What a great tip about making sure when you transplant that you bury the lip of the cardboard container to keep it from drying out! I loved it when you went on trips thru antique stores, would love to see some more of those, have you ever found some really good planters in them?

Hi Allen, I have a large spot of Lime hydrangea. Last year something eaten the flowers. every night they get smaller and smaller no petals then only the scheleton until a dot left on the steam. What can I do to stop this happening this year again. Thank you for your times sharing your knowledge.

Question: Can I plant them just in huge pots and will they grow and continue to bloom year after year without having to transplant them into the ground? Linda Barnes Linda Barnes There is some sand in there. I have a clay base soil, so I had to add some extra amendments in to really loosen the soil. I make a lot of compost and have a lot of chicken 💩 . And I’ve used wood chips, straw, even mixed in shredded newspaper to make my soul blends and to break up the clay. I tilled and mounded heavily before i planted and I apply a layer down on top each year after I trim the stalks and before new growth emerges.
@@PAllenSmith, thank you for the reply! I will get out there and do the same....I too have heavy clay soil and put a lot of compost down but after 4 years, still not a lot of spears....may be too much shade or not enough feeding....will use my chicken poop this year! Thanks again! love your stuff!
I didn't know you can put hydrangeas in pots. Yours were amazing colors just fantastic. I would love to have one in my apartment. Can I do that? They smell so awesome. Love your tips
Carla Wolf they probably wouldn’t do so well for an extended time. But if you had a nice balcony, porch or stoop they could live, and you wanted to bring them in from time to time to enjoy inside, I’d say go for it!!! Keep in consideration the weight of the container (especially when watered) they have some great options out there. Good luck!

Have you ever tried Neem oil for pests in your garden? The Rusted Garden (UA-cam channel) sells this amazing oil. Since it's organic a person has to spray their plants once a week.

I like the storing hand tools in the bucket of sand idea. Could I use a different oil like organic oil?

The reason oil is not food grade, because food oils go bad.

Lots of food great substitutes. Try linseed oil.
