I love the fact that it's in containers. Easy to move. Love the idea. As someone who moves a lot around my country. I can't ever build a decent garden. So containers are my way to go
Since I was a teen it's been one of my dreams. I had started a few years back but a cat. 5 hurricane came, knock down my house so I had to move. Kept trying in the different house that I moved to but no luck, had issues with not enough sun little due to no balcony, too humid or no space. But I have my heart set on trying again this year
I am absolutely fascinated by Natalie, her fantastic garden, her 5 year plan, and her back story. As a renter I am pretty much forced to container garden. And I'm on year 14 of my 5 year plan. 😒 Getting closer though. Would love to see more videos from her!!!
Wow Natalie! I love how she uses a Tri- Gardening method: 1. One Flower; 2. One Vegetable; One Fruit! Kevin, way to push through the interview, to keep it under 20 mins. Very informative!
I'm now going to add two more things to my buckets! So far I have escallion and sweet peppers in one but the others are single plants so....time to plant.
She's so organized and she can identify everything so quickly and easily! I'm so impressed and jealous of her 😅 No hate, Natalie, just wish I had all your skills. I loved this episode, please do more with Natalie!
Kindred heart with Natalie there. I completely understand trying to extract the positive things from that experience and leave the negative behind. Early on its hard to not throw the baby out with the bathwater in an effort to just get away. Much love.
Thanks for saving the rabbit stew part until the end. I have pet rabbits and I didn't want to see that, but I did want to see the entire garden part of the video.
I was feeling a little envious of others, since my backyard is shaded, which forces me to grow everything in containers in my driveway (skirting/thumbing my nose at HOA regs). She is such an inspiration! Haven't used grow bags yet but I definitely will!
Check your state statues. I live in Florida and we have a statute that supersedes HOA rules that basically says they can’t prevent you from growing your own food.
This makes me feel so much better about the number of plants I've stuffed into all of my grow bags lol. I've kind of been assuming all my plants are going to die from overcrowding but Natalie has given me hope that I can continue to buy too many plants without consequences. I would love to see a video about all the different common garden plants you can grow from cuttings!
Thank you for showing a garden grown on a budget! I use recycled items and grow a lot from cuttings and seeds. I love her interplanting. That’s the way I garden too.I used to do mostly container gardening. Thankfully, I now have much more space. But I still garden on the cheap! Please keep adding budget-friendly gardens to your channel.
Natalie ....thanks for sharing what you learned from your grandparents/parents so that we get to benefit from that time depth of knowledge. I think of nuanced gardening as a lost art.( Co-planting, etc ).... Excited to start some containers this spring!
What a ray of sunshine Natalie is. She has such a optimistic upbeat personality and inspiration to those who don't have the biggest gardens or great soil. you have a great team Kevin.👍❤️
I like the idea of planting several crops in one container. As chill as Natalie is, she's very goal oriented and makes gardening look easy, just like you, Kevin!
I love Natalie! Short gardeners unite lol. I'm also 5'2" and I have grow bags. I have grown all kinds of things in them. I will say I made the mistake of getting 20 gallon and they are too big and heavy to move most of the time. I like the 10 gallon ones better. 15 gallon should be the max size if you plan on moving the bags frequently. One of my questions is how does she cheaply fill the bags? Garden dirt can get pretty expensive and filling all those containers can get pretty expensive.
Idk how the price compares to other options, but I mix my own soil from the free city compost, coir and perlite. Let me know if you want the ratio of ingredients!
Really appreciate what Natalie shared about her container garden. Might need to rewatch the show a couple more times to fully understand all the details. Thank you!
My grandmother in Houston had a loquat tree and I fell in love with them. We made anything and everything you can think of with them but my favorite was making jelly. They're pretty popular in SE Texas.
I am leading toward containers gardening for back yard due to the hill I have as part of septic tank front yard is flat so will start a fall garden in front yard this year. I love her gardening plans.
More on Natalie and how she feed's and water's her lovely garden? Love the movement of the plants from shade to sun, and the colorful sections, she's full of garden wisdom would love to see and hear more, thanks for sharing your garden Natalie with us!
How fun!!! You all should do the challenge! It seems like you could all share food and grow lots of fun things and have meat chickens and rabbit and eggs- a two to three week challenge would not be too bad. ❤
Totally random, but I gotta say, the colour grading on this video is so gorgeous 👌 The palette with the muted sky, those green containers, even Kevin's outfit. Reminds me of a Wes Anderson film.
I've been wanting to start a garden in my backyard but the process, starting from scratch, is overwhelming to me. This container thing seems to be my answer. Thanks for sharing her wonderful garden.
Bernie Cat, 36 years ago, I started with a very small area, maybe 4' x 6', maybe a tad bit larger. I placed containers around the outer part of that area. I had Gardenia and Rose bushes, and a few other things in the ground. I grew various tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, cucumber in the containers. It was sooo much fun! I was amazed by what I could grow. And I LOVED that little garden, my first. I only grow in containers. You, too, can do this. Start small with only 6 containers maximum. Have fun, and Enjoy the experience.
Container gardening is a great way to start! Last year I did container gardening on my patio in LA. I had flowers, herbs and one tomato. You learn so much just from starting. Now I have two raised beds in E TN and a bunch of containers with potatoes, tomatoes, herbs, flowers, and strawberries. You have to start somewhere! Good luck!
WOW!!! she just changed my whole view on gardening and i haven’t planted in my grow bags yet but i will be inter planting everything with flowers especially!!!
The apocalypse grow challenge you did is one of the first videos I saw of yours that got me into the channel. So I'm really looking forward to a 2022 version, would love to see Jacques do one as well at the same time.
The self sufficient part of the cult (which i believe to know the name of) is pretty life changing. That's got to be the best feeling in the world when you come home with a meal in mind and have all the ingredients to prepare it.
I respect everyone with container gardens! I personally prefer in-ground but everyone I've seen with containers does such a beautiful job and always do it for practicality which is awesome
What an encouragement! So many people think that container gardening is somehow less than any other type of gardening, that is absolutely false! You can do pretty much the same with container gardening as any other type as seen in this awesome video !
Natalie's garden is such an inspiration and reminds me a lot of my own! I'm still living with my parents while in college so my garden is a bit limited and a lot in containers but one of the first things I added was backyard livestock: coturnix quail and rabbits. I think raising your own meat, if you can handle it, is such a good step towards self sufficiency and it feels great to have that kind of connection with where your food comes from. Rabbits (and also quail!) are such a great sustainable meat and fertilizer source if you can get over how cute they are. Loved the garden and interplanting tips, and seeing all the rabbit stew ingredients!
This garden is right up my alley, I have horrible soil so I have been using just grow bags, now, if I could figure out how to fence my garden on the cheap, I would be all set! I love her garden!!
Go Natalie! I applaud her harvesting of rabbits (I can’t do it). I’m good with gardening but the best I can do meat wise is pull marine life out of water. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to handle chickens, cows, etc. they’d become pets on day one.
I love the Inter planting, if one thing does not do great another will. The flowers are beautiful. I spent 22 years in a cult. There are thousands of them. She is not alone!.
Wow I absolutely loved and enjoyed watching this so much!!! With all the weirdness going on like, food shortages, this was such an inspiration to see. Just goes to show how much you can do with so little. Awesome video and hopd to see more stuff like this on your channel!!

This was such a great video. I really like Natalie’s garden. I too have lots of containers in my garden. Love the idea of three plants in each container. I usually just do basil in my tomato containers, but I think I will add a small pollinator now.
I love her garden! Inspired by Epic Gardening and Jacques I have added a few flowers to the garden this year and I was so busy I had no time to label my plants so thinking I was planting sunflowers (I learned which ones to use from Epic Gardening) here and there, I planted some funny kind of tomatoes instead. (Seeds were a gift from a friend). Interplanting by coincidence. Our neighbour now has problems with his beautiful tomato plants being slayed by mole crickets, and trying to google out a solution for him I learned that my somewhat chaotic gardening with flowers all over and different types of plants growing together creates an environment where mole crickets don't want to live.

you are both amazing!! I've spent probably most on soil as well. I actually went from 10 tomatoes to 25 to over 70+ all thanks to your tips and love giving them away tp friends. I feel as the best thing in gardening is sharing your accomplishments.
I had to remove an established Loquat from my back yard several years ago because it was too close to the back door and the dang Starlings loved it! I miss it, but I don't miss the mess. I like Natalie's reuse of containers. I have about 15 mixed paper recycling bins (HDPE) that have become planters or support for my grow bags.
This is like super encouraging because I don’t have much space from a grass standpoint but I can do this a lot better having containers that can be moved to capture more sun.

I would totally watch a Homesteading Channel created by Natalie! I admire homesteaders and independent lifestyles.
She needs to be frequent guest on Epic. This interview can be divided into 3 parts. Everything went too fast.
YES I agree! Do it! Do it! Go Natalie!!!
Yes a homestead section by Natalie would be amazing!
