job done. I think the only requirements should only be uniform and some makeup. It doesn’t matter if they are wearing pants, a skirt or anything else, as long as they’re recognizable for which company they belong to and appropriate, they can wear anything.
As much as I support feminism, I’ve seen a lot of men being shamed for being a flight attendant. (Men are just as qualified for the job as a woman!)
Jobs like being a flight attendant should be normalized for each sex and should be as equal as possible.
Or maybe don't apply for a job that EXPLICITLY states what the conditions are? How about take some responsibility instead of incessantly complaining?
Calm down. None of what you said...was a requirement. Natural make-up with the red lipstick, no hanging jewelery for obvious reasons, and they got to change into flats on the flight. If they hated it or were against any of it...I bet they wouldn't work so hard to get there.
+SOFIA VELOSO. I think men should have to wear some makeup too, of course not as strong as the woman but at least foundation, eyebrows and mascara - that doesn't make them look female. And they should wear the same uniform, of course pants instead of a skirt, the red hat - that would look good. But only beeing shaven doesn't make someone beautiful.
@@Novarcharesk whats wrong with just stating how unesscary those requirements are dude comon
