The wind was pretty loud and gusty here in SW Florida last night between 7 - 8 PM. I hope everyone made it out of that storm okay.
Agreed I seen it coming in the same area but was unsure where landfall was going to take place. I have been through two tornadoes so fairly accustomed now of days in what to look for.

This would be a very strong tornado by Florida standards. Probably 80% of our tornadoes are F0, 18% are F1, And 2% are higher. I think I’ve heard of an F3 maybe two or three times and I’ve lived here my whole life🥲
The Kissimmee outbreak in '98 was the last time an F3 strength tornado came through, and there was 3 of them 1 initially rated F4 but got downgraded. Most here are small, short lived, and weak so this is very uncommon but considering how this spring has been for everyone in the Midwest and South it's not surprising.
Now our planet is affected by cosmic energy, which causes destabilization of the Earth's core and its heating. This is the real reason why cataclysms are on the rise, including tornadoes.

Florida gets them all the time honestly. They just never get reported on since they usually do little damage compared to the monsters you see in the Midwest.
(According to NOAA 1950-2021 in regard to counties with most frequent tornadoes, 5 counties in florida make the top ten list. )

I live in West Central Florida and I'm thankful not to have ever had a problem where I live.
I live in north central florida same here.
I'm in Lakeland (central florida) and while we don't really get tornados we definitely get Hurricanes which are even worse. If you've been here for awhile you know.
@@thorntonmellon wouldn't say hurricanes are worst then tornadoes, atleast you get 2-3 week notice about a hurricane & the rest is up to you to decide, but with a tornado? No warning at alll...forget about it
@@thelifeiliveoutabout3868 Fair point, although we're advanced enough now that it's hardly fair to say there's no warning at all with tornadoes. Meteorology has learned a lot in the last 50 years and we can predict tornadoes fairly well now, even days in advance. The thing about hurricanes is they're essentially HUGE tornadoes. They can cover an entire US state and cause WAY more damage, so I'm sticking to they're worse.

Tornadoes have gotten weaker if anything, hasn't been an EF-5 in a decade. All time record length without one.

I wonder where the florida forestry headquarters is now. The academy headquarters was several hours away when i went through the academy outside orlando before it closed down. I could not see them getting there in 45 minutes to and hour. Regardless that is an impressive task and timing. I could only guess that crew one out of four responded with being so fast and thank all the crews along with fhp and florida emergency management for their quick responses.

More like a regular EF2, not really high end, here's the verbage for an EF2 which is pretty much what's shown here:"Considerable damage.

1:34 top middle of the screen..doublewide manufactured home (newer) Not even the roof is missing! Newer mobile homes are far more better made than older ones! Amazing if you look at hurricanes in Fl and the older parks were flattened and the newer homes, post 1992 after Andrew, are standing!
They are, but this was also a lower end tornado and likely didn't directly hit that home. Don't ever stay in a mobile home or anything without a solid foundation during a tornado warning, please.
