Jim was killed in a plane crash just one year after he had finally made it and didn’t get to savor his success for very long. His hit “I’ve Got A Name” was released posthumously. That is Jim with his wife and son in the video. One of many artists who lost their lives flying from one show to another entertaining their fans and building their careers. He is missed.
Jim Croce has several songs you will like. My favorite is "Operator"... "Photographs And Memories" will make you cry, he died shortly after it was recorded.
Jim Croce wrote this song about his son who was around 2 at the time. Around 3 months later he was killed in a plane crash. He had so many good songs. Try some other ones. He was so good.
The video was with his son and wife-the song was for his son after he learned that his wife was pregnant-this song was released right after Jim's death in a plane crash-song went to number one
OMG, this is only the 2nd time I've seen this video. The first was right after he was killed in the plane crash on The Midnight Special as a tribute. We cried our eyes out at such a loss. His son, A. J., is now a singer/songwriter/musician, just like his dad. He was gone too quick; I can only imagine how many more beautiful songs he would've bestowed on us. (psst it's pronounced Crow-Chee 😉 )
Jim met a fate similar to Buddy Holly before him, and Lynyrd Skynyrd's Ronnie van Zant after, when he died in a plane crash just as his music career was finally succeeding. He was a gifted songwriter. Next check out "Operator", "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" and "You Don't Mess Around with Jim". And thanks for hearing the whole song before you react. You rock, JMBoy!
He wrote that song after his son was born. Telling him he never has enough time to spend with him because he was always on the road. Jim was your classic story teller. Much like John Denver. (Who wrote "Calypso" in honor of Jaques Cousteau.)
Pronunciation is Crow-chee. So wonderful to see Jim and family. His son AJ was 8 days short of his 2nd birthday when his father died. AJ is now 52 years old. AJ is touring now singing his father's songs. ❤❤❤❤. JIM was only 30 years old when he passed away in the plane crash.
I used to love to come home late on a Friday or Saturday night and just took everything down a notch or two with Jim Croce ore Gordon Lightfoot. Jim's lead guitar player Maurice Muehleisen is so good it often had the opposite effect. I'd get all wound up about the lead. It was another crushing loss when he was killed. So many. Jim Croce. Harry Chapin. Stevie Ray Vaughan. Loved hearing this great song with you.
Music can be poetry for the soul - and this is one of those songs that has a way of touching your heart. Beauatiful song with a heartbreaking back story. Thanks for playing it.
Jim Croce is fantastic…. He was basically a folk/rock artist, great vocalist…. Became very popular in the 70’s. Other songs by him- Bad bad Leroy Brown, Operator, You Don’t Mess Around with Jim….. he has several great songs!
Last name pronounced ( Crow-chee). He was amazing. That was his real wife and son in the video, and the big farmhouse they had dreamed of. He finally could provide it.
We had a soloist play this one at our wedding. It was in the summer of '77 at the church/school we went to. We first met the 1st day of first grade. Not a dry eye in the church! It was high mass too.
Ok dating myself, Jim Croce’s greatest hits was my very first 8 track, I bought off of Columbia music. Even have the whole album on my karaoke Road trip playlist.
He actually wrote it for his son. At the time, he was enslaved to the road because he hadn't made any record money, and he had a newborn son who he hardly ever saw.
This song was supposed to be the song my dad and danced to at my wedding, but sadly he passed away, so my husband and I borrowed it as our wedding song until we could find one of our own. My brother and I danced to landslide, with him in place of my dad.
Not only did Jim die in that plane crash, so did his guitar partner, Maury Muehleisen, who provided all of the tasty highlights on the guitar. The boy is his son AJ and he is a very talented musician and singer as well and is worth checking out.
This is a great song. Most people dont know that Jim was going to quit the music buisiness after this tour. Unfortunately fate stepped in a took him from us
This is such a sad story with Jim dying not long after making it. Later his widow got involved with a man that beat the son, AJ so badly that he lost his sight. I believe he's gotten some of it back. AJ is playing his dad's music and like Elvis and Lisa Marie Presley, they've compiled some of the music so it seems they're singing together.
You should hear his son AJ singing “That’s Me at the Bar”. You should read up on AJ. He plays piano and his sight was almost taken from him. You should see the documentary that was done on Jim. Croce…. Pronounced CROW-SHE
This is one of my all time favorite songs. Jim has so many great songs I hope you go down this rabbit hole. This is another artist that left us way to soon . Rip Jim Great reaction!
Jim Croce was one of Americas greatest singer/songwriters ever! He was taken too soon. This song came out the same year he passed away in a plane crash on 9/20/1973. He was only 30 years old. He was headed from Louisiana to Dallas Texas. I was 19 years old at the time and many of us felt a Hughe loss due to how his music impacted us as high school students in the early 70s. RIP Jim Croce, you left us with great memories and songs.
the terrible irony of this song is that, not long after this film was shot and the song was released, he was killed in a plane crash, along with his guitarist, maury muehlheiser. there really wasnt enough time for him. :/ :(
Are you open to Google pronounce names before filming. Croce (Crow-chee) and Seger (See-Grrr.) are often mispronounced by blind reactors. Just a thought.
Jim Croce has a lot of awesome songs. My rule of thumb, ANY song featured in a Quentin Tarantino movie is GREAT! ('"I've Got a Name"). Also Great - "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" "You Don't Mess Around With Jim" "I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song" "Operator" **"Fun Fact *** Jim's widow wrote a cookbook called "Thyme in a Bottle" 😆 (His name is pronounced CROW-chee ❤

C ROC HEE grocery C.H.E!Ese c h e e😅😊😊😅😅
Likewise with Stevie Ray Vaughn. His career was just taking off for stardom when the heli crash occurred.
This song will get you in the feels. Genius cut short by a tragedy 💔
Jim’s son (the one he wrote this song for) is actually on tour now singing his dad’s songs. He just came through our area about a month ago.
That's awesome.
'Operator' and 'I've Got A Name' are also great songs.
"Crow chee" is the correct pronunciation. Good reaction as always!
This great guy was only 30 when he passed away bro. So tragic. Love this guy!!!
He was outrageously funny too. I love "Rapid Roy the Stockcar Boy" and "Roller Derby Queen." The lyrics are priceless and fun!
Jim Croce has several songs you will like. My favorite is "Operator"... "Photographs And Memories" will make you cry, he died shortly after it was recorded.
I can't listen to Photographs and Memories without a box of tissue on hand.

I cry every time I hear this song. My kids are all grown up, and I miss them being children and all the fun we had.
Photographs and Memories is another great one.

Back in July I asked for "Operator", glad you got around to this fine artist.
Jim met a fate similar to Buddy Holly before him, and Lynyrd Skynyrd's Ronnie van Zant after, when he died in a plane crash just as his music career was finally succeeding. He actually wrote it when he learned his wife was pregnant.
I'm grateful his family had these videos. I loved his music and I'm sad we never received what he he could have shared with us.
Wow, I've never the video before. Thank you 💃🌹❤️
" Photographs and Memories" another stellar Jim Croce tune.❤✌️
Will be played at my funeral

Powerfully emotional especially knowing how young he died and how we all missed out on all the music he would have given to us!😢

Maurice was also killed in the crash, along with Jim. Such a tragedy. Maurice was only 24.
Jim Croce’s name is pronounced Crow-chee.
Love your reactions!
Keep up the good work!
video is of croce (crochee) and his family. Had this sung at my wedding.
Music can be poetry for the soul - and this is one of those songs that has a way of touching your heart. Beauatiful song with a heartbreaking back story. Thanks for playing it.
Heard the song a lot. It is one of my favorites. But it's the first time seeing the video. Thanks.
Jim Croce is fantastic…. He was basically a folk/rock artist, great vocalist…. Became very popular in the 70’s. Other songs by him- Bad bad Leroy Brown, Operator, You Don’t Mess Around with Jim….. he has several great songs!
The voice
I really like his music
Great story teller

Love his music 😍
I'm not crying....not crying....not.....😭
I miss him!
Ok dating myself, Jim Croce’s greatest hits was my very first 8 track, I bought off of Columbia music. Even have the whole album on my karaoke Road trip playlist.
Nice, sincere, intelligent reaction. Thank you. 🙏
He actually wrote it for his son. At the time, he was enslaved to the road because he hadn't made any record money, and he had a newborn son who he hardly ever saw.

Prophetic

If his beautiful son is still alive. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Alive and well...and touring. AJ is a singer-songwriter too...
My favorite song, in the 80s when I lost my husband on a logging accident.
This is a great song. Most people dont know that Jim was going to quit the music buisiness after this tour. Unfortunately fate stepped in a took him from us
Wow. I never heard that before. Can't say I'm really shocked especially listening to this song.
A gorgeous song about fatherhood is Slow Up by Jacob Banks. This Nigerian/British artist is incredible. What a poet! What a voice!
This is such a sad story with Jim dying not long after making it. Later his widow got involved with a man that beat the son, AJ so badly that he lost his sight. I believe he's gotten some of it back. Croce…. Pronounced CROW-SHE
A life taken too quickly.
I always liked that song. It's pronounced Crochee. 😀
This is one of my all time favorite songs. Jim has so many great songs I hope you go down this rabbit hole. This is another artist that left us way to soon . Rip Jim
Great reaction!
I love this song. I kind of remember when it came out and it’s also one of the first pop songs I learned to play on the keyboard a couple years later.
Haven't heard this song in ages. Thank you so much for giving me this memory.
❤❤❤ I highly recommend Jim's other poignant masterpiece, "Photographs and Memories". It's another short yet sweet reminder for us all... ✌️ ☮️

So sad a story of Jim Croce’s passing at the height of his career.
Boy that video really hits hard.
This song sounds romantic but apparently it was written for his son. I think I read that he wrote it before the baby was born.
☮️💙💙💙🔥😎
That was fast!
Such a sad story . . .
Loggins & Messina - Jim Croce....I'm guessing from the same Patreon.. Nice choices if so.
Brother was killed in a plane crash about a year after this song was released. WTH? Sad.
That was him his wife and son in the video.
Jim (Crow Chee) Croce
👍

RiP Jim (Kro-chee) , he was taken way too young. I Got a Name. My personal favorite.
Try Rapid Roy. Hehe.
His name is pronounced, CROW-SHEE
Sadly he passed at too young an age
🥹💝💞
On the lighter side, check out "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" .
the sad part is after Jim died his wife new boyfriend beat AJ Croce ….his son that this song is written for …
Manfred Mann's Earth Band Time Is Right ua-cam.com/video/jzJIej8h5q4/v-deo.html
It's pronounced "Cro-chee"
Another tragic plane crash victim . Lost too soon😢
