so sorry! Prayers for you! i have a couple sealed copies of some of his albums! i listen to his stuff on youtube but i really don't want to break that seal! i think they are treasures to me!
Operator Bad Bad Leroy Brown You Don't Mess Around With Jim I'll Have To Say I love You in a Song Jim had such a great career ahead of him, so sad he died so young. His songs are all such great stories told perfectly with his amazing voice. Great reaction Harri and Tevian. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Not the place to go into detail but AJ had a very troubled childhood after his dad’s passing and, as an adult, he’s also suffered the tragedy of his own wife passing at a young age, leaving him a single parent to their kids.
This guy is a legend for me. I love acoustic guitar and that's what he does. I could listen to him all the time. I wish we could hear what his music would have been like had he had the opportunity...
Delightful Harri , your friend's insights . This one does have a tinge of melancholy , but underscores the deep significance of our precious time , against the backdrop of eternity . 50 years after first hearing this , it still impacts . Utter classic .
I cried…. So beautiful and full of truth, the meaning of true love from human nature perspective, because our time here is so precious and short, but we don’t realize it…
Croce and Chapin taken way too young. Both masters of the craft. Croce did the short form, Chapin the long but both told an entire story with pathos and intricate melody.
Jim Croce was one of my favorites when I was in my 20's. He had so many wonderful songs and this is one of the prettiest. Thanks for introducing him to a new audience.
I must tell you in my home state of Tennessee while in my first music class the teacher said today we will listen to Jim Croce and Barbara Streisand. Looking back in 1973 I realized just what a valuable lesson it was to hear this song and to this day I still cherish it.Thank you two gentleman for appreciating it.
I remember when I heard the news he'd just died. I was 16, driving home from the orthodontist. His career was just peaking and everybody loved Jim. I was shaken. Thanks for sharing his music with your viewers.
Interesting ... I don't hear John Denver at all but I hear Simon & Garfunkel. Loved Harri and Tevian's conversation as much as the song, and I love the song a lot! Great pick Harri.
What a warm friendship you have with Tevian, always fun to share new music with a good friend. Love this sweet tune by Jim Croce, really miss him. Thanks Harri and Tevian.
I love the song, and the open minds and ears of you guys. Your friendship is apparent and appreciated. You seem like fast friends. A gift in this world. Have a great day!
Hi Harri, I really enjoy watching and listening to your conversations with Tevian. I would guess that it must be as much fun for you to see his reaction to new singers and songs as it is for your listeners to see YOUR reaction to the same. I guess it goes without saying, but due to the large size of the USA and Canada, so many artists have died in plane crashes trying to get to gigs especially in smaller towns.
I read where Jim Croce, said to his wife, "I made more money in construction. This is going to be my last gig." [Because his manager was stealing all his money]. His last gig, the plane crashes, and he's killed. Died: September 20, 1973 (aged 30)
This song also featured in the former television series, Heartbeat in the episode “ Thief in the Night “ when the main character, Nick Rowan ( played by Nick Berry) loses his wife, Kate ( played by Niamh Cusack ) as she succumbs to leukaemia in the night. Prior to this in the episode, they go on a picnic like they used to with their infant daughter, and this plays on the track. Very poignant song, 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s were some of the best eras for music.
Jim Croce left us some wonderful music. Jim had both novelty type songs about characters and more meaningful songs like this one, all of which were great.
Jim Croce wrote this reflective song the night that he found out his wife, Ingrid, was pregnant. The couple had been married for five years, and Ingrid found out she was pregnant when she went to a fertility specialist
Unless I'm mistaken, Jim Croce recorded this song in 1973 for his wife. He died in a plane crash later that year. This song takes on an is almost haunting when you think about that. Jim Croce was a rare talent.
Great observations here. Now please , someone with Hari's ear ask him to do Netherlands by Dan Fogelberg. I want to watch his face try to grasp it all.
This song was written to his wife. He was very in love with her and their beginning family. I can only imagine what heights he could have gone to had he lived.
I also watched The video of you reacting to Indian Reservation by Paul Revere & The Raiders Featuring Mark Lindsay who sang the song. Your reaction was spot on.
While Jim Croce did play guitar on the records and live, it was Maury Muehleisen who’s playing the distinctive finger picking guitar. They both died in the plane crash.
Hi! Harri. Amazing song so timeless and good. I like it! 👍 Top song from Sweden 1989. You needs reacts to is Niklas Strömstedt & Anne-Lie Rydé - En kvinna och en man. A masterpiece Anne-Lie Rydé singing like an angel from heaven! 🌠🎵🎤 Have a great day music lovers! 🙂
I agree that this song should be short and sweet. You can’t improve on perfection by adding another verse. It’s beautiful as is. Of all Jim Croce’s songs, this one is the hardest one to listen to without getting a little choked up. Released on album in 1972, he would be gone the next year.
Jim Croce wrote this song the evening his wife told him she was pregnant after they had been trying to conceive for a while and finally resorted to fertility treatments. I believe it was only a couple of months later that he was killed in a plane crash 😢
Like hearing you two discuss the music you grew up on and how you're exploring new to you sounds. I feel like I'll be doing that all my life. Recently I'm exploring metal (via Disturbed), and a Chinese rapper Zi Tao (mostly in Mandarin, but it's the sound and vocals (so I'm not trying to understand).
I totally get the John Denver sound reaction. Similar voices. Jim Croce left wrote this song for his wife and 3 year old son and died not long afterwards. His son is a musician/singer and he did not want to do any of his fathers' songs until he was close to the age his father was when he died.
I like "Operator", by Croce. John Denver, really? I don't like any Denver, songs, but I love Jim Croce. 👍 I'd say a little more like Neil Young, type sound.
credit for a lot of the excellent guitar work on this and other songs of croce's belongs to maury muehleisen, who was killed in the same plane crash that killed jim croce.
TOTALLY off topic...but I'd LOVE you to react to Alice in Chains (particularly the MTV unplugged set) and react to Layne Staley (vocals)(RIP), Jerry Cantrell (guitar & secondary vocals), Mike Inez (bass) & Sean Kinney (drums)
Loved this guy. Love the song cuz it’s beautiful. Hate the song cuz it was played at my wedding. Oh well. I picked a beautiful song lol. The guy, not so much
Now I'm imagining a person who pronounces all their t's, and all their r's, what an odd duck that would be, a misfit in British and American societies.
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Jim Croce was badass.
I played this song at my husband's funeral. My husband died too young, and Jim Croce was an artist we both really liked.
so sorry! Prayers for you! i have a couple sealed copies of some of his albums! i listen to his stuff on youtube but i really don't want to break that seal! i think they are treasures to me!
We had it played at my Dad's funeral in 1980.
God bless you
Jim was a great story weaver. Lost too soon.
Operator
Bad Bad Leroy Brown

I'll Have To Say I love You in a Song
Jim had such a great career ahead of him, so sad he died so young. His songs are all such great stories told perfectly with his amazing voice. Great reaction Harri and Tevian. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
This song was for his little boy AJ who is now touring as AJ Croce
Not the place to go into detail but AJ had a very troubled childhood after his dad’s passing and, as an adult, he’s also suffered the tragedy of his own wife passing at a young age, leaving him a single parent to their kids.
@@John_Chu His mom's boyfriend abused him so badly that he lost his vision for 6 years. But his music is good also.
This guy is a legend for me. I love acoustic guitar and that's what he does. I could listen to him all the time. I wish we could hear what his music would have been like had he had the opportunity...
C B....yes!!!
Jim Croce was in a class of his own. His son AJ has some pretty good stuff too but not enough views.
Delightful Harri , your friend's insights .
This one does have a tinge of melancholy , but underscores the deep significance of our precious time , against the backdrop of eternity .
50 years after first hearing this , it still impacts .
Utter classic .
I can see the John Denver connection. For me:
Time In A Bottle = Annie's Song
And plane crashes
One of the G.O.A.T.'s
agreed!
I cried…. So beautiful and full of truth, the meaning of true love from human nature perspective, because our time here is so precious and short, but we don’t realize it…

Just a quick aside: This song was written for his son AJ. He is now a songwriter who, for years, could not sing his fathers songs. He does now.
He was also beaten blind by his "stepdad".
JC's melancholy songs feel like premonitions/warnings.
Your friend would like Operator
I remember when I heard the news he'd just died. I was 16, driving home from the orthodontist. His career was just peaking and everybody loved Jim. I was shaken. Thanks for sharing his music with your viewers.
I loved Croce since I was a little kid growing up in the 80’s. I loved folk rock like this, heavy metal, oldies, Motown, hard rock, etc.
Jim Croce's music must be spread far and wide. There's no bad songs in his collection.
Interesting ... I don't hear John Denver at all but I hear Simon & Garfunkel. Loved Harri and Tevian's conversation as much as the song, and I love the song a lot! Great pick Harri.
This is the song we played at our wedding! I just love it. 🥰
My favorite song of his.
Jim's voice, Maury's guitar, perfection!
Oh good lord, listening to y'all...like me and my best friend. He's gone now, but, it's so nice to have that memory.
I grew up listening to him as my older sister was a big fan. This is my favorite of his. ❤
It warms my heart that you are exploring so many songs and now sharing with your friend.
Jim Croce. Love his music and his voice. This song and Faded Photographs are two of my favorites. He had so much potential and died way too soon.
I fell in love with Jim Croce all my life. I'm 75 and I remember the day he died vividly...
Love this song! I love all his music✌❤🎶
He died the day before this song was released. He died at 30 in an airplane crash. He is from my hometown, Philly, PA This song is about his son.
Again, you two mesh so well together. It really works. I agree that short and sweet can make a great song.
What a warm friendship you have with Tevian, always fun to share new music with a good friend. Love this sweet tune by Jim Croce, really miss him. Thanks Harri and Tevian.
Legendary tune that I sang with my HighSchool choir!
I love the song, and the open minds and ears of you guys.
Your friendship is apparent and appreciated. You seem like fast friends. A gift in this world.
Have a great day!
I love the give and take between you guys! True friends!
The John Denver comment is very astute.
You two are so much fun..

This song was so memorable in X-Men:Days Of Future Past that scene in The Pentagon kitchen is one of My favourite ones.
I read where Jim Croce, said to his wife, "I made more money in construction. This is going to be my last gig."
[Because his manager was stealing all his money].
His last gig, the plane crashes, and he's killed.

a lot of people who are younger then me never did unless they were raised around it oh soo love Jim and Murrys guitars

Jim Croce wrote this reflective song the night that he found out his wife, Ingrid, was pregnant. The couple had been married for five years, and Ingrid found out she was pregnant when she went to a fertility specialist
I loved hearing both reactions. Awesome. And you guys are funny! I liked the way you ended the reaction!
A great reaction! Awesome song from a great artist!

Along with Operator and Hey Tomorrow and Photographs and Memories among his best tunes. Gone waaaayyyy to soon.
The first time I heard this song, it was done by a muso friend, who learned it from a guitar playing lesson book. The lyrics are so beautiful.
This song has always reminded me of Annie's Song by John Denver
Good points and dialog. You both should do this more frequently
Great reaction, thank you!
I also watched The video of you reacting to Indian Reservation by Paul Revere & The Raiders Featuring Mark Lindsay who sang the song. Your reaction was spot on.
Luv this song.
Harry I always love your reactions.... but your friend....I think you brought the wrong guy on LOL
Excellent review guys.
While Jim Croce did play guitar on the records and live, it was Maury Muehleisen who’s playing the distinctive finger picking guitar. They both died in the plane crash.
Entertaining, knowledgeable and congenial. I like your reaction and will subscribe.

Philadelphia guy, still missed here.
you need to do I'll JUst Have To Say I Love You

John Denver was 53 at time of death, Jim Croce was 30.

I'm sure he would like Bad Bad Leroy Brown and Operator (That's not the way it feels).
Also Photographs and Memories one of my favorites.
I totally get the John Denver sound reaction. Similar voices. Jim Croce left wrote this song for his wife and 3 year old son and died not long afterwards. His son is a musician/singer and he did not want to do any of his fathers' songs until he was close to the age his father was when he died.
I knew this song but not who sung it. Good song.
I like "Operator", by Croce.
John Denver, really?
I don't like any Denver, songs, but I love Jim Croce.
👍
I'd say a little more like Neil Young, type sound.
How does he have such a masculine and feminine voice at the same time?
credit for a lot of the excellent guitar work on this and other songs of croce's belongs to maury muehleisen, who was killed in the same plane crash that killed jim croce.

Jim Croce. John Denver and Gordon Lightfoot there are a lot of similarities
Loved this guy. Love the song cuz it’s beautiful. Hate the song cuz it was played at my wedding. Oh well. I picked a beautiful song lol. The guy, not so much
Check out the song Cigarettes Whiskey and wild wild women.
Gone to soon
Listen to Harry Chapin if you haven't already.
Seems like planes kill a lot of our musicians - Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens (same plane as Holly), SRV.
Nothing against John Denver, I like him too but I don’t think Jim Croce sounds anything like him.
Nobody sounds like Jim Croce!
This aughta be good…😅
Check out song OPPERATER
His name is ITALIAN AMERICAN
Now I'm imagining a person who pronounces all their t's, and all their r's, what an odd duck that would be, a misfit in British and American societies.
Harri do you need sufgestions?
No but suggestions would be good. How about Gino Vannilli? There's one. He and Jim Croce were best friends already.
Plane crash.
You pair ruined a beautiful song with your pratel in the middle 👎👎👎
Then you should have watched it somewhere else, this is a reaction channel!
Croce wrote this song for his newborn son, Adrian.
